You do know it's like 18gigs, right? I was going to get it since I would prefer digital, but damn. By comparison, it will quite possibly take an entire day to download and install.
Very nice. I hope this means we'll see TANK! TANK! TANK! as a budget titles on the eShop in six months.
I wish more people would report on file size in this thread...the time it takes to download some of these, and the space required kinda determines if I'd wanna go digital or not. I caved on Tekken Tag 2, and when I saw it was 16gb, I was like "Aww man" lol, been downloading for the past 13 hours, and it's finally almost done.

Yeah, I don't have the best connection in the world, but I was able to download a similar file size game on Steam in less than 5 hours. Why can't all services be as fast and awesome as Steam?

I think I'll pick up MSFHD, Nano Assault, and Trine 2 in December since the release schedule looks a little light then. They seem pretty highly recommended in this thread.
Can't you do background downloading like on the 3DS? Curious because I don't have the system yet.

I just read something disturbing, can someone verify? If you have downloaded games on your Wii U, and it fucks the dog, you lose all your games?
If you send your broken Wii U into Nintendo, then probably not.
If you buy a new one, then yep. Downloads are tied to the console they were purchased on.

Curious, what Nintendo systems have you previously owned? I've got a NES and several GameBoy Colors that still work fine, and all the other Nintendo systems since those that I own are working great too. I'm not sure where people get the idea that these systems will overheat or stop working.

There is no definitive answer. It will all depend on your hard drive. I don't see why a slow, 2.5" USB 2.0 drive wouldn't work. But USB 3.0 drives that need MOAR POWAH probably won't work on a standard cable. Nintendo officially recommends the Y-cable or an externally powered drive, though.

With the size of my HDD I damn well better use it. I have 3 disks and feel horrible that they are not on my hardware ready to go with one click. The download time is worth for me I have no monthly caps on my ISP service so I love hearing large games are on the eShop ready to go.
this is true I have a lot of digital games right now
I think of the eShop just like I think of my HDD it is there on my hardware, I don't even think of it as a store that is on a server somewhere else. So any game it has is just a click away and my credit card suffers

does not matter so much as long as it works.
the eShop looks like a very simple website with a frame of the left side o navigate and you scroll down for more. When you hit the bottom of the page you can click to a page that lists every game available or hit search.
I like that these banners change often to feature different games

ONLY TWO PAGES worth of games! We cannot judge this against anything else because it is not cluttered with hundreds of titles yet. It just works vastly better than the old Wii Shop
I like it a lot more than XBL marketplace. But, like smiles said, it's not very well populated with games yet. It's pretty intuitive and easy to navigate though. Being able to buy anything I want without having to worry about extra points left over is a godsend.

I still have some money in my old Wii Shop and I can't migrate
I am glad to keep my zero balance showing and just pay for what I need.
I want Batman to be digital, everything really. I want that choice of having them on there.
Hopefully they update a few times per week with software.
I wonder how long it will take to even reach page 10? Maybe a year?

what I did the first day was use my credit card to put $100 in the balance. Hours later I had NSMBU and a few indie games in my download queque
until I was down to something like $6 balance. Well nothing on there is being sold for $6
I went and chose a $14 title it gave the choice to add more funds or pay the amount owed using the debit card I had saved in my account. Then purchase ZombiU and just used the debit card without adding points.
I cannot wait to get my 10% cash back when this DPP thing starts next month
Nope. You can choose to either add money to your standing balance or just buy directly with your credit card. You register your card on your first purchase and assign it a password. Any time you want to buy something, you can just click pay with card, enter in your password, and bam biggity, you're done.
Also, I'm not sure why but it seems like I'm living in a tax exempt state (NV)? I'd get taxed at retail but not when purchasing digitally.
so it's pretty much just like the 3DS... is the CC data saved on the console instead of their db as well?

as Batman is up on the eShop and listed as retail only I wonder if there is a chance that it might show up in a few days as downloadable
Tekken was definitely listed as Retail-Only before it went up. I wouldn't be surprised to see Batman show up soon too, seeing as WBs other games are up and the Retail-Only thing isn't an end all, be all label.

People say that Trine 2 feel loose in control, I've played Mighty Switch Force, don't really want Nano Assault, hear Darksiders II is terrible (rule of three), seen AC3, Mass Effect 3 and Batman played through, Scribblenauts reviews have me wary (puzzles force you to think like the developer instead of being creative), and I've never been big on fighting games.
What do I even do? Wait (hah) for LEGO City Stories?

Beyond that, Trine 2 is fantastic. A really beautiful adventure that you can play with friends.
If you're looking for retail titles, the only things I can recommend are Mario and ZombiU. They are both fantastic.
Does the Wii U resume downloads if the connection is broken or you shut down the Wii U? Or will it attempt to restart completely?

Should be the other way round? You should factor in VAT/sales tax:
Euro game: EUR 60 (incl. VAT usually around 20 %) = 488 points ~ EUR 4.9 ~ 8 % cashback on gross price
$ 60 + sales tax (let's say 20 % for comparison's sake) = $ 72 = 600 points = $ 6 ~ 8.3 % cashback on gross price
US game: $ 60 = 600 points = $ 6 = 10 % cashback on net price
EUR 60 - 20 % = EUR 48 ~ 10.2 % cashback on net price
Systems are different though, sales tax is usually lower than our VAT (some states don't have one on certain products, iirc it was that way when I was staying there), but that's not Nintendo's fault I guess.

Glad to see more retail going eshop fast. I like that Sony and Nintendo are pushing day 1 digital early. I really would have expected to see Microsoft get their first.

Thanks for the reply! I wanted to be sure. I was just heading to the mall for some stuff and I am tempted to get Batman but I have 3 flimsy blue Wii U discs already. I'll wait a few weeks and see.

Batman's also confirmed for Japan and Euro eShops iirc, it's just a matter of time imo.
I think Tank!x3 and ME3 will also probably get eShop releases. The only real question mark seems to be Activision's games. Are Blops 2, Skyladers Giants, 007 Legends on PSN/XBL? That might give us an indication?
007 Legends is up on PSN, as it was one of their Day 1 Digital promotions.
Skylanders Giants is going to be impossible to put up on the eShop for the time being, due to the Portal requirement.
COD has digital versions up on both the 360 and PS3, but they haven't been day 1 releases and usually take around a year to go up.

Until we hear otherwise I'm assuming it will follow established pattern of Wii/DSi/3DS, so in the US it'd be Thursday. For yesterday's update about Nintendo download stuff, they just had a list of the existing Wii U stuff as "Recently released in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U".

How does the rating system works on the eShop? Is it like on PS Store, that you can rate it if you have bought it?
Same as on the 3DS i read, so you must have played the title for an hour before getting to rate it.
