Definition of REAL PIC JANUARY

: the first month of the Gregorian calendar in which users of the forum "NeoGAF" display their actual face as their avatar.

Origin of REAL PIC JANUARY

This thread was the start of it. At first everyone only spoke of using their pictures and what picture they should use, but then it grew beyond that. We began chatting with each other, and the thread grew so fast that two weeks later we needed a second thread. These times were dominated by Sentry's obsession with collecting all of our pictures, as you can see in the OP of our first community thread. It was there that we had Fake Pic Feb and RPG-RPG March. When the time came for our second community thread someone jumped the gun a little, but then we got our proper thread.

There was also this anomaly.

What should I do for a picture?

Use any picture you like! Don't be shy, this is a community that is welcoming to all. Don't have a great picture to use? Then ask our members for some tips about taking self-portraits. Some tips from CrudeDiatribe:

• Good light.
• Have someone take the picture of you. Have the light hit part of your face, not full on from the front, not fully from the side.
• Take a picture outside just after sunrise or before sunset.

Lighting tips.

While I'm not going to say love can't bloom on a message board, think carefully before you decide to contact someone. Your advances might be unwelcome! If you have never really talked to someone and are only messaging them because you think they're hot, definitely do not contact them. It will not end well. We have had some problems with people doing this in the past, and we'd like to nip this in the bud before it starts. If someone has contacted you and won't let up, please please inform a mod about it! We can't let this kind of thing go unchecked.
