This Vita bundle is insane... (Vita, mem card, AssCreed $179.99 WOW)

You have to put in your credit card info to use the 90 day PS+? That's incredibly stupid.

It's because they are technically trials. All you gotta do is input it, then disable automatic renewal (or something along those lines).

I have no idea why they'd do three 30 day codes instead of one 3 month one, but the credit card part is rather painless. You can add them, turn off auto-renew and take out your CC info painlessly right from your console/handheld.

The best controlled test I've found was games like LocoRoco, or RallyX, where length of the ghosting trails is easy to compare 1:1 (and it's same for 1k and 2k, and notably shorter on 3k or Go (though still visible)).
Or just use the XMB, which tends to ghost on all PSPs (depending on the background color you use).

I never saw Taiko, so if it's indeed blurrier on 1k, maybe 2k only improved some colors, but not overall response rate.
Last post on this since it's off topic, but Taiko is pretty great for testing this.
It's just static screen with rhythm notes passing by quickly.
Put the same song on each system compare.

I'll see if I can set up and record some 60fps footage for a future thread, as this kind of stuff always interests me.

Yeah, cancelling auto-renewal is a cinch, but people feeling iffy about handing over their CC info to Sony is understandable in light of the security fiasco that happened not too long ago.

On an semi-related note, does Microsoft still require you to call in to cancel XBL? I remember having to do that when I was last a subscriber, but that was years ago.

Regarding a hardware revision - assuming one is in the pipeline - the first ring that comes to mind is internal storage, but I think the concern there is largely security-related. The last thing Sony wants is another PSP on their hands, even if it meant PSP-like hardware numbers.

I can't think of much else they'd do besides axing things like the back touch panel or gyroscope if games just stop using them. They could make improvements to the screen, I suppose, but the resolution isn't going to change.

Yeah, I'll stick with the Vita Go as my prediction. Maybe without the internal memory, but it could have a small, thinner profile.

So mine just arrived. Shipped to Australia in less than 2 days!

First impression is that it's real uncomfortable to hold, and much heavier than expected. I'm charging it now so I haven't broken its cherry just yet.

I truly winced and muttered "ew" at this. So good job.

Yep, I ended up doing this because I didn't want to throw these 4 codes away (1 from new PS3, 3 from the Amazon Vita deal). I entered a CC, put in all 4 codes, verified my subscription was for 4 months, then removed the CC and turned off auto-renewal on the PS+ service.

Do you guys have any idea what Sony's data retention policy is? Just because you delete your credit card information doesn't mean that it is immediately deleted from their servers.

They were probably sitting on thousands of codes like IGN lol

Thanks to GAF, I got in on this deal. First-time Vita owner here. I'm not interested in PS All-Stars Battle. If anyone wants that game, I'd be willing to sell the download code for $20. PM me.

Randomly popping in:

http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/privacy-policy/
We reserve the right to maintain and store payment information such as credit card information (other than CVV) provided by consumers for purposes of charging future purchases.
Retention Policy

We will retain personally identifying information about you for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, and as necessary under our information security and data backup procedures, unless a longer retention period is required by law or regulations or other legal requirements.

If you're really concerned, I've heard mixed reports that pre-paid credit cards will work but they'd likely have to be registered first. I might go this route to avoid putting CC info on PSN again.

Damn I hope you guys never swipe your credit cards anywhere like when you go shopping, filling up gas, or even using an outdoor atm. You are way more likely to get your CC info stolen via a skimmer than putting it on PSN.

Better yet, you guys should just cancel your CCs altogether - that way it'll never get stolen.

Once bitten, twice shy.

I suppose it's possible to do those tests on a Vita, too? How does OLED tech do for ghosting?

My Vita shipped this morning from Amazon pretty pumped hey :)

Where about's can I get a 32GB card cheap that ships to Australia guys?

Shit that was quick I choose the quickest option I live in South Australia what state are you?

To everyone worried about their CC info, just open a free debit account and only leave a couple bucks in the account. Thats what I use for my Paypal and Ebay, etc.

so happy about this bundle, already have a vita since launch but this bundle plus the 90 days of ps+ means that a lot more people would be online on WipEout 2048 to play, awesome!

Still pretty torn over this purchase.

The games I want won't be out until early next year, and I'm still wondering what changes Vita 2000 hardware revision will have?

My experience with past sony products is that it's a good choice to skip the first revision only if there are some big problems. Every new revision is usually made to cut costs, usually build quality goes down.

It's not exactly comparable, but the PSP 1000 to the PSP 2000 had very few hardware revisions yes?

Yup, see PS3 to PS3 slim or PSP-1000 to 2000.

Sure the internals are better, but corners were cut in materials too.

PSP 2000 is the hardware revision. Then PSP 3000, PSP Go, PSP Hunters Edition, and then Street.

It was technically a revision but what changed from 1000 to 2000 besides internal chipsets that have no immediate impact on customer experience?

I only ever had a 3001, so I don't have any first hand experience.

If build quality is important to you then you really missed out. The PSP-1000 had a nice fit and finish along with having an internal metal structure to make it feel like a premium product. The PSP-2000 and 3000 had better internals and better battery life with a better screen, but it feels plasticky and cheap.

I know, I have the PSP-2000 and 1000, I should buy the PSP-3000 to round up my collection.

Mine still hasn't shipped. I just got the email for PSABR and 3x1 month of PS+. Still waiting on $10 for AC3 and the shipping confirmation email. Maybe they will mess up and give me a 16GB card instead of a 4GB one, that will make up for the wait lol

Have you received a shipment notification from Amazon? You should definitely have your code by now. Doesn't hurt to check the spam I suppose.

Oh no, my order hasn't shipped yet since I went for the no-hurry option (xmas gift). So that's probably why. I got the other codes yesterday though.

One reason I'll never use PS+. Been burned before...

Just get a PSRS card at your local Wal-mart/K-mart/Target/7-11/CVS/Wal-greens?

Those cards like the PSN money cards don't require a credit card on file.

two things I know of that changed from 1k to 2k was

a. you could charge the 2k via usb
B. you could output video from the 2k to a tv.

all I want from the next version of the vita is video out and on board memory, the rest can stay the same lol

I contacted amazon and they just told me my $10 AC3 code will be sent to me within 3 days after my order ships. 2-Day Prime SHOULD have shipped out from their warehouse on either Friday or Saturday, but they're not shipping it until Monday for whatever reason...

Assassin's Creed III will be a Cyber Monday lightning deal at 5:09PM PST, so I better have my code by then.
