Rumored Chinese Forum Xbox720 specs: 8CoreCPU,8GB,HD8800GPU,W8,640GBHDD

Courtesy of Cyberpunk 2077 thread, I wonder whether we'd be getting very close to this (Consider the following containing a vid running this in real time on UE3.X. It's a WIP for some ME challenge) at even 720p:

Aren't we already at this with Star Wars 1313?

I don't think you understand how things work. TF are not the only metric we judge graphic cards by btw. However, if you are going to focus on that number- prepare to be disappointed. You are forgetting other things people have posted earlier:

A) Custom silicon
B) Three different hardware addition to assist with graphic work (ES RAM being one)
C) 8 GB of RAM

I can't wait to watch the meltdowns as the months roll by.

Like.

Well I guess if it can deliver Agnis level of visuals then.....shit it can deliver Agnis levels of visuals.

That's the way to think of it I was describing before. When the consoles come out their stuff may not match particular PC stuff but its in a closed environment.
GAME ON.

I need some Forza leaks. Like this one.

I still remember Forza fans using that shit as proof Forza 4 will look batter than GT5, it's smart really, from Turn 10

D*ck!
I thought that was real:) Had to read the image url.
You know that if PGR and this are coming and the next GT the racing fans are going to shit bricks...bricks that look like steering wheels.

Many forget the lighting is baked in the demo...

Correct. And with optimizations and such. Doable on the next machines.
My personal hope is that more people aim for 720p 60FPS or utilize a good dynamic reolution system because things like that...IN GAME will be insane.

Probably towards the last year or two of next gen's cycle.

With decreased AA and lower framerate than PC.

Don't be like that brother yang. Good things are coming.

You sound like Lob4girls.

Google only gave me one response. Now, I don't know what it all means, but I see Putanga on the top and what seems to be Putanga in two other languages. It's either about a village in Uganda, or you sir....are calling me a ho?

why does the OS need 1 or 2 gigs? people above are saying that the 360s os only uses 32mb and it runs fine. yes it could be faster but isnt 1 or 2 dedicated os gigs a little too much? i know ms wants is planning to make a dvr/media center but still 1 or 2 gigs is still a but too much.

More memory would allow for a good amount of reservation space for future enhancements to systems and so forth. Plan ahead kind of thing especially with all the multi use things they seem to have planned.

I want to berieve.
I don't think I have ever been unimpressed, even back to the Master System days, with a generation jump. I mean really unimpressed. Berieve but keep it in control.

I don't get it either. I want the OS to be as light as possible. No reason for it to be much more than many mobile OSes these days.

I also hope for an ultra-low power mode when using the OS / Apps / DVD etc.

No idea, I would imagine it would be closer to a mobile OS whatever ram space that takes than a desktop one.

* PGR3 leaked thanks to OurColony xD

I participated in OurColony, I really hope they have something like it this year. That was a very unique experience.

Why be stingy when you've got 8GB? A large memory allocation will allow the Guide button to instantly suspend your game and go to the dash. There'd be no need for quitting out of games to go to the marketplace, everything would be much more fluent. Depending on how much RAM the actual OS needs it might also allow multitasking, for example, having your web browser opened watching a walkthrough then instantly switching back to your game with the Guide button.

More ram reserved for OS != better

Wii U reserve 1GB and it has a slow OS.

Yes, I remember it was funny, all the green rabbit and trees and cropped images... I want something like this again...

The OS is going to be at least 1 GB, no doubt about it. Maybe even 2.

Direct feed video capture, cross-game VIDEO CHAT, pulling up a web browser and playing a 720P video/trailer while in a game...I expect a lot of these features to be in the next Xbox (and probably the next PS4).

At least in Microsoft's case, I expect they are gunning to do for TVs what tablets did for PCs with their next console.

You musn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.

Exactly, they might expand party-chat, add in apps, have a info tinker always going, and that number could even reflect Kinect 2.0...

I don't think that has much to do with memory allocation. I'm not really talking about reserving memory for the OS either. I'm talking about keeping the entire OS in memory at all times. Even when the console is "off" (Hello instant-on!) If Microsoft can do what they did with 64MB a couple of GB should make it a breeze.

Even Windows 8 is less than 1GB, maybe less than 512MB.

Lol same here, I was joshing you fellas.

Honestly if I can see Watch Dogs or SW 1313 visuals on launch or launch "window", I'll be more than satisfied.

I know I got slammed for this but I really do think that SW 1313(what we saw and just building from it) for sure. Watch Dogs(what we saw) still very doable.

And ya I never have. Its strange. Even when a system launched to somewhat unspectacular results(Saturn) I was still blown the fuck away.

Any thoughts on whether these specs should allow backwards compatibility with 360 games?

Software emulation with 360 games, that's a tough one.

Supposing the specs are really good as rumored, I suppose software emulation is possible on the system.

But I just don't see Microsoft incorporating that kind of thing into the 720. Microsoft hasn't cared about original Xbox emulation since 2007...more than 5 years ago.

Sega Saturn was good. Still I was kinda bummed that in order to experience higher end SEGA hardware, I had to go to the arcades.

One of the peeps at Beyond 3d who knows his stuff seems to indicate it is. He indicates it, or seems to, in a round a bout way. The person I talked to said it was going to have it and he is about 2 steps removed from that part of the project. That's about as far as anyone knows or is willing to talk about right now.

I agree. But strangely some of my favorite game moments were Saturn ones. Despite it really being a 1.5 gen style system.

Thats why I don't worry too much about these. Consoles and closed systems constantly amaze me.

Star Wars is doable in current gen, easily; next-gen would be a walk in the park. I hope they up the ante and make it play as smooth as what they've revealed so far. Graphics are the least of my concerns at this point, to be honest.

Next-gen is all about 60fps to me. 1080p should be a standard but I'm afraid that 720p will still exist. I don't mind 720p if AA is increased and we get 60fps.

In what universe on consoles? Have you seen the fire effects in Uncharted 3 for comparison?

Yeah, Windows 8 can get as low as ~280 MB when idle, and that's with a bunch of services running that you wouldn't need on a console. There is no way a console OS should need 1-2 GB.

All I'm saying is I'd rather they allocate too much and later be able to reallocate it to devs than for them to allocate too little and have to really squeeze every last KB out of it like they have with the current dash.
