Why do we teach anything to 6 year olds?

I wasn't taught about it. However I think the intent makes the difference in this. Schools wouldn't teach Greek myths with the intent to reinforce Greek mythological beliefs so that children become proper Zeus fearing adults. Christian teachings on the other hand...

I'd just like to point out that my school is not a Christian school. We teach about all religions, including humanism. We teach it in such a way as to break down stereotypes and provide a broad understanding. Basically, anti-ignorance.

For example, I did not say 'this is how the world was made'. My phrasing was 'This is how some Christians and Jews believe the world was created'.

Some Churches do that? I had a class of 3-4 year olds. We taught like, the most basic, broken down lessons you can get. "Be nice to others." "Jesus loves you." "Being reverent." Stuff like that. While the adults are busy having "Quit gossiping about one another!" pounded into their thick skulls, you gotta have something done with the children, and at least at my church, 3-4 is old enough to teach them very, very basic Gospel principles.

You'd be surprised at how much children retain at that age. With all the screaming and shouting there's cause to doubt, but kids are remarkable information sponges.
