How active is the online on PS3? I played on the 360 version and it was decent. I sold my console and don't own a gaming PC but I am real tempted to pick it up. Kinda leaning towards PS3 cause of the larger community, free online, Demon Souls which I've never played. PC I'm sure will run great but the PC community rarely has over 1k players on at a time. I'm big on PVP.

Well, you can make it harder. But that would actually require a lot more effort than simply adding an in-game resolution option!

You're right of course. I just wanted to let people know what I expect.

I think it will be a normal PC version this time around. Same assets, much better IQ and framerate, still GFWL.

It better not. I mean I hope someone at BAMCO is smart enough to know that pc gamers don't want that shit.

It's active. Special invasion items like the Blue Eye Orb fail to connect most of the time though.

A week ago I got summoned within 2 minutes like 3 times in the depths, and invading was going pretty good too. Should be quite active still. PS3 is the least amount of people who can hack/change file/etc too. And you should definitely play Demon's Souls too.

Tomohiro Shibuya is the director? Anybody worried about this.

I hope he doesn't butcher it up with easy-medium-hard...all this articles I've been reading recently about FROM wanting to appear to a wider audience makes me scared.

Tbh I'll be surprised if Namco doesnt even consider a WiiU version seeing as how they seem pretty close with nintendo atm.

Multiple difficulty levels wouldn't work efficiently considering how the Souls series does online play.

Yeah I faced more than a few glitchers on the 360. How did the patch effect PvP? On paper it sounded great to remove ninja flip giants. Is there more variety now or has some other cheap gimmick class taken its place?

At first I thought it looked too much like Dragon Age 3 or some shit like that and was disappointed, but after a few more views the trailer grew on me a little. I'll have to see gameplay.

At worst, we'll get another game full of beautiful art, interesting lore, heavy atmosphere, and some at least decent combat. The more popular the series gets, the easier it'll likely become. Really don't think there's a way around that bit.

I'm so hyped right now. I was not expecting it to be announced at the VGAs. When I was watching the trailer I was thinking "Weird, that looks like an armour set from Dark Souls" or "Damn that's like an exact copy of the bridge from the painted world of Ariamis", but I was thinking that it might have be a trailer Dragon Age 3 or something... For some reason it didn't seem to me like DS was the kind of game to get an announcement at the VGAs.

When I saw the title I jumped up and down saying "F'CK YEAH" even though my family was around. I must have looked like a complete idiot but who cares, we're getting DARK SOULS 2, and on PC DAY ONE. HECK YEAH.

FROM probably has little idea what a Durante is, or how a Durante saved their asses on the PC port.

But hopefully they put an intern on it at least, this time.

Man... this can't possibly true can it? I know there is a language barrier, but I don't know anyone who doesn't associate Dark Souls PC with Durante's mod.

The art direction is really amazing. Can't wait to see a next-gen Dark Souls. Emissive particles, volumetric fog, fluids, dynamic cloth. Gonna be some fucked up creatures and worlds.

If it hasn't already been mentioned yet, the PC link on the official website links to a GFW page on xbox.com, with heavy emphasis on GFWL. But it's not exclusively about GFWL.
hope?

Considering the top of steam news right on the game's library page had it for so long, they must know. At worst, Bamco should.

I'd love if this were an next gen launch titles (simultaneous).

Yes, a complete next gen souls is basically a dream, but for the long hours of exploring and learning the game world a couch is a blessing. Anyone think it might fall into that same Gun/NFS:MW (the first time they called a game most wanted this generation) camp?

And the mark is in the logo, which suggests it's even the same world.

Not sure how I feel about that.

I'd really prefer they did a diferent world per game, with vague connections between them like with ICO and SOTC.

But I'm fine with this

Don't say things like that. I came here for some reassurance. If I just wanted lore and atmosphere I'd stick with Skyrim. Its the gameplay, difficulty design and combat mechanics that makes Souls games so special. If they go easy-medium-hard they lose all of it in an instant.

Is this old news?

According to this article on Game Watch (Japanese) the platforms are 360, PS3 and PC.

http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20121208_577902.html

Just adding some more details now that I actually read the article.

It mentions that the game is being co-developed by FROM and Bandai Namco games. It will be published domestically in Japan by FROM, but Bandai Namco will handle the overseas releases.

It states that it will carry over the concepts of the original, but will be an entirely new world and story. One of their goals this time around is to create a completely natural-feeling experience that makes the player feel as if they are in teh game world.

Finally, it says they plan to create dedicated servers for the game to improve the online experience!

So what were shy guys doing in that trailer.

As Jessica alba was talking about Mario then I saw the shy guys that's all I could think about. Then it said dark souls 2 I was like screaming yesssss and clapping then I thought... Why call it dark souls 2 why not something souls

Yes.

There is still tons they can do to keep it challenging too. Not having the crutch that is magic for one would fix tons of balance issues.

EDIT: Dedicated servers? Yes please. One of the biggest fucks up ever.

Hopefully this means they have some technical advisors from Bandai Namco, specifically for the PC version.

Namco Bandai has made the announcement as well, confirming that this game is for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Souls series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki will serve as supervisor, while From Software's Tomohiro Shibuya will be the director.

So no i think we're i the right hands.
