Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

I just think it's unfortunate that such a splendid tune that is already attached to the franchise is not used (in any way) by them, instead we get ... well...I'd almost say "generic epic music". Just didn't do it for me. Hopefully Zimmer can finally deliver something that is also memorable, something which I miss these days. Trailer itself is okay, it's really the music that kinda ruins it for me. Cast is great and I liked the shots, the leaked plot sounded awesome as well, so let's hope Zimmer delivers.

I think that's the way it has to be. they need to make a clean break from the donner movies, they have become a noose around the neck of this franchise. time to cut the rope before it chokes the life out of the franchise for good and that would be a terrible thing to happen.

Superman Returns had a whole host of problems, but nostalgia for the old films was a big one. Let it die. That nostalgia has been holding back Superman for a long damn time.

agreed. the williams theme is synonymous with the donner movies and reeves. as good as it is, it's time to put the theme to rest and come up with a new one, otherwise the spectre of reeves and donner will continue to haunt the franchise.

Well, I guess we're never seeing Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern again. A shame.

Well, that didn’t take very long.

News of an ambitious first draft for Green Lantern 2, which would feature Warworld, the Sinestro Corps and reunite much of the cast from the first film have hardly begun to circulate from a Cosmic Booknews report we just covered, and already we’ve been in contact with one of the writers of the supposed draft, who says the report is totally without merit.

“Absolute bulls–t,” writer Marc Guggenheim, who is cited in the report as being one of the writers of the draft in question, wrote us back in an e-mail when linked to the story in question.

Guggenheim offered no other comment on the matter, so the larger question–whether there is a draft, either already submitted to Warner Brothers or at least in the works, for Green Lantern 2–will have to remain a question mark for now. In any case, the one described in great detail in our last report is apparently not real.

I guess it's dead?

good riddance. the first movie was poor on all levels. poor lead, poor villain, poor supporting actors, poor female lead, poor pacing, poor plot but worst of all what that bloody mask.

don't get me wrong, the cg for almost everything else was amazing, but bloody hell that mask was atrocious. just horrifying. ugh.

I didn't think it was possible to make a more boring super hero film than the Dark Knight Rises, but here we are.

are you referring to the trailer or GL? if it's the trailer, can I ask what you find boring about the trailer and why you think it's going to be as boring as rises?

Uh, just noticed the first shot of Zod is him floating in space right outside of the earth's ionosphere.
Superman vs Zod battle in space. Give it to me.

I've watched the trailer a dozen times and haven't noticed this. where does it show this? can someone gif it or screencap it please.

TDKR is a lot of things, boring isn't one of them. Pretty damn entertaining. I love the movie though.

coming off of the dark knight, it didn't pack as much of a punch in comparison. it was also deathly slow at times and suffered from too much exposition, which is something I never thought I would ever say.

at least for me. I know people who think it's the best batman movie of the trilogy with others claiming it's the worst. I don't know where I rank it personally, but batman begins in the best of the trilogy in my opinion. dark knight an rises are probably tied second with dark knight ever so slightly coming out ahead because of the action and joker.

1:52 in the trailer. Look to the righthand side of the frame. See Earth.

huh, can't believe I didn't see it before. thanks.

Don't get me started on GL. What an epic disappointment. I'd have rather had the Jack Black version, because then at least you could say "Well they didn't have the right elements" etc. the film we got was wildly inconsistent in tone, poorly marketed, and contained just enough of the mythos as to harm any chance of doing a faithful reboot.

The only good thing was Mark Strong as Sinestro, and they still screwed that up with the after credit scene that came out of nowhere.

I'm a huge GL fan, and watching the trailers I hoped it would be good, but knew in my gut there was something very wrong.

With this Man of Steel trailer, my gut is happy. I'm a lot more positive this will turn our well.

It'll turn out well. Some people are underrating Snyder, but he's a good fit for this. Especially with Goyer and Nolan doing the story.

So going by the trailer the story is that humanity can't handle superman, but sees its error in the end and he'll make a "sacrifice" and saves humanity? So what's new compared to the previous turd of a superman movie?

Well for one, Superman Returns was the exact opposite of 'humanity can't handle superman'. They were cheering his return.

Green Lantern is an unbelievable waste of time. I don't understand how a movie like that gets made. It's definitely the worst modern comic book movie, worse than anything Marvel has released.

I haven't seen Daredevil or Elektra, is GL worse?

lol, well, I had actually forgotten about those two. I haven't seen Elektra, but I'd be hard-pressed to say if GL is worse than Daredevil. I know some people really like the director's cut of that movie, which I have not seen.

The only thing that I've seen of the Green Lantern movie other than those first, hilarious screencaps is that final trailer where everyone convinced themselves that it actually was going to be a good movie. I said the trailer looked like crap and never devoted another second of my life to the movie. Looks like a good choice in retrospect.

Wish I would've done the same for Superman Returns.

Ah, just kidding. It was okay in parts...very small parts. Thank god they're rebooting this shit.
