Japan, WHY YOUR HARDWARE SO COOL?!?!

That's awful guys, that sort of stuff went away after middle school around here. My high school experience was less cliquey and more everyone knows/is fine with everyone.

For years I thought that the idea of high-school cliques was a Hollywood invention that didn't exist in real life. I guess I just went to good schools!

So, question. Should I make my travel experience into an official thread about it? I think getting more people to take notice would be interesting and enlightening for all.

I moved after my sophmore year to a new school I thought it would be terrible but it was actually the best thing for me. In my old highschoool I was going to school with people I had gone to elementary school and everyone had all these cliques and everyone had all these expectations about you from so many years together. Going to a new school ended up be a blessing because no one had any expectations of you and that essentially left you free to do whatever you wanted and hang with whomever you wanted.

I didn't think my highschool was really cliquey, but based on some of the stuff I heard after I had graduated I was just completely oblivious to a lot of it.

Sad to hear it happened to you. :/
Mine too. I think everyone kind of mellowed out (or dropped out) by the time we hit 16, and while there were still obvious friendship circles everyone was pretty much cool with everyone. bitchyness peaked at 12-14 and thankfully declined after that.

It's alright, I learned pretty quickly to adopt a 'don't care' attitude.

That's the point I ended up reaching. Started getting teased in elementary school, ran all of the way through high school, and for a lot of that, I didn't know how to deal with it—so it was really rough. Then, at some point in high school, I was just kind of like, "If I'm going to catch hell no matter what I do or who am I, then I might as well just be whoever I want to be."

Even when you say that, it's still hard to always feel that way. People can still get to you, words can still hurt. You can still find yourself afraid to face the world, even if what you're most afraid of might be more in your head than in reality. Even still, getting to that point that you reached is what you have to do to survive—and if you can reach that point, sometimes you even come out of things better in the end. Obviously, you'd never want to put yourself in the position of receiving treatment like that from others—but it can make you a stronger, and better, person sometimes.

Even if I might not know you that well, I know that you never deserved what you received. So, I'm really sorry that that happened to you, because it shouldn't have.

There was some cliquely bullshit in HS but it wasn't that bad.

Might have been since I was part of the socially okay dudes that are inoffensive group though

Most of the girls in highschool didn't mind me, but that's because the guys said I was ugly. No threat lol.

I was bullied more in elementary anyway.

Watching speed runs for charity and playing DMC 3 HD and nachos. Good times!

Been watching as much of the marathon as I can. Lee used my Fallout 2 route pretty much to the letter, which was cool (and funny when the RNG gods mocked him as they are wont to do). Just relaxing with this, some earl grey and my e-cig. Bio Force Ape was the best.

I find it interesting that humans can be apart from one another for extended periods of time and still interact as if it was yesterday. Strange but good I suppose.
For my birthday last year, I went out with pretty much as many of my Brighton friends as I could, including some people I hadn't seen for a good 5 years or so, but it felt like no time had passed at all. It was weird.

And I think to stop the insult train I just became really self-deprecating. Hard to insult someone if they do it to themselves as a joke you know.

Yup. My brothers and I were like that every time I came back home to TX after finishing each semester at the university in Puerto Rico.

Same with my college friends who transferred to other universities.

Also: Crap, I'm late this time for RPJ. Will fix it later.

So it is predicted there is going to be around 2-3 weeks of really cold weather. There is a big chance of snow. I'd quite like a bit of snow actually, I just hope we don't have 2-3 weeks of it. lol

Yeah. I was just reading your thread. I like the banner you made. I suppose I will check in on it to see what you have been up to. :p

Not a thread I would make myself though. I tend to want to keep my private life private.

I went to the kind of school where even the 'tough guys' who smoked and drank and did pot and stuff played DOTA whenever they could

You say Holy Shit a lot.

Also I can't really remember much about any LOTR movie.

After tonight's Person of Interest episode and the revelation about Return of the King I think it's warranted.

I had never seen any of the LOTR movies, which is strange considering I live in New Zealand. They've been on TV the past few weeks so I decided to finally watch them.

Late on the replies for this topic as it happened while I was snoozing....

These people in your past just didn't realize how awesome redheads really are. Their loss really.

My high school was too small to have cliques. Still I was never the cool kid. Wouldn't change that even if I could.

I would have hung out with you. We could have been unpopular together.

Most of the girls in highschool didn't mind me, but that's because the guys said I was ugly. No threat lol.

I believe your town may have suffered from severe eye problems that no one was aware of.

On that note, I wasn't popular, but I was never bullied. I've always been bigger than everyone else, so I had automatic intimidation even though I'm completely docile and wouldn't hurt anyone.

I wore black dickies literally everyday for a good 5 months of sophmore year. Every. Fucking. Day.

I wanted to be so succesful in sports because I grew watching my dad be so excited about them. I played at them throughout High School but I was second rate at best. I was a runt. I didn't even start shaving until I was about 22 years old and what I shave now is nothign to write home about, lol.

I would just like to point out that 2 people from this thread are on my PS3 friends list and have also played Assassin's Creed 3. I have more kills than both of them combined... just sayin.

Not wanting to embarrass them or name any names, but one of them tastes like beef and the other likes to explode dooms.

PS3 Dave? PS3? But... but... that's the... inferior version!

I don't want to listen to your 'inferior version of Assassin's Creed' talk.

Keep in mind that I looked like this my senior year:

And they still called me ugly. So....whatever! Hee.
Well, what the hell.

What the hell again.

Okay in light of what has transpired following this post I take those first two "what the hells" back so as to fully allocate all available "what-the-hell"-funding sources to this.

Hello, Real People!

I got a clean break for my first attempt at making cheese! It's Neufchâtel, which is particularly easy. Hopefully straining the whey from the curds, which is the final step, will go smoothly.

Any serious ideas on what I can do with the leftover whey? It looks like there's going to be a lot of it!

I believe that life can be succinctly summarized as 'what the hell'.

I only do it because that's what I played the first 4 games on PS3, so its just what I'm familiar with. Plus, I got it for a christmas present and my mother doesn't know how to buy PC games for me on Steam.

Godstation 3 is the console for us elevated folks. Kutaragi saw fit to unleash this beast for the betterment of the entire world.

Unless you like Bethesda games.

Well, what the hell.

What the hell again.

People, particularly high school kids, are threatened by those who are smarter than them or even just a little different.

I know Fiction was (is!) both smarter and a little different than the people she went to high school with, i imagine Lissar was (is!) too.

A common problem.

See a doctor.
Are we not doing hand-over-mouth pics anymore? am disappoint.
