Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Hey VitaGAF. New member here, first post as well and of course it has to go in VitaGaf. Bought my Vita on Black Friday from Amazon, no way I could pass up on that deal. I love my Vita, I can just push a button and set it down when i don't feel like playing anymore and pick up anytime. And for that whole "Vita has no games", I don't know who came up with that because I keep finding myself buying more games for the Vita weekly and creating a massive backlog.

games i'm playing are

Persona 4 Golden (Bought it along with the Amazon BF Bundle, never played a Persona game before and I'm glad I bought this game. It's Fantastic.)

Need for Speed:Most Wanted (Very fun game, however I need some people who play this to be on my friends list so I can get the trophies from online play So if anyone plays this add me: Trigonx US Region)

Unit 13 (Solid game for quick play, Only like 1/4 through the missions but I enjoy playing Unit 13 to get my shooter fix in)

DJMAX Technika Tune (This game is tough.... I'm not very good at these rhythm games, but i'm getting better at it. Quite an expensive game.)

backlog... too many games. all the ps+ games, LBPV(in shrink wrap), MK(in shrink wrap), HSG, AC:L, Stranger's Wrath, PSASBR, Sound Shapes, and i ordered the CoD game(only paid $30 with free shipping on ebay)... all i've heard is bad things, but i'm curious as to how it plays, I want a fps.

I want to buy EDF, but i'm going to wait on that.

What does it have that the console version doesn't, save not having to pay $20 for the 12 DLC characters?

Gifts via NEAR, an endless vs cpu mode w/alt costumes and colors peppered in as well as people you've fought online, a KO Monument that keeps track of who you beat and gives you a (not achievement-trophy) trophy of their character you knocked out in a state of pain, and of course the 12 characters.

I agree i love the vita stand by, its amazing.

I have Most Wanted unopened but will start playing it soon. Ill add you

Where's the surge of new Vita people coming from all of a sudden? Did we accept a new batch of people?

Regardless welcome to Vita gaf!

I do suspect there's been a new wave of approvals, yes. Certainly, there's been a spike in the number of Juniors around, and a couple of folk from another forum that I know has said that they've just been approved.

on topic content (sorta): decided to get on the Zero Escape bandwagon and ordered 999 & VLR. On the one hand, it's a bit of a waste of money to import VLR, but on the other hand apparently the English dub is worthwhile. We shall see...

(and at the very least, CeX do accept import games. >.>)

vitabros..been lurking this thread for 5 months now, finally got my account validated today

Is there a way to get 999 on Vita? Or did you import the DS version? I want to play VLR but I hear 999 is awesome so I don't want to miss it. I was waiting to see if 999 was going to get ported to vita....

Too many new Vitabros. Vita is too popular. Bailing out.

---

With the M:RC talk I finished all the trophies for the first expansion and just bought the 2nd.
Going to get that 100% back.

So, talked to the wife after she's cooled down some. She said "games are a huge part of your life, so at some point I will have to let you play them again". So - hopefully soon I can have my Vita again :P Happy wife - happy life~

Lift yourself from under her thumb bro. Who am I kidding... I know sheet about marriage, good job :P

Two months later and Ragnarok Odyssey still has Japanese trophies. I hope nothing I'm looking forward to gets picked up by XSEED - haven't made a good first impression on me (Orgarhythm included) .

Good to hear. Just don't go off the deep end when you get a green light again.

Imported the DS version. About £20 from VGP including delivery to the UK. VLR was £30 including delivery, which is about £5 more than UK pricing.

Talking about UK pricing: Persona 4 Golden EU pre-orders £26.96 with the very obvious code.

It will never, ever be ported to Vita. If you played the game you'll know it wont. The system its own plays an integral part of the game.

But who else is going to bring Trails, Ys, and Senran Kagura (lol) to the US?

Senran Kagura would turn my opinion around on anything.

So there's the opportunity for redemption. No more lengthy bugs and overpriced titles like Sumioni and Orgarhythm. More life and hometown.

Got myself a Vita back in November and P4G for Xmas. Girlfriend saw me playing Persona, she started her own file and now she's a Vitabro... hogging the vita 24/7.

