Hi Homies and homettes.

I just am having a shit night and thought about posting it here so you lot can share your own experiences of not being able to get any sleep.

I've tried getting to sleep tonight but the next-door neighbours had other plans. It all started at around 1am when I could hear a loud banging through the walls, at first I thought it was the pipes but they usually stop abruptly. I realised it must be the neighbours as I was hearing faint sounds of talking/laughing as well. Well this fucking banging noise still hasn't stopped and it is now 6am, I can't put my finger on what it could be, at one point I thought is was a headboard slamming against the wall from some immense sex going on. But fuck me, they can't be going at it for 5 hours straight, I also don't hear any accompanying moaning.

Well fuck it, this has passed the point of no return. I'm cutting my losses and am going to watch Bourne Legacy... At least it's a Saturday.

What are your thoughts and experiences on situations like this?

I know all about it, lifelong insomniac here. All that works for me is sleeping pills and 2mg of Klonopin, otherwise it's guaranteed 72 hour awake sessions. And even then sometimes I have trouble.

Thought you were talking shit about the movie, came here to shit on you.

Infact, OP watch Sleepless Night, instead of Bourne.

............Bark! Barkbarkbark bark bark...! BARK! Barkbarkbarkbarkbark! Bark bark!

I'm a dog lover but this neighbor's dog is asking to be forcibly muzzled in the middle of the night.

If there was a ; in between sleepless nights and suck balls this would be an interesting topic.

I feel like standing outside their house and waiting for the sun to rise. The first person out the door will be greeted with my fist in their face

Going through a sleepless night myself. 6:21 am and still wide awake. It's exam season and my ability to concentrate is becoming worse and worse, it's gotten to a point where I can't even sit in a chair for 2 minutes without wanting to get up and my shoukders are ridiculously tense. I haven't been able to get anything done, so the prospect of another terrible semester is keeping me up. Fuck this.

Last week I had a few days where I had to get up at 6 which proved hard with my extremely shitty sleeping pattern, so ended up also not being able to sleep and only getting a few hours here and there, hate it.

Yeah I didn't sleep tonight either. First time in years because I'm trying to sort my sleeping pattern out. At least you'll sleep well later

I'm also having a hard time falling asleep. I'm coming down with a sore throat so I really need a good night's rest but its just not coming. I may try to read a little (The Hobbit) and see if that helps.

Oh yeah, I haven't slept at night for a week - so hard to turn around. =/

As a matter of fact, I also watched Bourne Legacy this night.

Yeah, I've been going through some bad insomnia the last few years.

Last night was really bad. I was able to sleep a couple of hours max. I don't know what to do. I bought three generic "nighttime cold" medicines (aka generic NyQuil) and have been taking that every night without much success.

I don't have access to anything like Ambien or Alprazolam.

This really sucks.

I've been thinking about getting some pills cause I can't sleep

Good way to turn a short term issue into a life long problem.

Before killing yourself, try melatonin.

..but if you gotta take something...take this. Personally, I think taking it in vitamin form is a bit like a placebo, but at least its a naturally occurring supplement that the body actually does use for sleep.

Sleep issues are almost always caused by something going on in a persons life, rather than an underlying physical issue requiring medication. Nearly everyone has gone a couple days without sleep (some more than that). Shit happens. Doesn't mean there's anything physically wrong. Unless you have sleep apnea.

Don't know how true this is, but I heard taking melatonin won't help much. If the reason I remember why, it's because the amount of melatonin contained in the pill is barely sufficient enough to help at all.

I had a bad spell of sleepless nights a few months back and melatonin was a savior for me. It didn't seem to be addicting to me, I was able to stop taking it after about two weeks and it righted my ship. I agree that insomnia is typically do to other factors but it helped me get the sleep I needed to get over that hump and feel better.

Honestly, I find that if you workout or do some exercises in the morning/mid-day and tire yourself out, you'll sleep like a baby at night (assuming you take steps to turn of all distracting electronics and whatnot).

EDIT: Never work out at night if you want to sleep. It'll only keep you up even longer.
