Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

Shit looks awesome, between this and IM3 its gonna be another crazy good summer, man comic book fan heaven. Back in the 90's we would've killed for something half as good as what we have today. Best of luck Supes, he may be a boring ass super hero but I like Kal-El/Clark.

In the past five years, I think I got most hyped by Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, again where the trailer was better than the film.

The best for me was Where the Wild Things Are with Arcade Fire, Jonze could have stopped at the trailer and it would have been a brilliant adaptation of the book.

Would also love to see Idris Elba as Luthor, just for giggles.

Past footage never really reminded me of a Zack Snyder film, but this one looks EXACTLY like what I'd picture a Zack Snyder take on Superman to look/feel like in terms of cinematography.

I'm not exactly sure if that's a good thing. It fit Watchman and 300, but Superman has always seemed like something that would have a bright and colorful pallet, with crisp and non-gritty visuals.

so what? It was a great teaser BUILT on nostalgia.

So what? The movie is telling me how great John Williams' score and Richard Donner's 1978 film are, not how great SR should be. That's what. Teasers need to get me hyped for the film in question, not older ones.

This trailer makes a great case for a bearded superman.

1) Does Superman's hairs fall off like humans (you know, like your body loses and grows new eyelashes, body hair, etc).

2) If it does, does it retain all of Supes inherent invincibility?

3) Could it be collected and used as a sort of super material?

4) Who cuts his hair?

Oooh Where the Wild Things. Another absolutely perfect trailer; great mix of "Wake Up." Way better than the movie too.

Where the Wild Things Are is a great choice.

Still, Inception is king.

I have no deep understanding of Pa Kent's background, so I don't really have any problem with "maybe". If anything, it makes the character more interesting with just that little detail.

So, that's it for teasers.

Best trailer of the past five years.

Best of the past 10 years.

Come at me.

Incoming "Best teaser/trailer of the past decade" thread.

Feels like the interesting stuff took up maybe 30% of that trailer. They're really gonna do a full Nolan and keep it concealed right up to release, eh?

Have you not seen superman IV: the quest for peace?

Looks pretty good. Not very hype worthy but better than I expected.

All the emotional cloying felt a bit weird though.

Or a more practical vision of him.

Jonathan Kent has been trash in almost every media depiction that I can recall.

Ever watch Smallville? For all of it's good and bad points, John Schneider as Jonathan Kent was a masterful casting act, and he did the character so much justice. Picture him saying this in Smallville, or even the cartoon Jon Kent in TAS, you just can't do it.

Where the Wild Things Are trailer was better than that maudlin sad-sack of a movie

While we're on Fincher, Curious Case was a great one.

and the original Cloverfield trailer worked like gangbusters when you had NO idea WTF was going on and it sent the internet crazy

Superman has never been a particularly compelling character to me so the fact that this isn't a typical Superman film makes me more interested. Plus I just think it's a good trailer.

That looks HOT. I don't fully trust on Snyder just yet, but if Nolan's involved then I'm sold.
he put up some money for it. im glad hes not fully involved. he would have ruined snyders fantastic action scenes with his inability to edit and film action sequences.

nolan has not made a decent film since memento.

Like I mentioned before, the show was just too lousy for me to watch on a regular basis. It seemed like every episode I was recommended to watch, they took the formula from a film/television show and adapted it to the Smallville universe.

Other than the one where Clark had to choose to let his dad die or some girl, I don't recall ever seeing an episode with him doing anything supportive. The only Jonathan Kent depiction I remember enjoying was from Superboy.

I have a feeling its just the way its edited. Hearing the other lines from Jonathan is right on point regarding him building Clark into the person he'll become.

yea, probably misdirection. he probaby has some lines after that.

So the second half of the trailer music was from Elizabeth: The Golden Age? Too bad. Not that the song wasn't a great fit; I was hoping for at least a glimpse of Zimmer's score.

I'd be surprised if he even began work on it yet. Don't most scoring sessions happen just a few months away from release?

About John Kent, it seems like they're really exploring the idea of Clark having two fathers; one teaches him to protect himself from the world, while the other wants him to do great things. I never really cared that much for John before so I actually find this approach kind of interesting.

Anyways, loved the trailer. A few shots look a bit weird, but I'm probably being overly critical as Sucker Punch is still very fresh in my mind... still, Synder may pull it off.

I'd love to know how Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Inception aren't decent movies.

Clark - "So I should have just let him die?"

Pa Kent - "Maybe."

I take issue with this.

There will definitely be more to this. It's terrible advice to give to Kal-el at that age.
