Yeah that one. I thought it felt similar to ID4, and i liked the 'character development" of Bumblebee.
Lol, there was far to much emphasis on humans in the films, as nice as megan fox looked, and damn she was fine, I really didn't give a poop about her or sam at all.
As far as we know there is none, he is a small character generally for one small storyline, if this is him that is probably why they used him because he was a small character they could do anything with in this alternate universe.

Upon rewatching, it looks like his plan may start with actually crashing the Enterprise into Earth, at least that was the vibe I got from the crashing ship and Sulu looking frustrated at his control panel

Unlike Khan, his OS appearance was pretty unmemorable. Aside from the fact that it the second pilot, I don't think anyone really considers it to be a classic.
I mostly agree with the bold. I would also add that the studio probably liked that the character basically enables them to make this a super hero film.

They wont. Kirk, Spock and McCoy will be safe. Those other people though are probably expendable. Although...maybe the could kill McCoy and bring in Nurse chapel to replace him.

I guess. It just sounds like Kahn to me,with the whole "I have returned to have my vengeance" line. I don't put it past them, to totally be leading us towards Kahn for it just to be Mitchell.

Looks interesting...I really loved the first Star Trek reboot so I'm looking forward to this as well! And I'm not even a Trek fan!
I think it'll probably be Gary Mitchell seeking revenge for Kirk leaving him for dead on the rim. Maybe based on that comic that retreaded the story in the new universe recently, maybe not. ST'09 kind of demonstrated that they're not afraid to build on stories they haven't told in full, and the audience ate it up anyways.

Didn't Mitchell's powers grow as time passed? It could be a case of him starting out as a superhuman Khan-like soldier, and by the end of the film be a psionic god.

It'll be kind of hard to build a believable backstory with the two of them being friends, especially since he's such an unknown character to the greater public.

Starfleet Uniform + Seemingly super powered + knows Kirk well = Sounds like Mitchell.
in TOS, I believe Mitchell was an old friend of Kirk's and he was also the original tactical officer before Chekov (in 'The Cage')

All the evidence points to 'Gary Khan' launching (at least) a two stage attack on Starfleet. It looks like a meeting involving Starfleet hierarchy is stormed. Spock is in the room standing, perhaps giving a presentation, before someone gets shot with a phaser. We also see a starship being flung into buildings and hit the water.
We later see a memorial being given headed by Kirk affording a speech. The only thing I'm confused by is how the Enterprise becomes submerged in the first place.

That's what I'm thinking.
It would explain the lack of glowing eyes as well. He wouldn't get those until the end.

TF2 is a steaming turd compared to TF1, and TF1, while not an amazing film, is actually pretty decent.
Orci and Kurtzman's best work is ST09, their worst work is TF2 (with the writers guild strike excuse to some extent), and TF1 squarely falls in the middle.