It's not exactly likely to be ported, but creative use of effects and visual cues could compensate for the lack of a second screen. Make it appear more distant from the screen than the main view for example. And from what I understand, the art was drawn in high resolution and then downsized to fit the DS screen, so it would look fantastic on the Vita.

I hate the vita browser. just wanly as hell.

But is my fav handheld console wise. Seriously , everything you need, plus with headphones the sound is sweet.

Needs support, Needs Support. would be crime otherwise .

I have a feeling it'll be a handheld with a ton of pretty good and fun games but it won't have much that you can sit there and say "this is a MUST play". That's how the first year has gone so far, although I still have quite a few games to play still. Nothing amazing but lots of solid stuff.

Did you play through 999? Because I am not sure how you can argue that when you actually played through it and then you should know what I am referring to.

Yeah I really want to be VR but I cannot be arsed to buy 999 lol

Actually,I'd say that VLR is perfectly playable without having played 999. If you ever might get 999, you might as well wait for VLR since it will make you appreciate VLR even more. But its perfectly playable without having played 999 and still a great game in itself.

So I'm one member of the apparent horde of new recruits to GAFs Vitabros & Vitamuffins - just got approved the other day. Hello everybody!

I got my Vita (together with a 16 GB memory card) this summer for crazy cheap on the local equivalent of Ebay. The deal was so good that I felt confident that even if the support died down completely within the year (which it wouldn't, obviously), I'd be happy with the games that had already been released and the ones then confirmed as coming. Ever since then I've been following this thread lurkingly - it's funny, I almost feel like I know the most frequent contributors to this thread.

I was there in the shadows when there was a lot of doom and gloom and worries about the future of the Vita, but I feel like the mood and the perception of the system has taken a dramatic change for the better - both in here and on the gaming websites I frequent - hopefully the sales will follow sooner or later. At any rate, I couldn't be happier with my bargain - I've already got a bigger backlog of Vita games than I can handle, PS+ is even more awesome than ever, and I feel that there is an interesting and varied batch of games on the horizon for the system. Hell, we're probably even getting "Wake-Up Club" in Europe any day now! :D

All these walls of text and we get no PSN ID, rude I'd say!

Welcome and nice to see you've been one of teh faithful!

See this is the FIRST TIME anyone on EARTH let a lone GAF has told me that I could even LOOK at VLR without playing 999....BAH

Sorry to get back to you all so late. Thanks for the info, I don't mind extra skins and stuff as DLC so long as the base game is solid, so I'll be picking up RC here shortly. I'm glad it doesn't take up too much space, still rocking the 4 gig card that came with my Assassin's Creed bundle :(

What's genius (but annoying) about motorstorm DLC is that if any of your friends buys it and sets a time, it appears on your pitwall. Try and challenge it and it prompts you to buy the DLC. Slick.

Ogarhythm, Rayman Origins, and Sumioni are getting a price drop next week in US. I don't know what price it will be, though. The PS Blogcast also mentioned Dungeon Hunter Alliance, but I couldn't tell whether they were talking about PS3 or Vita version.

Did you play through 999? Because I am not sure how you can argue that when you actually played through it and then you should know what I am referring to.
I have, and the scene near the end would have to be somewhat reworked of course, but it's not like a creative individual couldn't come up with something that conveyed a similar separation if there was sufficient desire to do a port.

Backtouch justified!

Sadly, those who insist VLR can't be played without 999 don't realize that they're chasing people away from the franchise, especially when it comes to VitaGAF.

It's true though. The last 25% of the game gets pretty crazy with 999 stuff and if you go in blind you'll be left pretty confused, or at the very least it won't have as much impact.

So really it isn't UNPLAYABLE without playing 999?
No. You'll miss some references, and some big revelations won't mean anything to you, but the game itself is pretty self-contained and explains everything you need to know from 999 with dialog or in the data files you can find during the puzzles. The main issue is that you'll get spoiled on most of 999, but if you don't see yourself playing it in the near future, that point is moot.
