People say "don't underestimate the bronies" as often as people say "don't try and take on Dark Phoenix one on one." And people constantly do both. THAT'S what makes me go "wat.son."

Hmm. What would be better for the FGC?

Smash Bros Melee at Evo, where people get to see that it's a "real" fighting game?
Skullgirls at Evo, which helps a western indie fighting game developer?

I'm not one for those "what's better for X" comparisons. I like when different things are run because it might get someone interested in something they might not have gone for otherwise (pretty much the reason why I play Marvel/have a new passion for fighters). At the same time, I like both and couldn't pick between them. :lol
 
This makes me REALLY wish they had gone with two slots instead of one like I initially wanted. I had a strong feeling that it would have worked out better in the long run. We would have gotten Melee/Skullgirls or Melee/Guilty. Would've been so good.

Either one is good. Keep in mind that the Smash scene will keep on trucking with or without the FGC.

Skullgirls and their devs need more help than Brawl. They took hard losses trying to break into the fighting game development scene, a niche scene already with a niche title. They personify the grassroots element of the FGC and what it can produce, as much as I don't fancy the game personally.

Smash doesn't need to prove itself to anyone if they haven't already got it for the past 10 years.

Personally? I'd be happy if CvS2, MvC2 or Melee win.

The worst was the lawsuit against Autumn games. It couldn't have come at a worse time.

The established community of MK players are satisfied with MK being in the roster and are fine with waiting til next year after the game has had it's high level play develop with plenty of time.

Those who aren't fans of MK aren't hype for it because of NRS' lackluster marketing so far.

Everyone's fine with just waiting til it's out, playing it, and being concerned about EVO lineups next year.

If MK wasn't in the lineup, it would be different.
 
I really want to see Melee. Skullgirls would be nice too of course to garner more support so it can get more updates.
I'd rather see Guilty Gear next year after the update.

As for Skullgirls odds, the problem is while I can see an anti-Smash vote developing, they're going to split it between Skullgirls and Guilty (Skullgirls deserves it more- and I say this as someone who doesn't like Skullgirls gameplay)

I think VF would have done much better if it wasn't for Sega Cup- most of the big names in VF are aiming for that over Evo right now.
