I missed the Nintendo talk!

I can't say I'm "loyal" since I also buy Sony systems and game on PC, but Nintendo handhelds tend to be my favorite platforms. Plus Nintendo owns some of my absolute favorite series like Kirby, Mario, Fire Emblem and Pokémon. On the other hand I buy Sony systems because of the 3rd party stuff, I really don't care about at all about their 1st party games.

So GayGAF, what games are you all hooked on right now?

I have several games that I still have to finish:
* Shank 2 - last time my laptop died when I was fighting last boss; I really don't want to go through the whole last level again; I think the game is less fun than the first one;
* Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light
* Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines - started it two months ago and reached Downtown; stopped playing due to work;
* Lone Survivor - died at the last boss after not saving for about an hour :(

And after that, there's "Resonance" waiting for me. I'm all for an old-school P&C adventure game.

This.
I've always bought both Nintendo and Sony systems. Lately, because of my life, I could just play to handheld systems. Now, third parties developing things I'm interested in (Japanese games mainly) are on 3DS, hence I don't feel like buying a Vita, though PSP was amazing.

Same, PSP awesomeness isn't really translating into Vita awesomeness library-wise so far. I'm sure I'll buy one eventually (and it's going to be blue) but not right now.

BTW, I'm 25 years old today, go me! :D

It was also the fighting game handheld, the only genre DS sorely lacked. Now? My favorite fighters are already on 3DS and not on Vita. It feels weird as heck.

Congrats!

I do want a Vita, just to play Persona 4 (which I already bought for Vita lol). But it's just to expensive for one game right now.

But first I want to import a US 3DS since I'm afraid Europe won't be getting SMT: Soul Hackers anytime soon.

What are your thoughts on Lament of Innocence? Castlevania purists and critics didn't really like it. Even though I had to learn that it kind of is like a dungeoncrawler with items that let you explore more of the game ala Metroid to fully enjoy it, it has one of the best Catlvania soundtracks ever imo.

I find it a little talky talky at the start, and the controls leave a bit to be desired. I don't mind the overall design and combat, though. But my recommendations are really weird. I'll play and enjoy lots of stuff others won't. The music is fun, yes!

Happy Birthday Rm88~!! Order of Ecclesia is like my favorite Castlevania, EVER. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Thanks, guys!

7threst - If I lived in Europe I'd definitely buy a US 3DS. Man, region lock blows :/

Padawan of Windu - I'm not sure why I hadn't bought it, glad I was able to correct such mistake! And I got it new for ~$27 USD which is pretty okay, I think.

I basically own all 3DS fighting games, but I realized I cannot play them on handheld actually, at least not as much as I can do on home consoles. And that hurts, because currently I don't have any home console in my place!

By the way, I'm gonna be a 25 year old person in two days :P

In my case, my SSFIV3D play-time is about to top my play-time on the home version, or it already happened. Since I prefer controllers for fighters anyway it doesn't make a huge difference, and despite all the hate it gets I got used to the (classic) 3DS d-pad and my handheld Makoto is pretty decent, I think :P And thumbs up for fellow early-January-born-GAF!

¡Feliz cumpleaños, Rm88~!

Shanoa is awesome!
Her sprite is beautiful, animated so well.

Order of Ecclesia is such a great game with an amazing soundtrack. It has 2 of my favorite boss battle tracks ever:

Getting the bosses medals... it felt so old school: it's all about patter recognition :D
I will replay the 3 Castlevanias DS games soon. I need my 2D/sprites fix <3 (I bought Dawn of Sorrow before even owning a DS).

Anyway, I have been playing Baten Kaitos Origins on GameCube and Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure on 3DS.
After I am done with BKO, I will probably continue with Xenoblade and New. Super Mario Bros. U and finish Saints Row The Third.

So On Christmas I got a Unopened N64 (Pikachu edition) from my Boyfriend along with a couple games. Thought hat the Nintendo fans should know :)

omg that is amazing! how much did that cost him??

my boyfriend gave me a nice leather duffelbag because i was always hauling my stuff between our houses in some shitty bag meant for carrying stuff out of a store lol. i gave him a nest thermostat (oh how romantic) because he was always bitching about his. unfortunately, upon trying to install it, i realized his system was incompatible. i'll have to get him something else now.

Awe, I don't know but I bet it was expensive and I don't ever want to know how much he spent.

Right now I'm getting into Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The setting is great (I wish more games would use that kind of setting), the music is pretty nice and I like the story so far. I fucking hate the bosses though, they're just not fun.

Sounds a bit like our Christmases. Santa brought me Super Mario World complete, and my bf got me Secret of Mana, Donkey Kong Land II and III, and other sweet stuff. = ) Birthdays and X-Mas are always exciting for me as I usually get a big SNES game from him. The last two I got Mega Man X2 and 3, mmmmf. Though I keep asking for a replica cart and box of Mother 3....someday, someday!

Oh, Oh - I love Nathan Graves too! My first GBA game (well, my bf's, which I would use all the time)

Oh, I got my boyfriend a radar detector. I have a gift coming in soon for him, which is a GPS. Our 1 year of knowing each other is on the 12th of this month and our 1 year of dating in on Feb 12th. So we will be exchanging stuff this month and next month.

I love these gif fights XD

can you guys make a dripping Xtina gif fit in there somewhere in the discussion?

cristina gifs means fun times ahead.

My boyfriend likes games but like older ones like N64 and some games on 360, Though I had to teach him the buttons and what the game is about etc...

If he has a genuine interest in that, it's ok. If, instead, he has to force himself to play because you like video games, then I don't like it. My ex were like that!

He really enjoys it, He loves racing games and trials on 360. N64 he really likes Mario64, Donkey kong64 and Zelda: Ocarina of time. He never forces to play. He always asks if we can bring the N64 to play. :P

I tought my boyfriend to like em. He is now a genius pretty much. He doesn 't know the English language but managed to almost finish SMT: Strange Journey. He did fnish some Mario games. He's pretty goed. And he's 62 years old. Pretty impressive for someone who dodn't even know what videogames was 10 years ago.

But sometimes he just doesn't get games. When I played Bayonetta he was watching and said: "Allright, let me get this... this woman is able to buy all the freaking weaponry you can imagine, made by a guy going through hell to make them, but a pair of contactlenses isn't possible???" and that kind of stuff :)
