Giantbomb GOTY 2012 Thread: Videos, Top 10's, and podcasts lots and lots of podcasts.

People are still just bitter that their pwecious goofball Saints Row game didn't get GOTY in the one gaming outlet that it had the chance to, and they blame Brad about it because all he did was stand his ground on his opinion, just like Jeff did.

And Brad is the wrong person to blame for that outcome. Here's a hint: It's the guy who gushed about Saints Row: The Third nonstop, and then at the last second decided to side with a game he still has yet to play and discuss.

yeah skyrim winning they way it did last year was some grade A bullshit.

I wonder what 2012's 2011 GOTY will be. I dont think Skyrim or Saints Row really had amazing DLC support so it will probably be something else. I dont think any of the crew really touched the skyrim DLC or steam workshop stuff ether.

Also I wonder what Dave's eastern block GOTY will be.

Spec Ops is a shoe in for the Northie.

Really everything other then the GOTY award is what I am interested in.

If ME 3 comes anywhere near the number 1 spot, the shit storm will be powerful after the hour long discussion during the Bombcast a couple weeks ago.

I can't find anything with my google-fu, just some speculation on the GB forums and that's it. Nothing official, unless you got his name in the credits.

I saw that stuff, too. I dunno, I trust my ear. It sounds like him and I definitely don't get him and Troy confused. They sound pretty distinct to me. It's not uncommon for voice actors to use sliases on different projects, too. Kari Wahlgren has like four.

But I digress.

You can't digress, there's a very real possibility that the Northies is an actual category. We can't award the Northy to an officially non-existent voice actor!

You have a point! It wouldn't win though, even it was officially/actually him. Daisuke has five spoken lines; the cop has two.

Like I said in the other thread, I wish the GOTY videos were about the post-apocalypse and Vinny's bug-out adventures told in flash-back years later to a teenage or adult Max, talking about how it all ended and the last video games ever made.

This is an incredible idea!

Hoping eventually we'll get a "Bakies" category.

Troy's been getting a lot of work, but it's not really uncommon. He's a good voice actor. Laura Bailey was in a ton of stuff I played this year. When you're good, that happens.

North is different. The guy saturates the market.

I love Troy, he did a great job as Yuri, but he only has like, one voice whereas North has already demonstrated massive range in voice acting.

He definitely can't compete with North, but this year Troy really grew on me. I learned he really does have decent range. Like you can usually tell it's him in whatever you're watching playing, but I like what I've heard of him as Joel in TLOU and he uses basically three different voices for Kanji in Persona 4 depending on the state of the character. It's awesome and he does some subtle stuff only acting nuts will pick up on. He's a great actor.

Wow, he is the lead in TLOU. It's nice that he's getting so much work. First Saint's Row the Third and now this.

Yep! He's the lead in BioShock Infinite, too. That sounds like his normal speaking voice (which I'm totally cool with). 2013 is gonna be his year.

This is an incredible idea!

I mean, you would think it would be the most natural thing, right? There was the whole 2012 brouhaha, Vinny's been going on non-stop about his weird disaster-preparedness and radio stuff, and Jeff has always talked about how being a part of the apocalypse would be rad to him. I guess there always is next year, but it seemed perfect for right now...

Love these podcasts though I rarely agree with them except maybe Shoemaker.

I'm still feeling the resentment over their dissing of Lara Croft & Guardian of Light's co-op in 2010. Shame!

Still look forward to listening.

Also predicting Far Cry 3 is #2. :O

I don't agree with that but it wouldn't bother me. ME3 winning GOTY would be insulting considering it's the series climax and failed at the core thing it's been hyped to do since 2006 - your decisions having a significant impact on the story

My prediction on the top 5:

1. Xcom
2. The Walking Dead
3. Fez
4. Far Cry 3
5. Borderlands 2

Hotline Miami will also probably be somewhere in the top 10.

People should be thankful. Saints Row The Third did not deserve GOTY in any way. Now how Portal 2 didn't win, that, is a mystery to me.

Giant Bomb GOTY : Your mom hates loves this.

Im going to say Journey is going to be higher then what you might think for GB. Somewhere in the top 5.

That or its the mysterious number 8 game.

OH shit I totally forgot about the Saints Row/Skyrim debate last year.

I hope this years will be as good, I love that they just record until they are done, makes it so much better I think

What makes y'all so sure that it will be a press reset parody? It's too played out and it's too specific even for giant bomb. Either way, we'll find out today!

I intend to run 100 km over the course of the next 7 days while listening to the podcasts. I did something similar last year and it was pretty awesome then, so BRING IT

Dammit, they should have released one tonight so I have something to listen to tomorrow at work.

Also, Walking Dead is taking home GOTY.

Yeah, I don't think it will win GotY. I personally enjoyed the hell out of that game, but it was just a nice ride. I'd prefer to give GotY to a more mechanically meaty game, but then again I gave 999 the GotY award (completely blew my mind) as well and that's a visual novel so I am a goddamn hypocrite.
