I'll just mention. My mum didn't literally force me to have it done (she's not that bad) she just went on and on about how good it would look, and if I didn't like it I could take it out after a few days. So I did it just to shut her up, and get a McDonalds out of it... and took it out after a few days. lol

How can you remember this from when you were 5? Unless you're like 7 now so it wasn't too long ago lol. I don't think I remember anything from 5, at least in that much detail!

My sister's 22 and remembers stuff from when she was 5 in ridiculous detail.

Fair enough then! I wish I could, it would be cool.

So what avatars have you all changed from? We might recognise each-other a bit more with our old avatars out in the open!

I used to be represented by this lil guy as I thought it was quite an accurate caricature.

It's quite disconcerting.

A few years ago I could remember stuff from when I was 4 or 5 years old a lot better than I can today. I think that stuff is fading with time. Now I have to struggle to remember things from when I was 7, haha.

I can remember stuff all the way back from when I was 3.

Sometimes, random memories from way back just pop up when I'm doing something (or nothing :p).

I had a friend in high school who claimed she could remember something from when she was in the womb.

Apparently her mom went up to the attic to kill some bats (while pregnant, I know, wtf) and tripped on her way down, fell down a few stairs. My friend always claimed she could remember the fall and how it felt like the world was turning upside down all around her. I'm not sure I believe it.

When I was a kid I claimed something similair. I said to my mom that in her belly everything was colored the same as when you hold your hand up to a light (that orangy color of light through skin) Obviously I cannot remember that at all now, but back then I swore it was the truth. Could well be lights I saw at my birth or something.

Right now my memories go back to about 3, when my brother was born. I still have some vivid memories of that time. Just very small fragments though.

I remember being in a motorcycle accident at 5 very vividly. I still remember the place where my aunt and I ate lunch before the accident and the Thundercats stickers I received from their version of a happy meal. I think I'm scarred for life lol.

I can't remember that for the life of me. I can remember a number of weird dreams and nightmares I had when I was five or six, though.

Actually, what I remember from my first day of school is a bit vague, but I remember the kid next to me crying and me just looking at him wondering why he was so upset when his mother would be back at the end of the day. lol

I don't remember everything, obviously, but there are random things I remember from when I was really young.

I remember waking up in the hospital after I had a hernia operation and my mouth being really dry and needing a drink. I walked up to the nurse for a glass of water. I think she said I wasn't meant to have anything to drink, but she ended up giving me one anyway. lol

I remember two distinct dreams from my childhood. One was a giant native american head in traditional garb in the corner of my room talking to me. I don't remember words so the internal image of it is of it miming something. Had a comical ghostly look to it, like something out of 'Christmas Carol'. The other is of me in in the bottom of some well or dungeon and the silhouette of someone looking down at me from a bright door way from higher up (no stairs just the door and a drop to where I am). Its hilarious I remember these dreams with more vivid detail than special moments I had with family.

Thinking about it, I remember learning to read and write. I remember the teacher with a board with the alphabet on it, saying it in the way the letters sound.

ah bu cu du eh fu

Like that. :D

I also remember my little tin I had with words in it to learn.

You remember that, but you forgot E?

I can't remember most of what I did last week.... Although memory is incredibly inaccurate anyways. Who needs it?

That is also true. I remember watching a TV series in which a group of people were tested on their memory. It was based on the psychology the police use in order to conduct better interviews. Memory is incredibly unreliable and easily contaminated. The police in the UK are actually the best in the world in this field. They actually taught American police forces how best interview witnesses.

One example they gave about how easily memory is contaminated was a case in America where a woman was raped. I think this was in the 90s. She was given a bunch of pictures to look through, but she wasn't sure about any of them. She ended up picking one and the police officer simply said, "we thought it was him!". It was their suspect. This instantly confirmed in her own mind that this was the rapist when before she wasn't sure. Of course she then went on to pick him out in a line up. However, they eventually had another suspect, someone more likely to be the real rapist and in fact was the real rapist. So they brought her back in to check it with her. She failed to recognise him. By simply saying to her that the person she originally picked was their suspect it had contaminated her memory so much that she failed to spot the real rapist in a line up.

I only tend to remember reoccurring dreams. As a kid it was falling out of our second story window. Dreamt that a lot. Last decade or so I have been having dreams of tsunamis. Huge skyscraper type tsunamis though. Not sure why I dream about them so much.

This almost reminds me of the Derren Brown experiment where he tries to make the guy confess to a murder he didn't commit. It talks a bit about interview techniques and the power of guilt/not trusting one's memory.

Edit: Leadbelly's post, not the dream discussion.

I'm 29, I can remember a lot of things from when I was 5 years old in great detail. Some things from when I was 3 and 4 too, but not as many. My long term memory is very good (unfortunately I can't say the same for my short term memory.)

This was the show,

It's absolutely brilliant. Well worth watching.

Yeah. I do love watching Derren Brown's stuff. I think 'Mind Control' and 'Trick of the Mind' are some of his best work. His other shows were good, but I didn't think they were as good as those shows.

The only thing I remember about my first day of school is making friends on the playground before going into the classroom xD

oooh its that time again! Let me search through my recent pics, if there are any.

Can I request someone to avatar a photo of myself in here, ya know, make it avatar size! I'm useless at that kind of stuff.
