Giantbomb GOTY 2012 Thread: Videos, Top 10's, and podcasts lots and lots of podcasts.

Thanks. I know my XCOM, so s'all good. :]

Mainly trying to avoid TWD stuff, Spec Ops and, to a lesser extent, Dishonored for the most part.
 
Drew's top 10 needs to hurry up downloading. Can't wait to see that.

Is it wrong I'm enjoying this XCOM match more than any of the five hours I've put into it myself? Their commentary is so good...
 
Did they not even mention Dishonered was considered for best debut?
 
LOL @ the day 2 skit and damn i need to get XCOM one of these days.


Also it was fun hearing all of the crew getting in the game and giving their tips/advice knowing what could happen.
 
I never really kept up with XCOM much at all, but their enthusiasm for it in the back half of the Day 02 recap makes me very certain it will be their GOTY now. I should have listened to all the posts saying that long beforehand.

Great list from Drew, and his pick for number 1 made me laugh with his delivery. He's right about how Journey smells, too.

Ryan's list was really solid too. Granted, there's overlap here (and there's going to be more), but I always enjoy how well Ryan can articulate what it is he likes about something he plays.

What about it are you not liking, exactly? I don't want to be critical or anything, I'm just asking because I feel very much the opposite. The sudden leap in lighting/camera equipment coupled with the performances has been really enjoyable for me, personally.
 
Jeff at times confuses me. So negative.

So much seems to either not interest him, shit, or boring. So jaded for a Game of the Year discussion.

It's just not very creative. They might have well done a Call Me Maybe or Gangnam Style parody. At least the cheap effects last year were charming, these are just played out.

A musical GOTY would have been better.

Sure, random tv shows aren't exactly original. Heck, I've done it before myself with my friends. However, I think their execution has been very enjoyable, and the effort they put into the framing of their GOTY stuff is still miles ahead of anyone else.

Besides, the musical is still coming. It's just we have to wait for 2013.
 
If XCom wins overall GOTY, I'll be very happy. It wasn't my number 1 (probably 4 or 5) but it was a very different game than I typically play and I was still captivated from beginning until the end. I only played Normal Ironman but I will return someday to play a Classic Ironman run.
