Now I'm really curious on how your reaction to the PacRim trailer will be. ;P

Not sure how a comic sets up a movie when 99% of the movie audience won't have seen the comic.
They did it with the last film. Did you know Nero's ship was using Borg technology?
Does the Bluray have the comic on it?

Did the writers of the movie even know this or were involved in that decision? Since again probably less than 99% of the people watching the movie are going to read a crappy IDW tie in comic.

Dunno if they're doing the same thing as ST or not (shorter teaser debuts online, full trailer debuts in theaters).

Oh, obviously not. I don't consider it canon either. At this point though, it's a nice companion piece to the film and explains a lot.
Such a joy to watch the redlettermedia review about that one

I don't believe so. I think you can get the digital copies for cheap from IDW.
Kurtzman and Orci were involved with the 'countdown' comic, and helped write the tie-in story featured in it. So yes, they were aware of the 'borg' bit and were likely the ones who put it in there.
They are also involved with the new game as well as the "countdown into darkness" comic coming before the film in May, all of which are considered Canon by the Bad Robot crew.
I can never buy into the comics as canon though. I think I've been burned too many times in Star Wars and Doctor Who to believe anything is canon unless I get a signed certificate from the guy/gal running the franchise.
Still, it's a good 4-part comic though.
I do wonder if the rest of the titles will be "Star Trek... (Finish this sentence)." Star Trek Into Darkness has grown on me.

But then I remember Lindelof is on this. Ugh.
The porn parody could be called "Star Trek Into Bold Come"
I dunno, I'm not an Abrams fan really, but I've enjoyed ST since I was a child and enjoyed the reboot. I understand how people can want less action and more philosophy and mythology from ST. Personally, I've always felt ST was a great open-ended universe open to a large variety of themes, much like Doctor Who. To an extent I feel like the less your fans can agree on what the best episodes/films are, the less stagnant and predictable you are. Also of the reason I've enjoyed the broad changes in flavor the new Doctor Who has had since it resumed.

Would you guys rather have the dude who wrote Lost and Prometheus (flaws and all) leading the way, or the dudes who wrote the Transformers movies?
And you people, you're all...astronauts... on some kind of star trek?
https://twitter.com/simonpegg/status/276770648834060288It's fun reading the speculation surrounding the Star Trek trailer, seeing all the questions, all the while, knowing ALL the answers. *grin*
That line made me groan in FC.
Neither, but if my life was on the line it would be Transformers. No question.I don't get it...

Prometheus looked beautiful but the only thing that prevented it from being totally boring was how dumb the characters were.
I hate to be that guy, but the only thing that prevented it from being completely boring for me was Noomi Rapace in her underwear.
People in this thread are saying that too.some people on youtube are saying the blonde girl is going to turn out to be this lady from the first episode of Star Trek:

That was my thought. Which makes Cumberbatch Gary Mitchell.
Another movie that contrasted the series. They all but ignored the prime directive when Picard was so adament about keeping it upheld in the series.
I just hope the bridge of the Enterprise doesn't look like an Apple Store this time.
I'm in this for Cumberbatch and the returning cast.
That is all.
HE SAID THE NAME OF THE SERIES!
I bet you don't groan when people go "Doctor...who?"
I can confirm that he's playing Khan.
Gary Khan.
It's not like the first Transformers movie was much better. To be fair, TF1 is a pretty decent action movie (don't listen to the internet trolls) and TF2 was made during the writers guild strike, so they weren't there to steer Michael Bay in the right direction. Orci & Kurtzman have both expressed disgust with how TF2 turned out, and I'm not going to place blame directly on them.
