PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Watch them be Escape Plan and Rayman Origins Vita, next week after the sale this week.

From the blog responses:
While some updates to the PS Vita Plus free games is coming shortly; there are some great deals on some PS Vita content with the Holiday Sale like LBP Vita and Rayman Origins. Those games are not slated to be free in Plus for PS Vita in the near future, so it may not be a bad idea to jump on those deals!

From the blog responses:

Oh hahaha thats f'ing hilarious. They finally realize they are making people once bitten twice shy.

I'm probably going to pick up Rayman Oriigins but I would still hold off on Escape Plan no matter what they say. That title screams "Will be free at some point on PS Plus" In fact I notice they didn't mention Escape Plan.

Several months ago, they gave a big discount on inFamous 2, and then a week or two later it became a freebie (as an inaugural game in the "Instant Game Collection" at this year's E3). After that, there was some uproar about Sony giving away a game just after running a sale on it. Even though it was a huge discount, some people still felt angered because they figured Sony must have known they were planning on giving it away for free immediately after the discount ended.

Now I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere a comment from a Sony staffer saying that they would be more conscious and cautious of this occurrence in the future. They said that if a game went on discount, then they would not turn around and make it a freebie for a certain period of time (at least a month or two) afterward. Does anyone else remember reading something like this?

Don't remember reading that but i'm still peeved that i bought Mutant Blobs attack on sale barely a week or two before it become one of the free games in the PS Plus Vita games last month. So if they did say that, they were full of shit.

Yeah, good point, and I bought that game on sale, too. I totally forgot about that one.

Morgan (mochuuu) did say that they would try to avoid sale immediately followed by free, but I doubt it is an absolute.

I want SSDD so bad but I just know it will be free eventually.

The lesson is this: If you're going to be in the PS+ program, DO NOT BUY ANY GAME unless you are totally at peace with it being free or discounted in the near future. If the game and/or price is good enough that you are just fine with it being free in PS+ later, then buy it!

Once you are at peace with how it works there is literally zero anxiety.

This doesn't work for people with SCEE-envy, apparently. ;)

GraveRobberX, sorry you are going silent. It's always more fun with more voices, even if I don't agree with them.

I'd like them go to monthly announcements like EU, so if it does happen, it might not be quite as soon. From their blog comments they seem to be aware of that sentiment, but it may take some time to implement.

AS an aside, since I've been doing this since Saturday on and off (!), it seems to only actually ever download *three* patches in one go when doing this. It still seems to *store* 'up to ten' - if you redo it immediately afterwards it'll kick in with more of the list in storage - but it'll only do three for each shutdown.

I head for Southampton in around fifteen or so hours. And that late discovery along with the discovery of the intriguing bug with the 'welcome back' games (If you download them from the download list in the new store, they show up with the trial icon... and when installing them, they think they're PSP titles and refuse to install! Installing them from the download list in the XMB instead apparently works)... means I'm cutting things awfully fine now!

That's just a recipe for constant headache. People don't buy the games they want to play because "it will be free eventually", and then they get frustrated weekly when the free PS+ game is not something they were anticipating.

The only rule I follow is to not buy games unless I'm starting them right away. No more buying something because it looked nice or had a cool demo and then not getting to it in months.

Personally I got PS+ because I feel like my PS3 is gonna die soon and I didn't want to lose my save files, so anything on top of that is just icing.

But games I'm on the fence about like Black Knight Sword, I certainly have no qualms about not buying because maybe it'll be free in 6 months. It's simply a case of not having the money to take a chance on every digital game I'm semi-interested in.

Are you still rollin with the Old Fattie?

Yep. 80GB Motorstorm bundle. Still got BC. I replaced the thermal paste with Arctic Silver MX-4 but the fan still gets loud as hell when playing disc-based games.

Had to replacing the blu-ray laser in 2010, but otherwise has been running like a champ. The fan getting real loud is a recent development. =(

I picked up PS+ when they had the sale on and backed up my saves to the cloud. My phat PS3 then died about three days later. I dodged a bullet there. Well, my saves did at least. My PS3 took that bullet hard.

The 2 PS Vita games for Plus that are coming in December and Jan 1 are not Escape Plan and Rayman Origins.
Why SCEA doesn't release the same games for PS Plus as SCEE? Some of those games aré even published by the same company in Europe as in the States like Sega with Vanquish or Square-Enix with Sleeping Dogs. Even worse yet is the case of Motorstorm Apocalypse which is a first party title.

I really wanna get Dynasty Warriors but I have a gut feeling it'll be the free game this month for PS+.

It has as good a shot as any of those launch era games I would think (I'm assuming you mean the vita version). Or at the very least it might make one of the following 2 sales in the next 2 weeks.

Are there any sales for PS+ US that anyone knows about? I've been a subscriber since the beginning but don't have a lot of money at the moment and my subscription ended today. I thought I had another few months.

You can get a year for $40 on eBay.

It looks like Dokuro is on sale (U$10) but I'm affraid to buy it and see it becoming a PS+ game.

Discounted games will not be free for a certain time.

I see that Tales of Space: Mutant Blobs is leaving PS+ next week. Time for another free Vita game :) I won't expect a retail game, because there are still 3 retail games on Vita+.

This is a really awful month. I hope EU players complain about Bioshock as much as the US did.

Terrible month. Not touching Gotham Shitty with a 10 foot pole.

Just JSR for me.

E: Oh wait, UK gets Mortal Kombat. That's even worse than GS

Agreed. MK would be great if we weren't getting it today, but we are.

Worst month since the start of the IGC, in my opinion.

I don't think it's so bad for the EU.

I was interested in GOME but was not willing to stump up £12 for it, and Bioshock 2 I'll probably play. Mortal Kombat, meh, I guess if I find I enjoy the Vita version, I might get some play out of it.

Not terrible, but below par, I guess.

Everyone should give Bioshock 2 a go if you havent already, dont listen to the haters as its actually a great game and i had tonnes of fun plying online with it!

I am a bit confused by this.

First of all, Knytt Underground doesn't even show up as a digital game on the irish psn store. Disc only?

Second of all, Mortal Kombat Vita is not free for PS+. It doesn't show up in the IGC section and searching shows it as 39.99.

Are those games actually enabled yet?
