Giantbomb GOTY 2012 Thread: Videos, Top 10's, and podcasts lots and lots of podcasts.

They're spoiling all the games in the podcast, there's another Giantbomb official thread here if you don't want that.
Unless you're a games journalist or unemployed, it's basically impossible to play every good game of the year without creating a backlog. A lot of people use the Christmas holiday to catch up on that backlog, so adding a quick tag which takes about 2 seconds isn't exactly much to ask for.

Agreed. Can we declare this thread a spoiler free one?

Any timestamps for walking dead spoilers in the first podcast yet?

id just avoid the whole best moment section. Spoils Binary domain, spec ops, TWD, and a few other games.

40:42-54:00 is TWD. But they mention a name before hand. I don't know the time stamp. It's somewhere in the beginning.

Why is that when it is so easy to spoiler tag something on this site?

Also the last episode of The Walking Dead has only been out for a month, and the retail release has only been out I think 3 weeks? We are still WAY within the statue of limitations on that one, especially since the story is 99% of why you're going to care about that game.

People are asking for timestamp on game spoilers on the podcast for a reason people.

If it involves more frog fractions, i'm gonna scream.

Whats with all the Frog Fractions hate.
You just mad your faves cant compete against the FLASH GAME QUEEN

Holy fucking shit, the recap video was -amazing-. In retrospect the idea was so obvious, but I was seriously thinking it'd be a press reset parody from what was going on in the GB|OT|. And Fraction Frogs was an emotional rollercoaster, fuck me. I heard Thumbs talking about it but like most of their games I never tried it for myself. I was told before starting the podcast that Fraction Frogs was required playing, and god damn.

At least we know can guess one of the episodes has to be Storage Wars or whatever for Jeff's dumbass fuckin' video game collection.

I don't get why people are expecting multiple parodies. did they say they were gonna do this?

The Office parody isn't random. It seems fairly obvious that it was based on their move to CBSi and the more strict office culture found in the larger company.

I would think they would mine that specific idea for 5 days and not just toss it off for another random show parody.

How much weirder can office parody be?

In the Office one, Jeff said "parodies" so I assumed each day would be a different show. And the tweet about it getting crazier.

I kind of assumed when the Office episode revolved around Ryan rejecting Jeff's musical idea out of spite to do multiple tv parodies that it was a meta reference to the week

If they want to keep the NBC parodies going, I hope they bring in guest star Will Smith for the Fresh Prince of San Fran.

Drew as Dexter.

Breaking Brad.

Everybody Loves Vinny.

Wouldn't be surprised if their outdoor trip was to the desert. If they do do other styles of shows I'm curious to see how they filmed them. They got the handheld, zoom documentary style down. Maybe they will just stick with shows that have that style, like every reality show.

They inadvertently timed out their Frog Fraction discussion perfectly. I got up and started playing it after the first mention and they didn't start spoiling it until I hit everything to be spoiled. I got lucky with the
text adventure
part. I feel like I could have been stuck there for a while.

So I just made it through most of Walking Dead Episode 1 since it's free on XBL right now, really wish I hadn't listened to the Walking Dead spoilers on today's episode now lol. Not that upset, but anyone who thinks that you may ever in the rest of your life have the slightest inkling that you may possibly ever play the game will want to avoid that section completely.

I hope they parody a different show each day. CSI being the obvious choice.

I hate The Office so The Workplace did nothing for me.

I also hope Vinny gets some screen time. Being the camera guy who knows...

I'm only in the middle (I think) of the second episode of Walking Dead, and already I don't want to go back.

Not because it's a bad game, but because I don't feel like dealing with all these shitty situations. Only the second episode and I already feel like every single thing I do is messed up. I just keep thinking "this is gonna go bad. Aw, man. This is gonna go REAL BAD. I shouldn't be doing this."

I do think it's weird that, in a game that is so much about giving you tough choices and letting you deal with (to an extent) the fallout from them, they sometimes force you into doing something that is dumb in order to move the plot along.

I guess it's just one of those things where they give you enough "freedom" that when they send the plot down a funnel in certain places it feels weird.
