Uncanny Avengers #2 is weird, the initial few cap/wolverine/thor pages were stiff and awkward but eventually it picked up after the broadcast.

From #1, #2, & #3. Whenever Land isn't doing... THIS FACE... it seems Tom Cruise is the go-to celebrity for tracing Tony's more serious faces.

Where did you get this/who do I credit when I post this on Twitter?

I just don't get it. What does Marvel editorial even do when checking over pages, or do they even bother anymore?

"Ah, I see... you've drawn that same weird asian face in all three premier issues..."
"Is that a problem?"
"NO. NO PROBLEM. HERE'S YOUR CHEQUE. MAKE SURE ITS IN #4 TOO. I LOVE IT. DON'T HURT ME."

Can people stop buying any book Greg Land is on, en masse? Or will that even work? Do we have to hire someone to chop off his hands? WHAT CAN BE DONE?!

lmao love it.

I don't understand why the weird tracing guys don't just trace RDJ? It just makes sense if they're gonna be doing it anyway. Cast the books properly.

The indomnible Pie and Beans of course.

With Larroca I think tracing must at least eat away at some part of his now cursed soul due to his far longer "no tracing" stint at Marvel, and tracing is often an art of "I hope they don't find out..." self loathing and thus tracing RDJ would be too obvious a smoking gun. But then you get someone like Land who will trace the same shit face 5 times in an issue, and then replicate that face for another 5 issues. I don't think Larroca ever did that at the very least, so while you weren't getting quality work, you were still managing to avoid panels that look THE EXACT FUCKING SAME FACE, THAT GODDAM FACE, WHY.

I don't think I recognized more than 40% of the people on the last page of Avengers #1. Also why do they make it seem like the movie avengers has been the avengers team forever? Hulk was in like the first 2 avengers comic and thats it and Hawkeye was dead for like 5 years. It seems like they pulled a geoff johns and retconned the teams history like Johns did with Justice League so that only his team of 7 were ever the justice league.

Gee, I dunno maybe it's because the Avengers movie made literally a billion dollars?

How did they retcon it? The comic literally refers to the exact last panel of Bendis' Avengers run. You actually couldn't be less retconning if you started an imprint called CD Scimoc.

I can't fathom how people fork over the cost of singles for art that bad. I don't care how good the writing is. That shit is hideous.

I pulled some Ant Man issues out of my collection and was marveling at just how much Cory Walker recycles in his own work.

And generally wondering how he makes a living since he doesn't do much comic work.

3 Captains on the Avengers? I predict a "whos' on first" situation.

According to interviews, Captain America leads the main team. Captain Marvel and Iron Man are co-captains, and for bigger events, they become the captains of their own smaller teams.

Invincible 98 was cool, although...

The Angstrom Levy/Technicians conversation was confusing... One second they say he's under their orders, and one second next they don't need him anymore.

Still, the escalation for the arc seems similar to Ultimatum, but I trust that Kirkman will pull a great resolution for #100.

Already on my pull list, been there since announced. :)

I like the idea that after hearing the pitch editors were fighting over who would get this book.

It's best to get on Young Avengers early so you can build attachments to characters who get killed off in Avengers Arena 2, otherwise their deaths will be pointless.

I'm not even going to be reading Avengers Arena. But I could use some new characters to like, and - oh fuck. It's not like Marvel's going to make any of them grow reasonably older and become strong and established in their own right...

Probably best not to get too attached and yet... I would like at least one character I think is cool.

Ah well, I'll still pick up issue 1 for no reason at all, because fuck it. And I guess the fact that I'm not even 20 yet helps a bit.

I'll be buying this book because of Gillen. I think the guy is a fantastic writer, and if not for Land I'd have bought more of his work before (I've tried, but I just can't make myself buy things when Land is involved).
I had no knowledge or no interest in the book's cast sans Loki (because I loved JiM) but that didn't change the fact I knew I'd be buying it from the moment it was announced, and I'm sure they'll be able to make me interested in the rest of them in fairly short order (and I have since read Hawkeye and found I quite like Kate).
The fact McKelvie is involved is fantastic too, because he did great work on Phonogram.
All in all, I'm really looking forward to it :)

Hellboy in Hell was good. I didn't feel too lost jumping into it as my first Hellboy comic. I like the paper quality Dark Horse uses.

Hellboy in Hell was good, and the art was amazing as expected since Mignola was drawing, but if this is your first Hellboy comic do yourself a favor and grab the earlier stuff like Seeds of Destruction, Wake the Devil, Box Full of Evil and Right Hand of Doom. Those four are the obligatory Hellboy reading IMO.

I miss the older Hellboy stuff, the new comics are good but they don't hold a candle to the older ones.

Edit: Forgot Conqueror Worm! Don't forget about Conqueror Worm man! Lol!

Swamp and Animal Man #14: I'm sick of both books and as soon as Rotworld ends i'm done. I actually liked both issues, but how this story has been told is RIDICULOUS. If you read both books right now it's mirror images between the two, same plot structure of a few pages in the future, then a few pages with Baker's family/Abigail respectively. They would have to quadruple ship this book just to get anywhere.

I have to wait an extra year for Phonogram 3 to bring you motherfuckers Young Avengers SO YOU BETTER BUY IT!!!

I feel like they saw the initial success of swampy and animal man and were like, lets take the rot theme to the MAXXXX. And then they were like, we planned this from the beginning!

Phonogram delay has nothing to do with YA, according to Gillen and McKelvie. The plan was never for McKelvie to take up Phonogram full-time; it was for him to simultaneously do Phonogram and Marvel work, which is actually semi-possible now that Mike Norton is drawing the backgrounds for McKelvie's books.

If they said that I'm sure it was to placate raving fanboys. I find it hard to believe there isn't some relation to both of their increased workloads and a year+ delay of their niche indie book which will probably early them not very many dollars.

its a shame teen titans isnt very titans like anymore

DAT TIM DRAKE ORIGIN STORY. I commited suicide, but the Universe reset itself 3 times to bring me back to make sure I read that issue. Why DC? Why do you get people to invest time and money and give a fuck about something, and then take it away and pee all over it? It was my fault for caring, I know.

edit:

I just had a paranoid epiphany. What if the new 52 was supposed to be KNOWN bullshit, like Flashpoint was known to be an altered world. And the cracks between the seams will show over the next year or so, and Tim Drake and other select people who have had their backstories crafted out of 5 minute paper mache, will be integral in finding this out, and with the help of Booster Gold and Rip Hunter, they track down Pandora and put everything back the way it was supposed to be. And things like that shitty backstory are just clues that this incomplete, imperfect false world is an intended sham.

Art was terrible, Story was ok.

I'm no fan of Steve Dillon's, but it's kinda hard to criticize him on the same page as someone like Greg Land who I think is doing far more harm to comics as a medium. Thunderbolts was just a boring read and a poor start to a book with a team that could have been a lot of fun.

Horrible. Aside from out of place and comically silly flashbacks, nothing happens. Worst use of the Punisher in ages.

oddly punsher war zone was one of the best use of pusiher in ages

its his faces that do it for me

I plan on getting the first Library Edition if I don't get it for Christmas.

The saddest thing about Greg Land is that he's been around for awhile and was actually decent to good. No tracing and actual drawing. As much as I like Gillen and Iron Man, I just can't give any of my money to Land
