So any bets on what will be the cheesy lines in this one?

I'm going with ''No more dead crops!''.

So again, how does Lex Luther know Supermans vulnerable to Kryptonite in Superman 1? Because everytime i watch it sounds like he completely pulls it out of his ass

Didn't Superman tell Lois that in the interview he gave here? Its been ages since I have watched it.

Who would your dream casting be for Luthor? Its a toss of a coin between Tom Cruise or Denzil Washington for me. I'm leaning more towards Washington and possibly have Cruise play Brainiac, if they go down that path.

It's strange how comic fans don't have a problem with white antagonists being played by non-Caucasian actors but get up in arms when someone suggests that one of the superheroes be a man of colour.

Speaking of which, I'm really hoping that because of the massive failure the GL flick was, the next GL incarnation will be John Stewart.

And I'm still lamenting the fact that there will probably never be a black bond.

It's a stretch but he assumes he'd be vulnerable to any radioactive remnants of Krypton and locates such a fragment in National Geographic :o

I fucking despise both. Comics are a visual medium and any race swaps are stupid.

I'm all for other characters of color. Make some new ones.

I don't think I can agree with you on that. Both comics and films are visual mediums, yes, but the change in colour of a character's skin isn't detrimental in the slightest. The details of the visual qualities should be assessed on the fidelity of the camera work, the cinematography, or the quality of the wardrobe. But certainly not on the race of a character. Identity in comics and films is so much more than that.

And I would prefer that as little changes as possible are made to my favorite characters and the source material.

Then you'll rarely ever enjoy a comic film. I think half the fun is allowing good directors interpret superheroes in a way that creates a great theatrical experience.

I concede because of the difference of mediums a director or screenwriter have to make changes or bring their vision to a screen adaptation. But you can have a great theatrical experience without changing races at all. My opinion is that if a change can be avoided and is unnecessary then don't do it.

In a perfect world...

Otherwise...I have no idea.

Good article. Nice to see other news outlets offer their take in the trailer and ultimately interest in the movie, even Yahoo posted a good positive piece about the trailer considering just a couple of weeks ago they listed the film as one of the "Disappointments of 2012" because they ditched the trunks on the costume....

I'm wondering what devilry Warner might be using because in 6 days the trailer has been viewed nearly 21 million times.

If Warner Bros. is hoping for 2013's Man of Steel to carry the torch left behind by Chris Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, they're off to the right start.

Early last week, the studio debuted the first full trailer online (second overall when counting the summer's shorter teaser trailer) and it immediately made waves throughout the Internet. In fact, within 24 hours the film was tracking as highly as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - during the middle of its release week - on our daily Twitter tracking.

Man of Steel yielded over 43,000 tweets on Tuesday, December 11 with an excellent 17:1 positive-to-negative comment ratio. The tweet count represented a 10,674 percent increase in Twitter activity from the day before.

To give an idea of how impressive that single day tweet total is for Man of Steel, it exceeded that of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2's 41,870 tweets generated on the day of its first full trailer's release back in June. The Twilight franchise has always had an incredibly strong following across social media platforms, and while the same can be said of comic book movies and their fans, this kind of interest level is a great sign when considering Superman's disappointing box office history after the early 1980s.

Man of Steel's Twitter activity was also near identical to that of The Dark Knight Rises when its first full trailer debuted online almost exactly one year ago. The Batman finale tallied 41,629 tweets on December 19, 2011, a 997 percent jump from the day before.

Another comparison of note: Marvel's The Avengers debuted its second trailer on February 29 of this year, generating 37,021 tweets on that day and representing an 1,161 percent increase in activity from the day before.

In short: so far, thanks to the large number of online fans and expanded interest that director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan bring to the franchise reboot, Warner Bros. and DC Comics are definitely hitting the right notes when it comes to the first stage of marketing for this highly anticipated summer tent pole.

Man of Steel is currently scheduled for release on Friday, June 14, 2013. You can view the trailer below.

The world is ready for Dark and Depressing Superman.

I'm ready for a darker Superman. I want depressing, and self doubt. I want to shed tears, and question my life. I don't want goofey Avengers stuff.

I think my favorite scene in returns was when Supes fell to earth like a meteor. I remember welling up inside.
