If we get the belk bowl, I should take that day off and get tickets. We'll get our asses kicked but who knows when the next post season ass kicking will happen

So what happens to the remnants of the ACC when all this realignment is done? There's no doubt that FSU and Clemson can't wait to leave the ACC. That would make the Big XII top to bottom a nasty, nasty SEC-like conference. I mean, would there be any easy wins there? As a Texan, I would absolutely love that conference.

I'm curious to see what happens with UNC and Duke but I'm sure they'd be looking to leave as well. I suspect the remnants of the Big East and ACC will join forces... the funny thing is that the conference will probably just look like the old Big East.

They merge with the remnants of the Big East to form the Giving not A Fuck Conference.

No, the SEC knows how to tackle and play defense.

So dudes... I am in Gulfport, Mississippi right now. What should I do/see?

I'm so bitter right naw.
The conference championship game was a ton of fun last year and we are allowed to keep our season ticket seats. Instead I'm stuck at work. God dammit, Ducks...
Your bitterness is delicious! Misery loves company.

oh just saw the crowd shot. rose bowl on the line and it isn't even half full? shouldn't be bowl eligible if you can't get your own fans interested in the team

It's Stanford.

Note that this is after they cut the size of their stadium by 1/3 or more because they were so often outnumbered by visiting fans.

wonder if that happens when you have no history, resulting in older alumni who don't care about football. Add that to the student body who also doesn't care about football, and you have Stanford.

BTW, I'm not caught up with "who is hipster" Is Stanford considered "Hipster" or is that Cal?

That's nuts. I figured at least they showed up when the team was good

I don't know how it is at Bama but a criticism I have of OU, and even Stoops has voiced this, is that they are pretty sedate and sit on their hands. Lots of older alums who will spend for the tickets push the students out, but you get a boring crowd. UT has this problem as well

A&M has lots of older alums at their games, but they seem to be able to bring lots of energy. LSU seems to have a raucous crowd as well

Sounds similar.

Alabama's got a 2 face problem, sadly.

We have alot of older fans. Fans that grew up with the Bear and the old glory days, and as they've gotten older, they've gotten quieter. But also richer. They've stayed on the season ticket holder list for decades.

But now we seem to have a large portion of the student body that either doesn't care about football, or have become jaded from the success. With all the winning, they seem to show up at the beginning of games, and then leave by halftime (assumption that Alabama is going to win, lets get on back to the dorms and party or whatever it is they do). Then you add on the Frat sections, and they're notorious.

Alabama will be loud if it's LSU in the house, or if a good Auburn or Tennessee is in town. But that's about it.

LSU has the positive of having Louisiana people for fans. They'll drink all day for anything. But I think the stadium is alot more "aggressive" in the last decade, in step with it's success. Not sure how it was back in the 80's and 90's (with the average LSU teams)

I'm sure mre or Limedust have better knowledge of the ongoings of student culture at Alabama than I do.

Stanford's football fanbase really doesn't make sense to me. You think a Duke fan would understand, but not really. If we had the success they've had for the past 4 or so years, we'd have a few sellouts. Our fans are avid bandwagon hoppers.

49'ers, Raiders, Golden State Warriors, SF Giants, A's... all in the immediate Bay area and all overlap college football season.

@Mr_KevinJones: Source: Georiga Tech and UVA will announce decision to leave ACC by Monday. Will join Big 10

Hm. This guy was allegedly first to break UMD to B1G as well. Sports reporter based out of DC.

Second straight year a non AQ will throw away a BCS game because of a CCG loss. Oh well.

Second straight time it's happened to the MAC, too. Remember Ball State in 2008 was ranked 12th and Buffalo roflstomped them.

On the other hand, Michigan could end up in BCS talks if this all goes down. They might be the new #16.
