I just did.

Saw the Hobbit today. It's long and boring, just like everyone said. So at least it's faithful to the book!

The Hobbit (book) is 300 page long and it's certainly not boring...

Btw I liked the movie, it's a bit bloated but it was still an enjoyable ride. Can't wait for the other 2 :)

Hobbit long and boring? The first chapter was quite boring (I remember, when I first started reading the book as a kid, I couldn't really get through the first chapter; it discouraged me to read the whole book), but the story quickly get interesting with further chapters. And as Alrus said, it's only about 300 pages long, so compared to LotR it's really short.

I still can't believe they managed to turn it into three movies (each will probably last about 3 hours like the first movie).

;_;

Looks too young though, like a kid playing dress up with that thing above his lip.

I agree, on this photo he looks like a teenage boy with a fake porn mustache (he definitely doesn't look like a 24-year-old guy). It's quite jarring. I just googled him and he looks much better without the mustache or with less defined facial hair.

He has a lovely (hairy) chest, though :3

Never read it, though I was given The Hobbit when I was a child but decided to read Stephen King's The Stand instead. What a dreadful mistake, nightmares for months.

I just saw Darth Wufei's (or at least a guy who looks almost exactly like him) photo on a tubmlr account I'm subscribed to. It has a lot of "reblogged" notes. :D
Now I can't fap to that :(

Wouldn't be the first. I have seen a few gaffers in not-pornographic tumbrl/blogs. GAF does have quite a few good looking members.

Speaking of tumblr, has anyone else come across guys they've been with randomly popping up on tumblr pages?

This has happened three times already.

oh tattoos, I get the reasoning behind them, the thing is that 90% of all tattoos are made for the wrong reasons and are hideous.

And a neck or head tattoo is a disaster no matter how beautiful or meaningful it is.

That's your opinion. I disagree with it, sometimes a neck tattoo looks great. Thing is in most of our today's society, it's not really well accepted. I wish it wasn't so.

Wait, it was an option?! :(

It was joke, guys. Well... not the movie being long and boring. That is, sadly, true. Tolkien isn't the most griping of authors though.

We can agree on that, ha. Even Robert Jordan managed to be more griping and fast-paced.
Not that I'm throwing shade on LoTR, but you gotta admit the books are pretty slow. I mean, just read A Song of Ice and Fire and you'll see that just because you write long-ass books doesn't mean they have to be slow.

I was also surprised when Brandon Sanderson took over the Wheel of Time. I really enjoy his writing, more so than Jordan's. Sanderson is one of my new favorite fantasy writers. Mistborn and his new series, The Way of Kings, are pretty much awesome.

Don't know if I am allowed to post the url, but search for GAF hot men tumblr and magic will happen.

I think I recall seeing it posted before, but yeah better to err on the side of caution.

How is it already December 23rd? Things felt so slow leading up to faux doomsday and now they're flying by. Anyone have any New Year's plans?

Wow, first page is actually quite hot, especially the first frot GiFs!

I was expecting endless queues of barely legal hairless bois.

Yeah, it's pretty consistently good. Good variety, and it has a submission form so you can use that if you are not seeing what you like. I can't remember which gaffer runs it though.

Yeah, I loved the Hobbit and LotR when I first read them but I just can't get through it multiple times because of so much wasted time. I mean, LotR has the (personally) infamous five pages of rabbit stew.

I baulked at the Wheel of Time since the first book is pretty plodding itself and I wasn't told it picks up until book 5 or 6. Which is quite a long investment for me. However, I haven't heard of this Mistborn or Way of Kings so maybe I'll check those out.

Fishing for ideas?

And yeah, I haven't been this disappointed in an apocalypse since the Millennium Bug.

I'm not sure about Wheel of Time as I haven't read it, but sometimes the commitment to long sagas can be really rewarding. When I was a kid I read the Weis-Hickman Dragonlance saga (12 books) and loved every minute of it. I found it really cool that the world and its characters were fleshed out so completely, and there were details that carried through the entire series (which pleased me as a continuity nerd). Also found it smart that it was broken up into miniature trilogies so segments of the over all series could be read on their own.

It took a few years to get through but I really enjoyed it (and regret that it hasn't/probably won't ever get a good movie adaptation).

I already have ideas! Merely curious if others have New Year's as barren and uneventful as mine.

Off to brave the crowds avd finish my Xmas shopping. Not sure what I'll get my sister though.

I've promised myself not to just get gift cards.

Also, I had hard time getting into the Game of Thrones book compared to LoTR. I should try again.

Me too. I'm picking up Sonic Racing for Vita, it'll be a blood bath just getting to the gaming isle.

I want to go to a friend's, who is most likely having a party on NYE, but there's a concert that evening too by 2 DJs that I really really really like ugugughhhhh

new year's resolution is to go to more shows

Merry Xmas guys! My family's schedule is messed so we're doing it 2 days early.

Doing it today as well! It is currently 6:40pm and we have not had dessert yet. As much a I love my nephew, I also resent his 1 yo cute face of his for making us bend around his schedule.

Oh man, one of my favourite series is the Thieves' World anthologies. Twelve books in those too but with the added bonus of not needing to remember a host of plot points over months or years. Really wish the new ones would have taken off.

I already have ideas! Merely curious if others have New Year's as barren and uneventful as mine.

Well, I'm thinking about seeing someone in Toronto for New Year's.
