Look I'm not even going to talk this game up, it would take me too long to describe the insane amount of stuff you can do in it.

Go here

http://www.gog.com/gamecard/eador_genesis

Read, buy, play. It's $6.

If you like turn based strategy, fantasy, rpgs, Heroes of Might and Magic or Master of Magic, you probably want to be playing this, now.

From what I know, it was made by mostly one dude and released back in 2009, but it was just released earlier this month on GoG with a (solid) English translation.

Oh, and he's working on a sequel, and asking for help to get it on Steam via Greenlight.

Read, watch, vote.

I've never heard of this before today, but the little I've played looks amazingly promising. Maybe it falls apart later, we'll see. It's been more fun in an hour than I've had with any other tbs I can think of recently.

If it starts to suck later, I'll post an update, but so far... yeah, more people need to know about this.

It deserves a longer OP than this, but I don't have time for OPs, I have Eador to explore!

Been eying this and trying to discuss it a bit in those other recent gog and master of magic etc threads with little success.

Is Heoes and Master of Magic actually a thing of did you mean to write Heroes of Might and Magic?
He means "Heroes (of Might and Magic)" and "Master of Magic", two different games/series, that this takes after.

In case anyone buys this and runs into the same problem I had, you can fix the slowdown/stuttering by altering your Windows power scheme to decrease your maximum CPU usage. 50% worked for me!

I'd say for $6 this is superior to the AOW games. It seems to have an AI, which makes it better than AOW by default, where it takes 10 minutes to realize how useless the AI is.

It's not up to par with Fallen Enchantress, but that's a much more modern game with a much larger budget.

*looks at thread title, thinks: Is this really like my favorite game series of all time Heroes?* Oh god, what have you done? Time to buy and lose all my time forever.

It's a great game but at this point I'd recommend just waiting for the improved remake. It's in beta now so should be out early next year.

Have you played it, is it as good, I'd think a change in development (clearly no longer a nearly one man show with those graphics) could affect it in not always positive ways.

I haven't personally played it yet but I hear lots of good things about the beta, and they've also changed very little about the gameplay itself it seems, it's basically a remake with some enhancements. Not like the first one's flawless anyway, there's some issues (e.g. the random difficulty spikes) that I hope will be ironed out. And as you can see with Imper1um's post here they're very engaged in various gaming forums and seem to listen to feedback.

Don't agree with this at all. Game owns. Buy it now and enjoy it now :P

Game definitely is great, but there is lots of clunky stuff in it, like non-existed animation and so fourth. I'd recommend to wait untill the remake, hope they'll fix some other stuff beside visual part.

The keys are sent out :)

We really do, there's not so many of us in the studio so any feedback with a crystal clear view on the game is very appreciated.

Looks interesting, so interesting that I'm afraid to start playing it.

Do it, the game is awesome and needs more love.

I'd recommend hitting up the something awful forums, the Eador thread there is getting a lot of love from people discovering the game

RPGCodex is also in love with it, I can't remember the last time a game was so unanimously liked there.

Bumping this up for the new years. Come play the best TBS in recent memory, then cry as it kicks your ass on Beginner.

the new game will kick your ass less at the beginning and it will offer more various difficulty levels. That is the only concession that was made.

I wanted too. Massive stuttering on my desktop and I don't even know how to describe what went wrong on my laptop. Let me know if the sequel is playable.

I loved Master of Magic and intensely dislike the HoMM series. Not sure what that means I'd think of this game. HoMM is just stacks and a cheating AI. MoM your unit count prevented stacks and it didn't matter if the AI cheated because you could still out-think it at the tactical level.

It works the same way in Eador, one unit is one unit, no stacks.

Would that news happen to include Genesis appearing on Steam/Greenlight seeing as MotBW was successful? ;)

A whole new Greenlight effort for what's basically the same game except without the flashy 3D graphics which will lead to less votes? Don't think it's gonna happen.

Hi guys!

We're finally starting to send out keys for the second beta participants. I wanted to let you know that we're still accepting sign-ups in case you're interested. Here's how you can do it.

It's quite simple really and there are no any specific requirements. Hope to see you there :)

It depends on Valve mostly. If it'd possible now to get Genesis on Steam without the Greenlight stage we're all for that :)

This may be the case:

It just occurred to me that the original Euro Truck Sim was released on Steam without needing to go through Greenlight. Is this the first piece of evidence we have that suggests greenlit developers/publishers can leave the less-than-perfect system behind them once one of their products has been selected?

On the other hand, MotBW fans might be enough in number to push it through, assuming it'd even need to go through Greenlight.

And we're live :) You can now pre-order the game on GOG for $19.99.

When you pre-order Eador. Masters of the Broken World, you also get a free copy of Eador. Genesis, or--if you already have it-- you get a 10% discount on the new game's price.

To celebrate we're doing a Q&A with the GOG community. You can ask some questions here, we'll be answering them next week :)

I intend to pre-order, but I'm not sure if I'll make the cut-off date. I assume Genesis will be available separately (on Steam) later down the line?

Interesting, I had kinda given up on the genre after the latest HOMM and I've never liked King's Bounty for some reason but both this and Age of Wonders 3 look actually good!

Unfortunately, it won't be. We tried to get Genesis on Steam separately but getting it with MotBW pre-purchase was the only deal Steam has agreed on.

Ah, boo. :( Hopefully Valve changes its tune in the future.
