They blamed video games. I'm in shock. I really hope the ESA is ready to go on every news network and say how wrong that is.
I'm not opposed to something like that. But I would prefer he remain generally out of sight unless the shit hit the fan.
They said police officers, but OP did not include that.
How will we pay for this?
What about arming students though? A gun taped under every desk.
The answer isn't "More guns everywhere".
Nor is the answer "Ban all the scary things".
The answer is more complicated than either sentiment.
Hey, you know what school had armed guards? Columbine.

We shall see. I'm betting otherwise.
Why exactly are people against security guards at schools? Do you fucking rage when you walk into your bank and see the armed security guard? Or is it just because the NRA brought up the fact that society feels that a bank is deserving of more protection than a school.
I have yet to hear anyone saying that we should ban all guns. The president is not trying to take away your gunz, but we have to ban the easy access to assault weapons and high ammo clips.
Uh, police/security are in thousands and thousands of schools across the country already. This isn't new.So the NRA's "constructive" contribution to the debate is "Herp derp it's video games to blame" and "hey I got an idea lets stick a heavily armed police officer in EVERY school in America".
I have to confess I don't even know how to respond to that kind of idiocy. The mere thought of having heavily armed police officers in children's schools is so utterly repugnant to me. If you have reached a point where you the best you can suggest is putting heavily armed police officers into school then you have completely and totally lost the plot.
I dunno maybe it's because I am British and I baulk at the idea of day to day officers carrying guns, the thought of armed police in schools actually makes me physically sick.
How many schools are in America?
What do you guys think the costs would be for schools to have armed guards everywhere?
Who would fund this? The government? I thought everyone wanted the government to cut spending lol.
Schools would fund this? Then what, parents have to pay more or teachers would get fired and then increase class room size so then kids don't learn properly.

They aren't even remotely comparable. A security guard can not protect students.
This doesn't address anything, the shooter will just kill the easily identifiable guard first and then continue on

You ever tried to blast a bunny with a rifle? Unless you got some mad quick-scope skills you're not going to hit shit. It's pretty much a given that most folks will need something that's fully automatic or has burst fire. And the extended clips are necessary so I can avoid re-loading when hunting.
We have had armed guards and police officers in schools in the US for almost 20 years now. Where is your data that a security guard does not protect students?
Somewhere north of 125,000 schools
That'll be around $7.5 billion a year for minimal full-time protection I guess.

Or we should look at how to prevent it from happening rather than worrying about looking uncivilized. Yeah, ill go with that. Then there is something wrong with your society and perhaps you should be looking into fixing it rather than pulling crap like this. In a civilised society there should be no need for you to have armed security/police patrolling your schools.
Make it a long, arduous process to obtain any weapon rather than just a simple background check. Give a person a huge fucking stack of paperwork. Mandate that the owner must also purchase a secure containment or safe for their weapon if they have children in their household. Mandatory safety/responsible ownership course. Getting a gun should not be nearly as easy as getting a fishing license.
wtfSitting in a doctors office and they've got the news on an the NRA is talking... And some dumb ass stood up with a sign saying the NRA is killing our kids really people get a fucking grip it's the dumb asses like you that end up getting guns and killing people it's not the NRA... And making laws saying there not going to allow guns!!! Yeah that's gonna work ask the millions of convicts if they listen to laws! If they are gonna kill someone and truly don't give a shit enough regardless the laws they will find a way to do it! Jesus Christ people it's really getting ridiculous! And I'm sure the president will still have all his people guarding him with the guns... To bad some dumb ass hasn't shot him yet!!

NRA's solution: No more soft targets anywhere. Let's put guns in nursing homes, schools, malls, office buildings, playgrounds, EVERYWHERE.
There's no escaping that many of these shootings occur in places where these cowards know that they aren't going to be challenged.
Most of those places already have security. Well playgrounds, no, but the rest.NRA's solution: No more soft targets anywhere. Let's put guns in nursing homes, schools, malls, office buildings, playgrounds, EVERYWHERE.
It's not like security guards roam the hallways looking for shooters. They sit in their office and watch security cameras. Having a guard on campus that can respond immediately is a lot better than waiting for the police to show up. How long did Lanza have free range before the first responders arrived?
SMH when business interest obviously are ahead of the public's safety.

You do know that figuring out the underlying reasons in the society that trigger these events can potentially prevent this stuff from happening in a long run? It's not just about "worrying about looking uncivilized".Or we should look at how to prevent it from happening rather than worrying about looking uncivilized. Yeah, ill go with that.
The point is, if someone wants to find unarmed people to massacre: They will. Most of those places already have security. Well playgrounds, no, but the rest.

That's like 90% of the world.
Welcome to (our) government.

By the time I wad quoting you stealth edited. Darn...
And "Corrupt, shadow industry"? Stop embarrassing yourselves, NRA.
