I've been slowly reading through the brand new day stuff and i actually really like the initial issues alot. I like that they are more traditional spider-man stories without getting weird and also introducing new characters, villains and plot elements. So far Joe Kelly's stuff has been the worst he's like a poor man's Grant Morrison and tries to write weird jsut for the sake of it and it comes off retarded. It doesn't help that he gets paired up with really shitty artists that make everything look gross on top of that. I just finished where it was revealed that Menace was
hollister
and I believe the curret arc im on reintroduces Vulture.

To all you floppy or digital buyers, this comes out this week:

I think next year my big comics catchup project will be the Hellboy universe. I'm gonna take the plunge.

I tried and they we're like NO

But to more important matters, Marvel sucks at offing characters. They think killing off main characters sells, but that's bologna. They just need great death moments with even secondary characters or villains. I mean Aries dying was cool as well as Goliath. I'd like to nominate a couple of characters to be killed next year with some reasoning.

Mystique - she's no longer mysterious or a good villain. Nothing of interest, how many times can she be behind plots and not get offed?

Sabretooth -now that you know what to do Wolverine go ahead and do it. This dudes died or been restored dozens of times. In the end he's just a thug with claws that shares a past with wolverine.

its amazing how their revivals just came under the radar for me. they both have potential, but keep getting pushed into the roles of "backstabbing harpy" and "cocky homicidal maniac"
id love to see them both on a thunderbolts type team to let them flesh out in different ways.

Three issues are out. I believe he's doing minis, with the first perhaps being four issues. I was really really impressed, and as much as I love Saga's world building, I think this may work on more levels so far. Big words there, but I really believe in it.

TTOB here turned me on to it, and may know more about the schedule/plan.

Cyborgs and space pirates? Sounds good - I'll definitely look into it. What's its release schedule?

It's a while between issues.

Four issues are out. Issue five is the end of the first story arc.

I believe it's due out in January.

Same here.

Those library editions are too nice.

Exiles had an interesting Sabretooth.

So, the guy who's gonna be taking over Swamp Thing once Snyder's done with Rotworld is... Charles Soule. I have no idea if he's any good. So, there's that.

sigh

i want remender to write a deadpool ongoing. his deadpool is the one i've been clamoring for since nicieza ended his cable & deadpool run...

Also, I just got my Fear Agent Vol. 1 HC in the mail. Holy FUCK it's huge. I mean, it's the size of my Absolute All-Star Superman! Big, beautiful oversized pages of Rick Remender/Tony Moore/Jerome Opena sci-fi adventure, baby.

It is a beautiful book. I'm in love with the artwork after only reading the first issue so far.

Just downloaded Hawkguy #6 on Comixology...

...There are just so many geeky references that I'm even more so utterly in love with this series.

Also, Clint has good taste in movies.

Buffy OHC are Absolute-ish sized too...and all are half the price of Absolutes Xo My Fear Agent OHC is in my next dcbs shipment so i won't get it until the first week of January :(

Erm, WHAT THE FUCK at this week, Marvel. That pull-list. Do you need a fucking advance again like you did in the 90's? Fuck me.

It's to make room for ASM #700 and Avenging #15, because they're SO IMPORTANT AND BIG AND LIFE-CHANGING and shit.

bee tee dubs, the last page of this week's Daredevil.

I brushed on it, but the more dc i read month in and month out, the less i want anything to do with it. JL Dark #14 was a very mediocre read. Half the issue was fun and involved Frankenstein, Amethyst, and Black Orchid going through a b-movie House of Mystery. The other half was DC garbage and closed with
The Phantom Stranger popping in on the last two pages to give a vague warning that DC Events were on their way and Pandora was looking over the situation. You know Pandora, the person no one cares about, DC's Tim Tebow without the 7-4 broncos record. Practice Tebow. Every scene with Constantine, half the issue, felt like a waste of time in that they were TALKING about finding Zatanna without ever actually doing anything.

This issue alone might be enough to drop the book. Wonder Woman #13 and #14 are up next, i expect good things based on previous issues.

Putting Hickman's avengers on my pull list for now since it's Hickman, but not happy about double shipping. Maybe I'm spoiled that most of my books are DC and they've avoided this with their big books, even my previous marvel ones didn't do it.

It's one of those things I suppose. I loved the fact that Hawkeye double shipped this month because the release schedule for it has been all over the place. With Deadpool, it's stupid fun and I pick it up when I get the big books (AXM & Avengers); of course with the big books, they're a $1 more which adds up easily, thus I usually try to get them after the second book's shipped for the month.

While cost is the biggest factor (if you're going to double ship I'd appreciate a $3 price point so I don't get completely bent over) I also think double shipping puts creators on a schedule that could possibly compromise quality. There are people like Bendis who can crank out quality comics at insane rates but I'd rather marvel give them a looser schedule.

True but then again, I like Pulido's art on Hawkeye when Aja's not drawing. Still prefer Aja though. And Fraction's super-solid on his scripts for Hawkeye that I'm good with that. Bendis is keeping me interested in AXM and while I need to pick up my Avengers #2 later this evening, Hickman's always good at getting my interest.

For me, it helps keeping my pull-list to 5 titles and under, regardless of shipping as I focus on what I like rather than read a slew of stuff that I don't care for save for a handful.

I had to go to a different store since I'm home from college and they ended up not having Hawkeye. I was only able to pick up Captain America. The store guy isn't even think it came out today.

Sucks man. I know that my store had been increasing their orders for Hawkeye steadily (though they still need to get their Hawkeye #3 orders - they were shorted when it came out initially) as according to the owner, it's been really popular with everyone.

I'm going to try and find another store near a relative's house that I'm visiting this weekend in order to get my Hawkeye fix.

I don't mind it double shipping once but I would not like it if it regularly double shipped. I saw Talon is double shipping next month for some reason.

I get my immediate fix via Comixology to read on my phone...then I buy a floppy at my LCS. Redundant & kinda pricey, but I love being able to reread issues on the go, as well as make some of Aja's panels into wallpapers for my phone... Like this one (linked as it's from issue 6):

IDW's Judge Dredd has got Brendan McCarthy art in the backup strip!
Also, the robot wars are definitely on the horizon.

Whither the HDMI?

Also, are new issues of Marvel comics out every week now?

Holy shit what a packed day. I can't even try to mini-review today. It's nice, but my credit card bill will be hurting this month. It seems like almost weekly-shipping for Marvel now :s

Hawkeye was the highlight this week, as usual. Aja is the best artist working in superhero comics right now. WOW.

I have a pull list there for that reason, don't want to show up on my lunch break and have them be out of something. I had to go to Trader J's for Deadpool 3 because Ink got shorted. NEVER AGAIN.

I think mine requires a minimum amount of titles to have a pull list and I don't buy that many.

Started my pull there officially after getting screwed on Hawkguy 3... I have learned and am still waiting for it to come in. :/
