....what? How does this even make sense in any context?

And how do you no see that you're the one overreacting, when you're talking about "paying to kill you and your family" and "like minded circle jerkers." How does any of this sound acceptable to you?

Alright I admit the "paying to kill you and your family" was of poor taste and a terrible attempt at humor. That came out of frustration of this and personal life complications. That is not excusable and for that I apologize.

One doesn't have to look to see how people grabbed torches and pitchforks upon this book's announcement. Even more so after seeing the spoilers and having (potentially) no context of the situation at hand. There are even those who did read the issue in full and instead of seeing everything in full, seem to be more focused on the idea that "this is just a mindless kill book and marvel wants to kill characters I have grown attached to". This a character study. Anybody who gives a shit about these characters should be happy to get to know them in this way, for better or for worse. Truth be told, while it's grim, a character study is as intimate as a creator CAN get with a fictional character. It shows a strong desire to know how they think and feel and move.

The change to Arcade though (and understandably since the story has just started) not really explained, is awesome given the situation. He is now someone you really should be worried about and he is here to do what Arcade has always sought out to do. He wants you to die for his amusement.
he has no vendetta against anyone in particular, he just wants to get the body count started. There is one comment was especially cold to me...that maybe the only reason they're here is cause they're the ones he could readily access (wolverine's school had better security, etc), either way, sucks to be you, time to deal.
You're dealing with someone who's calculating and doesn't seem to see them as people, and more like toys. Have fun trying to reason with him.

Walker does an amazing job with this issue's art work. It just feels so ideal for this book. I found the emotion to be so natural and we have just started with the set up. I can't wait to see what hopeless does when he puts the spot light from player to player.

That is the most that I can say right now as to why I like it. If there were legitimate reasons for the backlash, I'd get it but as of right now, it is premature and that is what gets me annoyed.

Again, my previous comments were written with emotion not yet settled through and for that, I apologize.

It's all good. I see where you're coming from with everything except this line. If you like a character, you're by definition, not going to be overly excited to see that character put to death in a book that exists only to that end.

Now, premature? Sure. We haven't read it all the way through, and it seems to be heavily suggested that this is another virtual Murderworld like Arcade has done in the past. Life bars, god like powers, etc.

Avengers Arena:
I felt nothing. Avengers Academy was a shit book with shit characters. There are only 2 Runaways in this book and they better not even think about killing them. Everyone else is fair game.

How comes they don't do big storylines anymore like Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen. That shit was on the news, had video game tie-ins, and a huge promotional push everywhere. Everyone knew about it. Comics haven't been the same since then.

the Eradicator was so boss...did he get erased in the new 52?

stealing Mesektet's cbr forum post format based on the November sales estimates of Marvel Now titles:

1) All New X-Men #1 181,693
2) Batman #14 159,729
3) Captain America #1 123,667
4) Deadpool #1 118,976
5) Indestructible Hulk #1 118,200
6) Iron Man #1 116,529
7) Fantastic Four #1 114,532
8) Uncanny Avengers #2 114,257
9) Justice League #14 113,094
10) Thor God of Thunder #1 110,443
11) All New X-Men #2 96,436
12) X-Men Legacy #1 87,081

14) FF#1 80,701

20) Iron Man #2 72,902
21) Deadpool #2 67,421
22) Thor God of Thunder #2 65,533
23) A+X #2 64,606

34) X-Men Legacy #2 58,037

55) Avengers Assemble 42,088

96) Journey Into Mystery #646 22,898

112) Red She-Hulk #59 20,668

The drop from #1 to #2 is HUGE. All New X-Men dropped HALF its sales in two weeks from #1 to #2? Thor drops HALF its sales. Deadpool drops HALF it sales. Iron Man is almost half. People just chilling with first issues.

Most of those numbers have little to do with actual demand at that point, as the cut-off date for issue 2 order adjustments would have happened before issue 1 was out. All that shows is that retailers order a ton of issue 1s like they always have. Especially since all of those issue ones had a crapload of variants.

We'll see how some of the Marvel Now series are doing by January or so.

Arcade is going to Arcade. He is a showman and a braggart. Fireworks and other grandiose effects are basically his signature. He is going to make this a fun ride, I think. I also really like the part where he mentions he got the idea
from reading some children's books.
I thought this was a fantastic touch and I adore that Marvel is embracing the source material instead of attempting to just rip off from them. In the Q&A section at the end of the book, Hopeless himself writes "I promise you this won't be an all-action fight book or worse, a meat grinder. It's a character driven story. Every fight and death will be in service to the story. That is what we are shooting for, anyway".

I know this won't settle all unease about this book, but I am hoping this does do something for some.

Of course you do not want to see your favorites die and that is understandable. However, just as there is no guarantee that your favorite will survive, there is no guarantee your character will die. The first death was tragic, but also heroic and brings up many questions for the future regarding particular characters.

By the way, if anyone was curious, the characters I root for are Reptil and Justin (who I am sure is totally screwed).

Also a guy by the name of Drew Chase wrote in at the back of the book to remind Hopeless of Darkhawk's love for plus sized women. Drew Chase deserves a medal for the best letter at the end of this book.

Isn't Kev Walker drawing this? Why does anyone need any other reason to read it? Can't wait!!!

Spoiler theory for SS don't read

Doc ock. He seems to be familiar with spiedy's villains. Plus the way he says how did Parker deal with this

If it was someone else they would refer to him as Peter I think

Mm. I'm sticking with my Smythe prediction. Though it could very well be Octavius. I feel like the "more than I;ve been hit in my entire life" keeps it from being him, but we shall find out!

the Eradicator was so boss...did he get erased in the new 52?

It's funny because everyone I know thought Eradicator was awesome and he was the superman that got the least attention after the storyline was over. That was some real bullshit.

In a perfect world, Dick and Damian would be Batman & Robin and Eradicator would be Superman

That part make me think ock. He is in this state because he has been hit in he head too much

Yeah, he HAD been hit a lot. Which is why I'd think he wouldn't say something like that - he'd say almost more or something. 'Specially considering most of his memories are of being punched.

Can't wait for the salt to flow when one of the runaways die.

I'm Runaways fanboy #1 and I'd be perfectly ok with Chase and/or Nico eating it as long as they take some of those other scrubby fucks down with them. Seriously who is the fucking roster in that book? I don't know anybody. I didn't read Avengers Academy that seems like a prerequisite.

Well those Superior spoiler pages out there at least rule out who it isn't :(

Lame. Sorry youre tied to a shitty blip in the status quo period, Stegman. Shoulda stayed on Scarlet!
