I don't know what to believe any more.
They should just announce these damn things already.
A long 6 months.
Would be hilarious if they announced it without a full spec sheet for more speculation.
At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the lid was blown off one or both consoles hardware wise within the next few weeks.
Name and logo, so devs can hype their games up.
100% unlikely though.
Anyway, re: tesselation, it's a great thing, but using a lot of it carries massive performance penalties even on powerful PC systems.
Link?I know right, you see more devs talking about next systems (see DA3 interview) It feels like it's holding them back.
And honestly, many times it doesn't look all that great. I mean the face of the demon in UE4 looked to be heavily tesselated and I thought it looked terrible.
Isn't tesselation used in Hitman and Max Payne 3 to give that round look to head's shapes?

Yes but it's really not worth the performance hit. I think Crysis 2 on PC did a good job with tesselation but more often than not the results are not impressive.
Durango is powerful and the PS4 is pretty powerful but the point to be noted is that they're powerful enough. Can someone please translate the last few pages into dudebro for me

From Jehova The Third on Beyond 3D Forum thread:
From what I take it, somebody trolled while leaking some real specs?
Some spec leaks.Wait what the hell is going on??
Wait, so what did he say?
I'll say it one more time:
32 MB ES RAM @ 102 GB/S
8 GB DDR @ 68 GB/S

32mb would be not enough, or at least just enough. So it's probably true.
Is that enough bandwidth?
Maybe pretty powerful. What's more powerful, powerful or pretty powerful?
I'll say it one more time:
32 MB ES RAM @ 102 GB/S
8 GB DDR @ 68 GB/S
It's enough.
Not considering bottlenecks.... I guess 170GB/s look very very close to 192 GB/s. On paper.
Yeah, for a 1080p frame buffer. I can't see any more being put in. It's damn expensive and hot.
I may be wrong, but I don't think the math works that way.

@anexanhume i'll just say, there are rumors out there that are super close, but i haven't seen anyone actually nail durango down yet.
1080p is all you need! When 4K is right around the corner.1080p is enough for screen grabs to look close to bullshots.
Teh plot thickens.
Questions:
- Is there only one clocked speed for EDRAM (i.e. is its performance identical to that off WiiU's edram)?
- People are talking about fitting 1080p in that buffer and how it may not leave much headroom for AA. However, if the resolution is something like 1280/1440/1680 x 1080 etc, then would this still be a point of contention?

32MB of ram is all anyone will need! No one will ever use more than that.
MS must have some secret deal to get special 8-gigabit or 4 gigabit DDR3/4 chips unless I am missing something. I'm unaware of any DDR 2133 chip with a capacity higher than 2 gigabits. And that adds up to a whopping 32 RAM chips to get to 8 Gigabytes.

Some of you guys saying you want AA and that 2xAA is okay have never wandered into the the high res screenshot thread where they're doing 4xSGSSAA and shit.
