THQ Humble Bundle is up (THQ needs your money lol)

On the one hand, this ain't exactly an indie bundle... but on the other hand, if any company is a struggling video game company, it's THQ. I'll accept this one exception and buy the games. THQ really does need all the help it can get and it should be applauded for essentially using their games for charity.

Agreed, but I still feel somewhat bad for getting this bundle for such a price. XD Excellent for me or most of us who are purchasing the bundle right now, but damn. 7 games (which are not indie games) + bunch of OST and perhaps more games to come next week for an average of $6 is wrong. :P

By the way, I think it's terrible that THQ is doing a Humble Bundle. It's not DRM-free, it's not indie, THQ could just do their own bundle without tainting the Humble Bundle "brand" forever. It was a mistake by both parties, even if no one really wants THQ to go bankrupt.

ALL TO THQ. I WILL SAVE YOU.

All you heartless bastards not giving a cent to THQ. Fuck you :( I want Relic to live

At the end of these do they ever show what the overall split was? I would be interested in seeing how much thq gets in the end.

I went with default split as it felt the most fair to all parties.

THQ probably couldn't afford the web hosting on their own

That or THQfuneralpyrebundle.com was already taken.

Tainting the Humble Bundle "brand" forever? Oh god, get a grip....

Support amazing charities. Choose how your purchase is divided: to the Child’s Play Charity, the American Red Cross, and/or to THQ. And if you like this promotion, a tip to the Humble Bundle would be greatly appreciated!

So I'm guessing that makes THQ a charity?

The brand is Humble Bundle. It is not Humble Indie Bundle. Nor is it Humble DRM-free Bundle. All it ever was was a selection of goods for a price that you can choose to go to whoever you want. The people putting out the games, the people responsible for putting together the bundle, or for charity.

This bundle also won’t benefit the people who create the games, as previous Humble Indie Bundles have done. “Most of the people who sweated blood and tears into the games offered in this bundle no longer have jobs at THQ. That’s right, they were laid off some time ago,” the We Get Signal dev blog stated. “So the THQ slider on the Humble Bundle is essentially you deciding how much the publisher gets for simply hanging in there at the expense of all their former employees. Bravo.”

I’m going to be a hypocrite and buy a bundle, just because these are incredible games at a staggeringly low price, but wouldn’t it have been something if they were offered without DRM? Or if they ran on Linux? Or if the space was used to promote games that hadn’t already sold millions of copies? This isn’t a bad deal, but it’s certainly a step away from what made Humble Bundle so unique. If this is the sort of thing we can expect to see in the future, the Humble name could quickly become just another cut-rate digital retailer pushing catalog titles. Humble Bundles should be something special, and worth getting excited about. This could be the death rattle of a publisher who has already laid off much of its staff. While past bundles may have allowed developers to fund their next projects, this money won’t likely make a difference for THQ one way or the other. It’s a wasted opportunity.

So why offer this bundle? “We’re hopefully going to raise a huge amount of money for charity and expose a ton of new customers to the Humble Bundle model. We are debuting more games for Mac and Linux (and Android—and even had an eBook digital debut this year!) and this will just help us continue to do so,” Graham said. “We are humbly hopeful that our customers will see this as a good thing instead of a permanent departure from what we have done and will continue to do.”

Let’s hope the bundle’s values make a return soon after this unfortunate misstep.

‏@dannyodwyer @BenKuchera Too right! I heard those THQ fuckers don't even use chiptune music or 16bit graphics in their games.

Heh, the Linux whiners got pushed off the leaderboard.

I don't really see the problem with registering a somewhat valid, if useless, complaint by donating money to be on the leaderboard.

Stopped caring for his opinion once he got to, "I’m going to be a hypocrite and buy a bundle, just because these are incredible games at a staggeringly low price."

You honestly think its a mistake that THQ had to swallow their pride and say we need financial help. We all love games, we all love cheap games. It's damaged nothing.

Then don't buy it.

Jesus Christ, the entitlement when it comes to video games is astounding. I bet if THQ had done their own bundle on THQ.com people would've bitched that they were trying to cash in on the Humble Bundle craze and they weren't really going to give money to charity. Here, THQ has partnered with a neutral third party to offer people a bundle of six great games and all you have to do to get them is pay $1.00 which can go directly to charity so THQ gets nothing. Just think about that for a second THQ is deep in the hole and has been trying to put on a front that everything was okay and they'd work passed it. Now, as they desperately search for a buyer or backer to dig them out they've made a bundle where they give some of their best games for NOTHING guaranteed in return. The complaint about this is absurd! Absolutely fucking absurd.

And now Steam as DRM is a problem? Man, it's like people are looking for any reason to hate this.

What a fucking dick.

I'd like to see proof that everyone who worked on these games were fired "long ago". And yes, THQ should totally spend money they don't have to make all those games work on Linux. Dude, shut up.

I don't care either way, although the Linux people can be just as insufferable hipsters as some of the indies complaining. I just found it amusing the tag used by the person who bumped them off the list.

You can change your name, but I still know who you are.

How did you know? :lol

Got the keys from the Humble Bundle account.

Seriously, if THQ gave DRM-free copies with each purchase, I would pay full-price. I still paid quite a good amount, even though I have most of the games in the bundle.

Don't know if I should gift my SR3 key or not...

"Hipster" has become so overused it is meaningless now.

That's right, I'm a hipster hipster.

I don't see this problem. Just because a site started with indie bundles shouldn't mean they can't branch out. They don't even have the word indie anywhere near this bundle.

Really, I just prefer indie games or well, 2D games in general. AAA mainstream titles don't do a thing for me unless they are damn good, of which only Saints Row really qualifies of THQ's library. I don't want this to lead to a Humble EA Bundle or a Humble Activision Bundle, but I do have to acknowledge that THQ is in a pretty bad state right now and that if any mainstream publisher should have a Humble Bundle, it's them.
