Payday.. need some help...

Persona 4 Golden or VLR????

i'm a big JRPG fan but i've never been able to get into the ones i've tried (i've never tried 4). And i've never played 999.

help me gaf

did you ever try persona 3? if not then I would give 4 a try, it does a lot of things different from other jrpgs that we usually get such as having social links that kind of work like a dating sim that let you know more about the characters. Also persona 4 would likely give you more bang for your buck. Plus a lot of people I have talked to said you should finish 999 before playing VLR. It's not necessary but it adds to the game.

Morning vitaBros!

I'd love to know how wipeout handles it's dynamic resolution. Seems insane to me, it's against everything I've learned so far about how resolution and rendering works.

I can't play 999 but still ordered VLR, will I miss out on story?
Yes. VLR is designed so that it'll be enjoyable for newcomers, but you'll get a lot less out of it if you don't play 999 first.

Without really spoiling anything - Zero Escape is now a 3 game (at least) series with a continuous story and VLR is essentially a direct sequel to 999. It'd be like reading Lord of the Rings starting with book 2 or something, except in this case playing VLR first also spoils some of the biggest twists in 999.

A retrospective look at some of 999's dialogue and some recent posts by the game's writer/creator also indicate even further how important it is to have played the first game. I would really recommend finding some way to experience 999 first. Mod Kagari suggested to just watch a complete playthrough on youtube if you have no way to get your hands on a copy.

Thanks for the tips. I own P3P and honestly haven't played it for more than an hour. Just couldn't get into it, but i honestly probably didn't give it a fair chance probably due to other games being released / purchased at the same time. The dating sim stuff sounds interesting, but I play RPGs for the story, and like really dark , emotional, movies stories (a la FFVI). As for 999, well I actually sold my Ambassador 3DS on craigslist today, hadn't touched the thing in over 9 months (about the same time i got my Vita hmmmmm.......). Maybe i'll just watch some 999 youtube vids to at least get the jist of the story..

FUCK, just go home, logged in to my online banking so i could transfer money to my maxed out CC to buy some shit, and the whole system is down without warning. WTF!!!

Thanks for clearing that out for me. I guess I have to watch videos then. 999 didnot release in Europe unfortunatly. :(

Geez the Wipeout hate from some people on the last pages is ridiculous. Super fun and great looking game.

You could import it. It's region-free, and can be played on any DS or 3DS. But anyways, you'll want to watch the "safe ending" and the "true ending" in 999. Edit: I mean, the entire routes that leads to those endings! That should give you all the story/background you need.

persona 3 and 4 have decently dark stories, personally I found persona 4 to hook me faster, but I haven't finished it. but the general plot to persona 4 is (spoilered just because but it's something you likely would know going in)
there are murders going on and you are trying to figure out the cause of them
it ends up touching on the darker sides of people but not that dark (it makes sense in my head lol)

While I said the social links are like a dating sim, that doesn't mean they are just to court people. Some will have you chasing girls around, but even then it won't be stuff like having fun going on a date the whole time, you will find out secretes about the character for example you might find out they are dealing with their parents going through a divorce (I don't think that is an actual social link I just came up with something that seemed like it could be one) or stuff like that. Most of the links are interesting and make you really start to feel like you got to know the characters (at least they did in persona 3, I haven't gotten far enough into 4 to know how they go)

I'm sure someone else could say these things better if they remotely follow my rambling... I'm trying not to spoil anything though lol

Maximus only listen to ppl suggesting Persona4Golden. You will thank us later. Oh and glad you HATED P3P! too bad I wasn't here to WARN you of that trash. It is not the full persona experience or full gaming experience period. When you play Golden you will see how drastically COMPLETE it is trust me ;)

I second that. It's pretty affordable since they released the re-print.

I've received my Vita :D

What a beautiful piece of hardware, the various demo stations are really shitty, they do not let you try and see how comfortable it really is.

But I have an ER shift like right now, so it'll have to wait till I go back home :( the next 20 hours are going to be loooong...

This is absolute rubbish.

P3P and P4 play virtually the same, for a start.

Screaming at the hilarity of this false statement.

GET Persona3:FES for the full persona3 experience Maximus. Only 9.99 on PSN assuming you have a PS3 that is. Otherwise don't even bother with that abortion of a game.

Persona4:Golden >>> the vile point and click adventure

While I agree FES is far better than P3P it doesn't make that a bad game.

P3P is still a fantastic game and a much more enjoyable portable experience

I agree whole-heartedly that it was a letdown, but he's making out that there's some drastic difference between P3P and P4, and there really isn't.

There is. One is a soul-less husk of a persona game and the other isn't its the full package.

You tried tho.

In terms of gameplay probably not (from my very limited time with P3P), but stuff like the missing animated cutscenes was disappointing. I was really looking forward to play as the female lead but just couldn't get myself to do it.

EDF Vita is the first version actually supports true online multi play.
Carpet-bombing those bugs by Palewing is extremely fun!

Be sure that your infantry buddy isn't within the vicinity, though :)

Preach!

An embarrassment to the series.

Slide shows for cutscenes is when I really lost it tho. . Besides the point and click navigation BS

Without the cutscenes and anime segments, P3P is weird as fuck to follow

I played FES for about 30 hours and stopped, then picked up P3P down the line. Mechanically, it's a much better game with the improvements from P4, but damn, the story is just... lost. In a sense

I had almost no idea what happened at the ending. They really should have at least included that

Just sorted my wireless content manager up.

Finally I can have all the different types of background in folders for easy access!

FOLDERS!

No idea why they didn't add it for Music too though.

Seems everyday there is a p3p vs p4 discussion. I enjoyed p3p but it does feel like a point n click game as there is no world to walk around in. But that doesn't mean it's bad. That said p4 rocks hard!!
Also haven't played my ac3 because of this game.

My heart leapt for a moment when I scanned your post and saw folders, but then it all came crashing down

I'm hoping to hear some new game announcements for Vita for 2013 soon. I know Jeff Gerstmann seems to know about some Vita games he can't talk about. Right now, EDF's the only future release I want (barring the validity of Skies of Arcadia HD/Shenmue HD)

Shenmue 1&2 or just 1 of either would kill my heart. Was so amazing. If they do a Vita port like JSR and Sonic Racing I'm going to cry.
