Seeing merchandise like T-shirts with the GIANT BLACK OUTLINE is annoying as hell. What is with that outline?!?
I just remembered there was a whole year where the shield had black instead of yellow. IIRC it was for Our Worlds at War.
According to the designer, Man of Steel's shield is modeled after the Golden Age and George Reeve's shield. Kal-L's shield can look nice, but it's probably the hardest one to draw right.

To be fair, Ma Kent sewed that one up.
Man of Steel might be my favorite of the bunch. It's hard to look at the shields and remove them from the man who wore them (animated or live action), but that MoS shield really hits all the right notes for me.

True, and I was wrong - the Merchandising S also shows up in the pilot to Lois & Clark. His suit in that episode is actually WORSE than the rest of the run's.

Hmm just looking at upcoming media events and the week beginning February 3rd could be interesting for some big MoS stuff given the Superbowl is on the 3rd (Superbowl TV spot?) and then on the 10th the New York Toy Fair kicks off which I'd imagine would have a big MoS presence given the likes of DC Collectibles, Square Enix, Mattel and Sideshow Toys/Hot Toys will be there and all have the Man of Steel license....good first look at Zod via a figure or statue?

What's funny is that not one of those \S/ symbols is the one that DC uses in all of it's marketing for Superman as a general property (Superman birthday plates, Superman...uh, Golf cozies, etc):
(Minus the lens flare, that is).

yeah that was after world at war but also after 9/11.
i'm not a bullet but also since it's a rookie Superman they still think that they can (more or less)

Looks far better in the movie stills and the trailer than it does in that drawing of the the shields. In shits all over Superman Returns S shield yet the returns shield S looks better in the drawing. Artist fail.
Cavill looks bad ass in that EW shot. Dude's jaw line and neck make Routh seem so skinny when Routh isn't a small guy. He was just lacking in key areas that would have made him look like a grown ass Superman.

I'm so down with ALL of the casting in this movie aside from Amy Adams. Don't really like her as an actress.

Also got my issue of EW and the preview for MOS mentions the film begins on Krypton.

My spoiler free impressions are that it's probably bullshit. There's a lot missing that, at the time this thing was posted, shouldn't have been missing. Plus the fact it's pretty much ONLY this site, and the fact it's still up.

that's disappointing. I have faith in the movie, but I was hoping for some confirmation that it wasn't a complete mess.
There was a poster earlier who has read the full script. Said it was good.

Pretty sure that poster was referring to the link just posted. So far as I can tell - almost nobody's read the script to this thing - aside from the people involved in the production, of course.
