i couldn't find any thread about this, and i could find this program just on the italian version of the website:

https://www.gamestop.it/aboutus/AboutUsforloyalty

buy a new product: 1 carrot for each €
buy a used product: 2 carrots for each €
sell a used game: 2 carrots for each €

pre-order something: 20 carrots
pre-order a gamestop exclusive product: 50 carrots
100% your online profile: 150 carrots
list at least 6 games you already own in your online library: 150 carrots.

what are carrots for? easy, you need those to level up and gain the next card.
each card give you special bonuses, and among those there's the "break the street date" bonus.

you get this card for free, do not need carrots to get it

to get the level 2 card you need 1500 carrots
iVvwT.png

to get the level 3 card you need 5000 carrots or you can subscribe to gameinformer for 12 months at 16,98€
at the end of those 12 months you either have 5000 carrots or your membership level will change accordingly.

you need 12000 carrots to get the level 4 card

here's the complete list of bonuses:

translations:
Conservazione prenotazione = number of days they'll keep your pre-ordered item before selling it to someone else

Accesso anticipato alle vendite esclusive = amount of hours you can buy exclusive gamestop products before street date

Accesso anticipato alle prenotazioni L.E. = same as the last one, but this is for collector's editions

Accesso esclusivo eventi BETA = access to beta events

Accesso Eventi VIP = access to VIP events

i do understand that they can break the street date for gamestop exclusive products, but what about collector's edition?

This will fail miserably.

"Breaking street dates" will fail miserably.

and i do wonder how microsoft is going to react to this.
they will ban me for playing my CE of Halo 5 because gamestop game it to me 3 days in advance thanks to this program?

how will they know i deserved that game 3 days earlier?

They have this terrible system in Australia. Complete scam, the top tier (lv.4) is probably unobtainable by 99% of their customers.

Didn't expect Gamestop to adapt EBs Australian customer reward system.
We don't get the option to have streetdates on games broken with ours though, wonder how that will work out.

even level 3 is extremely hard to get.

you need 2500€ of products, assuming you just buy used games and resell them.

even assuming you could buy them and resell them at the exact same value that's at least 1250€ of products

Amazing how people are holding their breath because breaking something as arbitrary as a street date by a day is apparently serious business.
For Europe this won't be an issue at all because most games come out three days later than in the US. Nobody cares what happens during that time because the floodgates are already open.

you didnt read THE thread about this, did you?

I did, but not everybody is as anal about street dates as Microsoft and if I'm not mistaken that incident took place in the US. Like I said, in Europe fewer people care because we get our games a bit later anyway. If I order a game online these days either in Germany or even from Austria, getting it a day before the official release day is the norm rather than the exception.

Also, it's Gamestop we're talking about, any "breaking" that will take place will have the publisher's blessing.

They've had this up and running in Australia for just about a year now. They push it very hard and for the most part it has gotten people shopping at EB Games (GameStop) again. Not sure how successful it'll be elsewhere but I don't see it failing. I have a card but I'm a level 1 - I hardly shop at EB.

ah ok. gotcha.

This is how I see it. We really think Gamestop would do this without letting every publisher know? I tend to think not at his point. When I saw the thread title I thought "Hey cool", but seeing what an insult the entire system is changed that perception rapidly.

it's already a better RPG than xenoblade and mass effect combined...

this made me laugh and it shouldn't XD

problem is that MS is indeed anal about this stuff, how are they going to distinguish a legit street-break-copy from a standard one?
and what's going to happen if they introduce this system in the US as well?

It's pretty obvious that GameStop would have an agreement in place wirh publishers for games to "break" street date. GameStop isn't going to sell a game against the publishers wishes.

Gamifying their system like this seems like a natural evolution of their retail model.

Although the "breaking street date" claim feels like it's counterintuitive to intermediary agreements.

Now that GameStop has borrowed something from EB Games AU, maybe now the latter can do likewise and in the form of Steam Wallet cards.

Borrowing? EB Games has been owned by Gamestop for at least the past 5 years.

With the shift towards digital downloads I wonder how long it will be before Gamestops 2 Carrots per euro dollar for used games becomes worthless?

Accesso anticipato alle vendite esclusive = amount of hours you can buy exclusive gamestop products before street date

LOL. Like it's hard to get any game half a week early at smaller game stores.

I can't remember the last game that wasn't widely available at least 2-3 days early at most independent gameshops in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Maybe this makes people happy who for whatever reason actually only buy new games at Gamestop. Anyone with half a brain gets their games elsewhere a few days earlier and much cheaper. They won't attract any new customers with this. At least around here.

Amount of hours? Yeah, they'll just give you your game three hours before midnight and ring it through at midnight so they aren't actually breaking street date.

WTFITS? Basically futile, the only good things are higher discounts on games.

I expect them to give you many carrots and way more lashes.

PS:
notice how used games give you more carrots than new ones.

Not everywhere has stores that can break street dates. I live in a college town in the US where the small chains have been swallowed up by GameStop, and what few ones are left don't even get new releases on time.

Granted this is still a stupid system.

Ah now I remember. I saw that bunny some weeks ago for Germany / Austria but when I clicked it just said to sign up. Ah, here it is http://www.gamestop.de/aboutus/AboutUsforloyalty

Doesn't mention anything about breaking street dates.

Edit: No epic tier too. And it says that you can get to level 3 for 12 months if you spend 30 euros for the GI sub. So you can be level 3 with 30 euros for 1 year instead of spending somewhere about 3k euros with new and used games.

Oddly I like the idea of leveling your card. Especially if you don't fall in rank if you don't spend enough in a calendar year like Best Buy. Of course I almost certainly won't purchase anything from them given it's Gamestop.

Doesn't sound worth it.

amount of hours you can buy exclusive gamestop products before street date

If they are GS exclusive..how is there a street date. If they are just breaking any products date..

They will probably work with publishers to get the breaking street date 'thing' approved. If you guys can remember Lair, Sony sent out a message to all stores saying to release the game on the Friday before. I'm guessing something similar will take place. I just wouldn't expect any AAA titles to broken.
