Bane was real eloquent with his speech when fighting Batman.

But really dumb when he read the letter. And then at the stadium when he asks Pavel to tell people what the bomb is. Like he's not sure what he's doing.

He probably practiced his speech for years. He's like Obama. Eloquent as hell with prep time. Otherwise he's all "uhm"s.

That's because he had no idea what the fuck was going on. He goes from brute to torturer to evil genius to circus clown to "the guy from next door with the weird face mask" to wannabe mass murderer. He has like 4 personalities throughout the movie.

I didn't cringe when he showed up, I cringed when he faded away like some low budget TV ghost.

I had to stifle my laughter so much when that happened, as well as when Talia bites it. I can't believe Nolan looked at both of those scenes and didn't want them burned for the sake of humanity. Sooooooooo bad.

I agree that he's very inconsistently portrayed as a character. And you can see that reflected in interview quotes about Bane, where everybody was using different words/phrases to describe him, signaling that there wasn't a unified, singular vision behind it.

They'd call him a "movie monster," "a revolutionary," "a military dictator," "a physical challenge," "a genius," etc. Not to mention, he's also portrayed as a lover/protector, insane devotee to a guy who excommuniated him, and has a poorly ADR'd voice.

You ask the people on the crew or the audience what Joker was all about, and they would probably respond with one word: chaos.

It's okay to have a multi-layered character, that's not the problem. In a 3-hour movie, it's possible in time to make a character that complex. It's that there's too much going on with him and it changes nearly every scene (and he's in so few), so you never get a grasp on who he is.

Yeah, that moment felt really out-of-character for Alfred. Almost like something out of a Nolan fan-fic.

I'm sure that Bruce had told him about the LOS, but for them to start talking about what happened in BB so freely after ignoring it in TDK just came out of nowhere.

Seemed to me that it was an information dump type scene that was poorly handled

and couldn't they come up with an injury worthy of wearing a respirator for the rest of your life?

i mean come on, he got jumped my malnourished prisoners. actually, maybe they weren't even malnourished. oh my god, i think i've got something.

bane got jumped because he ate all the food. just look how big he is compared to the other prisoners. the prison gets a certain food supply and bane eats it all up, leaving little for everyone else. so they're all like fuck that, fuck him, lets teach him a lesson.

still though, we could have gotten a better accident than being jumped. anything would have been better. i was expecting batman to pull off his mask near the end, revealing some harvey dent/two face x10.

"Not only do we share the League of Shadows..." *pulls off mask revealing scarred horrid mess of a face* "Bats too have had their way with me!"

I just showed this to a friend of mind and we're both just shocked at how every single move in that choreography has something wrong with it. Every single one! How is that even possible?! It's three goddamn seconds wrong.

Yep. The fights and Keysi are the only black mark in Nolan's series, IMO. Stupid f***ing elbows.

I hope the next Batman incarnation addresses the fact that he's supposed to be ninja-like in his movements.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in BB, Bale's stuntguy did the fights in the batsuit. He moved like BAM*BAM*BAM*BAM. Then later it was all Bale doing his own fights so it became BAM****BAM****BAM****BAM. -_-

This is something I felt BB was leaps and bounds better than the sequels at. Everybody used to shit on Nolan for his 'crappy editing' during the fight scenes, but I always saw it as effective editing. It really put you into the mindspace of the cronies trying to get a handle on Batman - who would disappear and reappear in flashes and blurs.

Then TDK suddenly had Batman as this ultra-robotic fighter - something TDKR made much worse.

What's funny is that the whole (narrative) reason for changing his suit after BB was so he could be much more agile and faster, yet he got much worse.

Begins Bruce is a beast.

Kind of like the muzzle flask sequence in TDKR.

I'm glad people are starting recognise BB as the better movie, TDK just has an insanely great performance by one man.

In a trilogy you have to have a sequence of best to worst, but as a whole, this has been so much fun to watch. We went on quite a journey with Bruce. I think that's why I got so emotional at the end.

Fucking bullshit. Everybody gave insanely great performances in the movie. Especially Aaron Eckhart. Batman Begins was amazing, but not as good as TDK and I'd venture to say that it might also be worse than TDKR.

Yeah, I cherish the trilogy as a whole. People in here always critiquing the films, but just like as a fan, I love all three so much. They really do come together to make an epic trilogy. Lawd I can't wait for that Blu ray package and guide book that comes with it.

Bale still got it!

I don't know if it is because I am drunk but holy shit I can't stop laughing...

Same. I'm usually pretty critical of film (or games or anything really) and tend to let little things ruin the experience for me, but I fucking love this trilogy to death from beginning to end.

I would think wearing a big suit, having a cape flapping about and also years of injury would really screw up your performance.

I'm not even sure if it's possible to make a real Batman in live action. The suits, the cape...unless you do a CG Batman I doubt it's possible to deliver the Batman we know from comic books.

Calm down. Yes, everyone was great, but Ledger is what people talk about, and it seems to be a common argument for why TDK is better than BB.

Personally I feel Batman Begins is easily the best in the trilogy, having rewatched all 3 recently I would say Rises is the weakest. I love the film, but it just isn't as tightly made as the first 2, the story jumps around a lot, and the score is kinda lazy. That said, the ending is still fantastic and a fitting end to the trilogy.

Yeah it was much more effective in that.

It would probably have to be a CGI suit, Green Lantern style(although it's funny because that movie absolutely did not need that). Otherwise we'll be stuck with a hulking tank forever.

I don't know what you found so great in Eckhart. Some forced actions and foreshadowing. He was entertaining and the guy is a good actor, but nothing to write home about.

the only performance in these three movies that stayed with me was ledger's.

the rest was just fine.

I really thought Ledger's performance was the only fantastic one. So good that it made the movie better and helped Nolan career a bit. I don't know if the Joker's voice was altered at all, but it came out very natural. If it was all real then he did a great job at changing himself. That's one of the problems I had with Bane, it felt fake. The first fight scene between him and Batman seemed off. Also, I think the Joker voice was so remarkable that Nolan felt he had to do something to make Hardy's seem just as threatening. It totally failed for me though. It was like it was duct taped.

I'm most likely in the minority with this (or I'm not sure, haven't read this topic that much) but I think Bane was a better villain than Joker in the trilogy. I wanted Batman to kick Bane's ass so bad but I didn't feel that with Joker.
