EVO 2K13 Player's Choice: Donate money to breast cancer and get your favorite game in

For the uninformed, what's BrazzersGate?
A tournament organizer and well known personality in the fighting game community, LI Joe was in talks with Brazzers, and a rep from Brazzers about potentially sponsoring players including LI Joe and throwing Brazzers tournaments. Community got heated about stuff like how if a porn company sponsors them, bigger, real sponsors would shy away and the FGC would not reach complete eSports saturation that way.

In the end it turned out the Brazzers guy was just talking shit and got his month of free promo and stopped communicating. LI Joe and the community got used.

They should add league of legends. Maybe then it will actually get promoted on the front page of twitch this time.
Ice cold.

I never started checking the front page of Twitch until way past EVO, but I see WNF and I think Big Two in there time to time. Jared doesn't hate us that much!

Aside from the insignificant portion of time in which our promotions tool broke and affected far more than just your event, EVO 2012 was on the front page of Twitch practically every nanosecond it was online. Don't twist history here.

If you did check our front page from time to time you would, again, see WNF and Big Two, practically every nanosecond they are online, every single week without fail.

You aren't victims. No one is holding you back. Your success does not begin and end at you being on the front page of Twitch.

I get emails from twitch when my streams that I have subscribed too (I think) go live with major events most of the time. Seems fine. I never have been to the twitch home page come to think of it.

Who the fuck watches the front page of twitch anyway to see when their favorite stream is going live?

"OH, OH, I SEE BIG TWO RIGHT THERE! YAY!"

The only people that should have any issues whatsoever with Twitch are the streamers themselves.

LoL is such a shitty competitive game it's not even funny.

Watching one game for 20 seconds doesn't count, Q. :3

I always click between "all games" and "all channels". Never know when some random, cool stream is gonna pop up.

Never look at the frontpage on twitch. ever.

SF 25 finals wasnt iirc this was when Fish stix went on a diatribe about how the FGC doesnt market its events correctly.

It was on the front page for, I'd argue, 90% of its run time, and was rotated off occasionally due to competing event placement as it was a busy weekend. What you recall was one of those moments where someone noticed this and people decided to go crazy.

And Ben is right. The fighting game scene doesn't know how to market their own events correctly. Neither do a lot of LoL, DoTA, StarCraft, Smash.. essentially, a lot of competitive gaming tournaments and leagues. Even MLG, IPL and their ilk are guilty of this. If I can't go to the major hub of a scene or tournament and not immediately find the who, what, where and when of an event, that's a huge problem. It's part of my job to know all these details and when I can't manage to pull this off, I can't imagine what it's like for your average fan.

Both EVO2012 and SF25th were on the Twitch front page during nearly the entire duration of the events, minus brief snafoos here and there. Every single FGC major that reaches out to us and sends the proper assets for promotion (thumbnail, description, and schedule) will get featured on the Twitch front page. We have never had any kind of bias against the FGC - in fact, we've directly sponsored over a dozen FGC events and promote Big 2, WNF, and Fraud Free Fridays every single week.

that is all

ps: evo HYPE! I was about to commit sudoku when MK9 was announced before KOF13, thank god its in there :P

Just remember...Art is always watching....and waiting.

I actually voted for Catherine on the Facebook poll. Would've loved to see that at Evo. Competitive Catherine is hype, and I wish more people were into it. Most people think I'm joking when I say that Catherine has a multiplayer mode. :(

I'm glad you can't see the donation totals. If it's something like MLP has $30,000, Smash has $1500 and everything else has like $500 or less, none of the little guys would donate.

If a game i like is seccond Ill be more inclined to donate to that than a last place game i may also like

Indeed if I was part of a game that had a smaller community, I would not donate; it's kind of a lost cause against those bigger games.

But if you would like to donate to a charity, then this is a great chance for a 2 in 1 deal.

EVO 2K6 had guaranteed cash prizes for every game, I believe. I tried searching and can't remember, but I believe it was the year EVO was sponsored by some car company. Even with that, people still didn't show up or enter DoA4. I don't see why DoA5 would be any different. It would probably have more entrants than DoA4 by virtue of there being more people showing up to EVO now than years past, but that doesn't mean much for a game that had less than 100 entrants.

I'm salty at no SC5, but I get it. Still, I'm entering 4 games. That's going to be rough. :( lol.

Hoping for no 8am pools.

yeah, DOA community doesn't really do offline tournaments. i know this, i was top 3 @ NEC DOAU/DOA3 back in the day! 8 man tourneys!

CVS2 is in the lead for people asking me to donate for them. A whopping zero amount of people wanted MLP.

Said in the main FG thread.

Anybody who wants Super turbo, Darkstalkers, CVS2 or Third Strike in EVO, PM me. I'm going to donate on your behalf. You know how I roll. For every person, I will put $10 in whatever game.

Of course, mention what game you want. Donation drive ends in 22 days so let's make the cutoff at 15 days from now.

It sure looks like you would donate for MLP.

EDIT: Here's a video of a fairly old build (from last EVO) to show combos in MLP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiwZvPKhsDo

Makes perfect sense. Then you remember why this is a good thing is at the expense of supporting fighting game scenes. They are pretty much trying to get as much money donated as possible while not providing a "service" most donators would hope for (you know because they are not donating out of the goodness of their heart, instead being enticed by this ploy). Someone I've read on twitter said something along the lines of if you really want your game at EVO, actively ignore this good cause and use that money to set up a side-tournament with a good stream. Those are two harsh opposites.

Whether you prefer ponies, ladies or manly men.

Uh... there are no manly men in Skullgirls.

i really don't see anything positive that might come from EVO having MLP (assuming it wins).

Outside of the money, it's a demonstration (assuming that Hasbro figures it isn't worth the negative pr to block it) that Evo, being a community effort, also really supports community efforts as opposed to being Capcom and Sony's mouthpiece as everyone has been complaining. Fairly consistent with supporting divekick and skullgirls.
