Won't be doing anything dumb.

Just honoring the long count calendar.

I've been around this site in it's various incarnations for a decade now. I can't say I've outgrown the site, but the site has changed and many of the sub-communities and people I've enjoyed interacting with the site have moved on as well.

There's an age gap and income gap that I've observed around here, and my tolerance for both is greatly diminished.

In my personal life I know few persons like this, and the rest are like myself are trying to figure out how to stay on our own two feet in an increasingly harsh world. How to live the lives we want to live without a foundation to build on.

I'm not getting any younger and living isn't getting any easier.

Recently seeing a boisterous blowhard poster on the gaming side who has been here for a few years reveal he wasn't aware Drinky Crow was a joke character sums it all up for me.

Serious business, yo!

I just need to lay low until my final comic OT. Then I'm scuttling the account and moving on.

That's pretty lame bro

How are there so many of these Grimm Fairy Tales books releasing every week? Whenever I check out comiclist there are like 12 of those shits coming out.

Been off the grid since last Wednesday, though I picked up some books:

- Hawkguy #4: I loves it so. Pulido's art is different, but I enjoy it. No match for Aja though. Can't wait for the next issue.

- All New X-Men #1: I like the setup so far.

- Deadpool #2: It's still stupid fun & I'm enjoying it immensely.

I plan on checking out CA, but Romita Jr.'s art can be off-putting for me so it's a toss-up ATM.

Definitely looking forward to Hickman's Avengers next month. :3

anyone hear read and watch the walking dead? curious how you felt about a major deviation from the comics

Don't watch the show but read the comics up until 80-something. Kind of interested in the third season, the prison stuff was by far the best part of the comic. Doubt they'll be able to make it as impactful and disgusting as the comic is.

they runied lori and the babys death. she dies by c-section

granted i ahve not seen watched it but reading it took some of my intrest in wanting to watch it. when it comes to major deaths they seem to cop out big time.

The govoner stuff seem to be up to par though

Man they are really nerfiing an already nerfed zombie story.

TTOB, I'll take some funny books off your hands bub.

HAHAHAHA, seriously? Way to make what was a genuinely shocking moment in the comic into something so lame.

re: governor
So he's torturing and raping Michonne on the show? No way they can get the conclusion to all that done in a way that compares. She destroys that dude.
Epic foreshadowing and big sci-fi things happening. This is a Johnathan Hickman book, alright

i'm hoping that Hickman's Avengers can excite me like Uncanny Avengers is failing to.

Also, Warren Ellis' terrific Secret Avengers one-shots are all on sale along with other stuff in Comixology right now. GO GO GO.

Opena/White will excite me for the 3 issues they'll be on.

Yep. Fucking sucks it's going to turn into artist grab bag like every other damn comic after that. Fucking sucks, bro. Get more and more sick of it it the more I read comics.

Yeah, Avengers is suppose to be biweekly so artist rotations are goooo

Luckily the artist rotation is actually...good. Kubert/Weaver/Deodato Jr? I can roll with that

I've never liked Deodato but I find his new layouts almost incomprehensible. Panels in mid-fucking-air at completely bizarre angles.

What avengers is this? I've decreased my collecting to just two comics, walking dead and batman. I'm already down to add this series with just seeing that panel.

jonathan hickman's avengers, that will be written concurrently with his "new avengers" series.

if it is half as good as his fantastic four run, it will be amazing.

Aye. After his Fantastic Four/FF combo, his Avengers/New Avengers combo is must have comics in my eyes.

I thought the same of Remender's Uncanny, but it seems the whole concept may be flawed. :(

Oh God, I'm losing track of the Avengers books. So there's four right? Vanilla, Uncanny, Secret, and Dark? Or are these just the Marvel NOW! ones?

New + those four would bring it up to Five, right?

Avengers, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, Avengers Arena, Avengers Assemble, Young Avengers, A+X

e: also Dark Avengers

there's also young avengers by gillen, i think it's gonna be a sexy teen romp or something.

Wait are the two avengers books gonna be an interweaving thing? People are making it sound like it's gonna resemble FF and fantastic four.

hickman said these are going to be woven together, two sides of the same story. one life, one death /locke

young and the hickman duo are what i'll be reading

Oh my God o_o I think I'm gonna stick with New and Vanilla then.

For what it's worth, I dug DeConnick and Caselli's first issue (#9) of Avengers Assemble a whole bunch. It's pretty indebted to the movie (mainly Tony and Hulk as ~science bros~) but the humour is spot-on for that kind of book. It's almost as if DeConnick is channeling Bendis but she does the Bendis-isms way better than he does, weirdly enough.

As far as I can tell, Avengers Arena has nothing to do with Avengers other than featuring a few former cast members of Avengers Academy, and is using the name purely to boost sales.

(It's also a book apparently premised on killing off teen characters, including a number of established B- and C-listers, on a semi-regular basis, which is pretty close to a fundamentally irredeemable premise in my eyes no matter how good the actual writing is, but I'm trying not to judge it before the first issue or two ships.)

His last one (#22, I think?) has one of the worst Captain America moments in recent history. Because apparently Ellis thinks he's an american, and therefore totally okay with torture because it really works you guys. And that soured a lot of it. But otherwise it's great.

Avengers Academy leads into Avengers Arena storywise.

Got back from my trip today and read Hickman's FF up to "Three". I want to say this felt like the first act of Hickman's run, really amazing ideas here that make me excited for his Avengers run. I'll also keep my faith in Remender in Uncanny Avengers, a lot of quick judgments here based on only one released issue. I feel that UA is like the spiritual successor to UXF, also I read on twitter that some left over ideas Remender had in UXF will come in fruition, like
Pestilence pregnant with Archangels baby.

So I'm trying to get caught up on Spidey....

Jesus Christ-"Spider-Island" fucking sucks.
And the art in Venom is atrocious.

Dangerous to post that round here. I read Spider-Island and Children's Crusade back to back, nearly died. The only thing i liked about Spider-Island was Mary Jane's parts and the last wrap up issue which actually had some touching moments and charm that were completely missing during the rest of the event.
"mystery" spider villain being captain america made me make some audible noise of disgust when reading.
