Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Gemma Arterton, Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley and Keira Knightley all auditioned for the role of Selina Kyle. After the initial audition process, Hathaway, Biel and Knightley all screen tested. Ultimately, Anne Hathaway won the role.
Biel would've been splendid in that outfit.Dawsoncry.gif
Cinematographer Wally Pfister expressed interest in shooting the entirety of the film in the IMAX format, as both Pfister and Christopher Nolan expressed distaste for shooting the film in 3-D. Ultimately, the film would feature approximately 72 minutes of IMAX footage, while the rest was shot in a combination of 35mm and 70mm, as IMAX cameras proved to be too noisy for shooting the films dialogue scenes.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Gosling and Mark Ruffalo were considered to play John Blake before Joseph Gordon-Levitt was ultimately cast. DiCaprio was one of the actors considered to play Robin in Batman Forever before Chris O'Donnell got the part.
According to Christopher Nolan, Bane was chosen as the film's main antagonist "to test Batman mentally as well as physically."
To prepare for her role as Catwoman, Anne Hathaway worked out five days a week on a regime that involved vigorous exercise, stunt training and dancing. She called it her most physically demanding role to date.
This is the fifth film in a row that Christopher Nolan has worked with Michael Caine. The other films were Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, and Inception.
The original story treatment by David S. Goyer was to have Two-Face as the principal antagonist for the film. Initially, at the end of The Dark Knight, the Joker would have scarred Harvey Dent at a courtroom trial, setting up the third film. Dent's death and fall was put in at the end of the second film instead to set up the aftermath that follows.
Out of respect for Heath Ledger, the Joker is never once mentioned for the whole film.
When Commissioner Gordon talks about "giant alligators" being in the sewer line, this may be an intentional nod towards Batman villain Killer Croc.
According to costume designer Lindy Hemming, she took two years to design Bane's coat; it was inspired by a Swedish army jacket and a French Revolution frock coat, to make Bane look equally dictatorial and revolutionary, "like an amalgam of all sorts of bits and pieces he cobbled together as he passed through some very remote places."
Selina Kyle's catsuit was made from two layers of polyurethane-coated spandex.
While doing promotional interviews for the film Tom Hardy stated that the most difficult parts of the movie to shoot were the fight scenes. Not because of the physicality of them, but because he was such a huge Batman fan growing up that he said "it felt like I was beating up my childhood hero". However he also said that despite his worship of the character, the moment Chris Nolan yelled 'action' Hardy just started throwing punches as hard as he could.
The final chase sequence and subsequent bombing where countdown of the time-bomb is 12 minutes is depicted as though in real time.
Biel would've been splendid in that outfit.
Her cat-woman outfit in Chuck & Larry was good enough.
Should have gone for Lynn Collins.
Biel would've been splendid in that outfit.
Too bad she can't act for shit.
17 hours till I bath myself in milk and purify myself before watching the GLORY.
Yeah, but is that a factor when the film is TDKR?
Yeah, but is that a factor when the film is TDKR?
HEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
I don't know, did Sam Worthington play Batman?
No, but he out-acted Batman in a shitty movie called Terminator Salvation.

You're getting the trilogy? or you mean just TDKR. I don't think I've ever done a marathon of a series of movies. Do you plan on doing so?

the hell was he even thinking with catwoman in the first place
goddamnit
may as well introduce solid supernatural elements
I ordered the Cowl edition, which is on its way from Amazon, and I hope to pick up the steel book from best buy. I was contemplating the trilogy, but I already own the other two.
No, but he out-acted Batman in a shitty movie called Terminator Salvation.
Really? Was he supposed to be playing a piece of cardboard whose accent changes every 5 minutes? If so he totally nailed it.
Very nice touch. Irks the hell out of me when that doesn't happen.
wonder what the ratio is of people itt who consider the nolan saga as either a duology or trilogy
the end of tdk imo is a better conclusion to the batman legend, anyway
Have you noticed that nobody has bit on your blatant troll bait for like the last 2 days? There's a reason for that.

The Prestige <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Batman Begins = The Dark Knight = Inception who cares The Dark Knight Rises
Do you guys ever read IMDB trivia? Well you should. Here are some (in addition to the one about Biel Dawsonscry.gif) that stuck out to me:
Really glad they made that call. That camera seems like a giant encumbrance for the most part. It seems to be why all the shots during the chase in TDK were so damn flat.
Not gonna lie. Curious to see what Gosling would've done with the role (loved JGL but still).
Sort of missed the mark on the "mentally" part.
Should've worked on datass.

I feel like I would've hated this.
RIP
Didn't even catch this.
Two years...
And one layer of super boring and a thin layer of uninteresting.
Isn't kind of great how you can grow up being so amazed by something then start down a path that will require you to utterly destroy it later on in life?

Pics.
8/10I don't know how much more I can rise.
Inception is not better than The Prestige.
I liked catwoman in the bike a lot.
I was thinking what I liked the most about the movie and it's mostly scenes with catwoman in them. To me she was the best character or at least the most interesting one.
Are you saying they didn't look frighteningly real?
O...my...a God......you sir, are a gentlemen and a scholar. Especially since you know The Prestige is the best Nolan filmFull effect not captured though I'm afraid:

I didn't say it.

I was more into Blake personally. He and Alfred were the only two aspects of that story I gave a damn about. Very minority opinion I find.
It looks like they're trying to do the ultimate exclusive League of Shadows fistbump, but instead it just turned out awkward.
Alfred was very good in the little time he was in. I liked Catwoman because it felt that she was part of the story, plus she was very expressive. I'm not saying JGL was bad, but his character felt forced into the story to me. I could never shake that feeling off.

When Alfred cried at the end, I couldn't hold back the tears.![]()
At the end it didn't move me but the scene where he leaves Bruce. Oh man I had to control it.
There is no music in the background and Cain nails the emotion in that scene. You almost get the feeling he just wants to say "YOU ARE MY SON!"
But isn't that similar to what happened to Iron Man and the Avengers?
True yet you always knew it was part of the Avengers. It was stated as such from the start. There was a scene for it at the end.
And while Iron Man 1 operated in a "real world" it never had the feel of any of the Nolan Batman movies. Not that it failed to create it, I don't think that was their goal.
Doing the tie in now to the Nolan movies would be obviously forced and something the director never wanted.
Batman is bigger than Nolan. Just like the Joker was bigger than Nicholson and even Heath. Batman will live on and they can't keep holding on to what Nolan created. At best they can learn from it and takeaway the fact that people will continue to pay good money to see Batman movies so long as the people behind them actually care for the character and the source material.
And since there is a chance of Bat fatigue if they just start another series right away, the best way to introduce a new Batman would be through the JL movie first before his own set of solo movies.
