Facebook plans to unveil 15-second video ads in your newsfeed

I swear to god my page will be deleted the second that happens. The suggested events and suggested pages shit is already pushing me to my limit.
I dunno, but yeah, that suggested stuff is usually pretty crummy. And on top of that, this is why I don't like anything, just clogs up your feed. I feel like this is a pretty stupid tactic as they are already flattening out on their ascension. I wonder when numbers will start declining? 3 years from now?

I don't use fb more than maybe 3 times a week for a few minutes, but this would be terrible if I were an actual user.

People will actually stop using Facebook if it makes noise. People like to use in class, etc.

Moreover, the "smart" ads in Facebook are fucking stupid as hell. They're utterly irrelevant to my interests. It's insane how off they are.

I was going to say tough luck Face bookers, but then it said they're going to push this to mobile users and then I felt bad for all of you that use them. You can't do that to people on your mobile platform. I know they struggling to monetize their mobile stuff, this isn't the way to keep your users happy though.

I'm dying, here.

Being on Facebook over Google+ is frankly the lesser of two evils. Do you really want Google to own even MORE of your information? At least using Facebook primarily keeps everything you share on a social network separate.

I use the shit out of pretty much everything Google offers, so it doesn't make any difference to me. Google+ is a better service with better features; the only thing it lacks is the user base, and shit like this from FB will help change that.

So to answer your question, yes, I am comfortable with Google having more information about me to serve me more precisely targeted ads.

GAF, lets get some programmers together and start a new social media site. We can call it...MyBook. Or Friendspace. Or MyFace.

Great idea.

I have an idea for a social site. It's a really cool idea, but I can't program. Can you help me?

it will involve a online world of sorts. but you dont have to. Its like Playstation Home but without the pretentiousness or the creepy dead-stare-in-the-eye-doll-avatars.

why will people use it? Because facebook has gotten to serious. serious relationships is only on linkin now. facebook has become a sort of 9gag drop off point, but facebook has weird things about it, like having no ability to put up gifs.

we need new creative ways for users to express themselves. fuck this, of them making their perfect resume of their lives. this new place will be, not more anonymous, but less of people updating about trivial shit.

I am thinking that maybe it should just be a offspring of twitter. I like that twitter limits people to short sentences. you can only say a little bit of crap. that makes everyone have to think harder.

I think Google+ is maturing, and it's not just a 'different' facebook, it has some really unique features and it seems to borrow/integrate well with a lot of different social media. The communities feels like it borrows from reddit, for example. I also really like the modular nature of the hangouts... basically, I'm advertising for G+.

Shamalayan Twist is the ads on Facebook that send everyone to Google+, are delivered by Google

G+ is the way to go these days.

It doesn't have the same grasp on the mainstream as facebook does and probably never will. People will still use fb with or without ads, look at xbox live as an example of this and that's a paid monthly and yearly service.

Since most people are already using some kind of Google service, they have a chance of becoming a Facebook replacement if Facebook tries its hardest to scare the user base away. Google + rocks so I hope that happens.

Expect they can use all your photos anyway they see fit, well sell your info for ad dollars, and really don't give two fucks about your privacy. Google just likes to collect shit that's already out there to sell you stuff. Plus I'm already locked into everything google now anyway, and so are a lot of people so it's not changing anything using google+.

Struggling to monetize your free service as a public company with investors breathing down your neck is exactly why stuff like this happens.

I'm usually one of the last people to complain about Facebook. I usually roll with whatever, but this is just ridiculous. If they seriously do automatic audio ads I'm definitely adblocking the hell out of those things. I don't adblock anything, but I will find a way to stop that from happening.

It's so frustrating and frighting what Facebook is doing. Right now I run my business's Facebook page, and as a business tool it's unsurpassed. I love it, but I realize if they keep stepping further and further they're going to piss off end users and in turn it won't be the best business tool, because they'll flee.

Once Google Plus is less desperate for user activity they too will start the heavy monetization. Stay on your Facebooks and keep it clean for the rest of us.

The way gmail/maps/android/search itself getting monetized isn't annoying like video and audio from facebook will be.

They may be two different markets but xbox live is a paid service that withstood ad placement live on the dashboard.

It won't be for another couple of years until something new comes along but until then I can't see facebook crumpling anytime soon.

Your comparison is still terrible. Just absolutely terrible.

Welp, I rejoined recently so I could join my classes discussion group, I guess I'll be jumping out again if this is overly intrusive.

I would but my newsfeed has been 95% utter garbage for at least a year now. The only purpose facebook serves me is for organising stuff.
