College Football Week 14 - Conference Championship Games and Pseudo Championships

Honestly if that were the case I don't think the voters would drop Georgia below #4 and then you just got to hope on the computers. But then that makes this game sort of pointless (aside from "seeding").

So then you put a third, two lose SEC team in over a one loss Big 12 champion Kansas State team? And who is to say the computer system wouldn't drop UGA enough to fall out of the top four?

I just realized why that Georgia derp ending bothered me so much.

It reminds me really strongly of the Kevin Riley Bonehead Game (TM) from the "#1 for 20 minutes" season.

Gtech fans (I guess Giga), do you like the option offense you guys run or would you prefer if you got a coach that could install something different?

Why would they like it? You can't beat any good teams running it. It might be effective against bottom feeders of the ACC, but you aren't going to compete with any other good team running it

There have been effective option teams in the past, including some Gtech teams. And it can be fun to watch. I don't know.

Ha, I got all three answers right!

Seriously wish ESPN had the rights to Aussie Rules again though, live sports of any kind (even if it is at 3AM EST) is better than 15 hours straight of sportscenter bullshit.

Has Kent State accepted the Military Bowl invite yet? It doesn't look like NIU (whose lost their second coach right before a bowl game in last two years) will be getting that BCS shot.

Who do you want as coach though? Petrino?

It is hard to believe Yaboosh, but Calvin Johnson went to GT lol
Petrino? No way on hell. Our program already has enough baggage. He would leave the program in shambles in the 2-3 years he'll take to leave for a different team.

Not sure really. I didn't think I'd be calling for a new coach right now and I know a lot of teams are looking too. So crappy time to be wanting a new coach when we don't have an unlimited budget. Either way I think GOL's job is safe as our president loves him.

Sounds right to me...

NIU is 21st.

To get to 16th they need 5 of these things to happen (3 have already happened):

#13 FSU to lose to GTT
#14 Clemson won't play / can't lose (can't happen)
#15 Oregon State to lose to Nicolls State
#16 UCLA to lose to Stanford (done)
#17 Kent State to lose to NIU (done)

#18 Texas to lose to KSU
#19 Michigan won't play / can't lose and likely will move up in the rankings and have too high a computer for NIU to pass (can't happen)
#20 Boise State will be passed even if they win, so this game is likely inconsequential (done)

They also have to worry about Okie St clobbering Baylor and passing them in the rankings (unlikely)

They've hit all the lottery numbers so far, but having FSU or Oregon State to lose seems to ridiculously long odds, while most expect Texas to lose to KSU.

Sorry to bring this back again, but I've been using this as my guideline for following games today. Say Nebraska (at 12) goes down, would that be a decent replacement for the FSU loss that looks unlikely to happen?

Matt Canada is calling an amazing game so far. For some reason he has had terrible gameplans for the 2nd half in several games this season, so hopefully that won't repeat.

I think it's more of a talent issue.
The option is a good offense if you've got a QB that has at least some passing competence to keep defenses on their toes and help make variation in attack more effective.
Tevin Washington is, statistically, a worse passing QB than Reggie Ball.
Let that sink in for a bit.
The ball NEVER goes in the air.

The talent issue is the offense. Johnson came in, there was at least some talent, and the team took a bunch of people by surprise. That talent has graduated. They're not going to get athletes when they are competing against teams running pro-style offenses or the spread.

But this is just my arm-chair analysis. Some of it might even be right.

The problem here is GT sucks and the outcome is not in doubt in the slightest. Your average fan would rather stay home and watch Bama, UGA. Duke and UNC had home Bball games today and tickets were available for both. Your average ACC fan in NC would rather see them.

It could be if this stomping keeps up.
