"Remember, with great power comes great responsibility"

Depends on what happens after it. If the scene in the film ends there, it's pretty awful. I don't think it will, though.

I'd love nothing more than for the scene to end with Pa Kent saying "Maybe", as he walks away, shaking his head in disgust.

He didn't already make that choice when he saved his classmates from drowning? Wow, I'm done.

That's what "maybe" implies.

No, it just implies maybe. It implies he doesn't know the answer. Things are never black and white. The movie will make a mistake, though, if every decision young Clark makes is a perfect one.

Man, with the vague and not so vague Bat-puns (Solo) should I be worried about TDKR spoilers in a Superman movie thread?

No, say "maybe", kick a tire of the truck, walk away, tear his show off and throw it at Clark's head.

Seriously, I'd prefer if it ended at "maybe". It's obviously a parental reaction to what could happen if his powers become commonly known (as if it isn't obvious by the voiceover from the hysterical parent about "my kid saw him do it"). I really don't see anything wrong with it, particularly since it's likely Pa Kent may not even know the extent of his powers. Certainly in such a situation a parent wouldn't want to think about losing their own child because they stopped to help others regardless of how noble an act it is.

Besides goody two-shoes superhero parental figures are so damn annoying and overplayed at this point.

The main point at hand isn't that Johnathan shouldn't be worried about Clark it's that 'maybe' is a creepy/odd choice of word. Obviously it's out of context though we don't know what else he says so it's not fair to judge just yet. But if he did just say 'maybe' and then switch topics or walks away that is suspect and deserves an eyebrow raise.

Well, that's not too much to ask.

[raises eyebrow]

Okay, let's move on.

Diane Lane being sexy is good for Ma Kent character.

Clark will hear the sex and want to join in.

...

Agree, this page must be destroyed.

Googled and saw this explanation

Superman's hair is indestructible and can neither be cut nor can it grow in Earth's atmosphere. (S No. 132, Oct 1959)

Any attempt to cut Superman's hair by ordinary means results only in the shattering of whatever scissors are being used, but Superman can cut his own hair when absolutely necessary by subjecting it to the concentrated power of his own X-ray vision. In a red-sun environment, however, where Superman has no super-powers, his hair loses its indestructibility and begins to grow. If Superman undertakes a mission to a red-sun Planet, it is best for him to shave and trim his hair before returning to the yellow-sun environment of Earth, where his hair will once again become indestructible.

Similarly, Superman's fingernails and toenails, which are indestructible and do not grow in the earthly environment, do grow and are destructible on Planets revolving about a red sun.

Man I can't stop thinking about that trailer. I haven't seen something that awe inspiring since maybe T2 and Jurassic Park. It was easily better than any piece of promotional material for Superman Returns and I know some people are going to quickly post the Superman Returns teaser in response to which I say "fuck that teaser"

The only thing I would have done differently is not released any promo stills of the suit and had the teaser trailer end with that scene where you see the military pointing guns at him and all you see is his boot and cape thats it. I would have left him in full costume a mystery for a bit longer.
