Kinda glad it's still early in the morning. 15-year-olds and West Coast games journalists haven't woken up yet to try and out-snark each other about Pokemon games being dumb and never changing and every game after Red/Blue was bad so I never played them and does anybody still care about Pokemon???

I want everyone to talk less and everything to take less time. Buttoning through overlong conversations and endless tutorials got super irritating in Gen V.

Using a Pokemon center should not take as long as it does!

It's a relief to see others saying this. That battles take too long, waiting on Pokemon to get healed does too. I thought I was just becoming impatient. And maybe I am. But really. A bunch of text to scroll through every time just to heal my Pokemon is insane. Also run battles without the extra fluff. I got tired of fights lasting forever because of animation.

You were required to use Cut in the Dream Yard but that's it. BW2 has Surfing and Strength use.

iirc the only mandatory surf/strength is in a small section Victory Road. Otherwise it's just for items and post game.

The legendaries need more love: The red bird has a cool pattern resembling a nervous system/circulatory system, and the stag looks like Virizion crossed with Cobalion crossed with the Great Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke crossed with swords and rainbows. I'm really interested to see what the inevitable Z-themed Rayquaza/Giratina/Kyurem equivalent looks like.

I don't know what Chespin is, but I likes it! Froakie's my favorite, and Chespin is tied with Fennekin in my eyes. They're all awesome. What's really refreshing about Chespin, though, is he's a mammalian Grass-type starter. Reptiles and amphibians were tapped out, imo.

Good point about it being mammal, that's actually a huge plus for me as we'll. I can't wait to see its evolutions, though I bet that thing on its head will turn into a huge crown (kind of like Slowking).

Good to see this franchise seemingly going somewhere, but why does it look like an upressed DS game? The visuals remind me of the DS Zelda games, only a bit more detailed.

Baby steps, man. I wasn't expecting much of the graphics, considering they've been working on this since 2010.

Only thing I dont like about the trailer is that the world doesnt have Pokemon running around. I still would want random battles, but I do want to see Pidgeys flying around and Bidoof running through the paths in front of me.

I think the graphics look great. The "less flattering" aspects of the overworld simply remind me of the scaled-back look many JRPG overworlds have -- perfectly serviceable, and frankly still more immersive and interesting than the series to date.

But what really steals the show are the battles. Those look perfect, imo. Seeing old Pokemon in that style was really reassuring; it shows that all the charm and nuance of the sprites carries over into cel-shaded polygonal 3D. Golurk, Mienfoo, Ralts, Psyduck -- they all look great. And seeing the starters in action was a real treat.

I'm at the office now, though, and I can't recall -- did they show Chespin in action in the trailer?

im imagining that the animations are attack-based and are only unique in a "idle animation for each Pokemon" kinda way? sorta how Blak and White worked with its small use of animation

then again the trailer suggest otherwise, but if im mistaken that'd be a really cool surprise. Can they even cram that in there?

Battle scenes are good - overworld has never been good in Pokemon games.

While yes, it does look a bit like something the DS could produce, the game looks a ton better than I expected. Look how little GameFreak has progressed in design since Gen I. This is, by far, their largest graphical leap.

Ahh hype overload! I love the design of (King Thranduil's) Elk legendary Pokemon at the end! I picked up White 2 again last night because of the building excitement - gotta get through the last half, though I have til October now. I hope we get a special 3DS XL for this!

I think people are forgetting just how MASSIVE these games are. This game could never be run on a DS cart properly.

I wouldn't be surprised if GameFreak uses all of the 1GB(?) of space available.
