Rumored Chinese Forum Xbox720 specs: 8CoreCPU,8GB,HD8800GPU,W8,640GBHDD

Name and logo, so devs can hype their games up.
100% unlikely though.

I remember something somewhat controversial on the PS3 base model that wasn't revealed until after show and spec sheet released. Maybe it was HDMI I do not recall but some folks were in fits.

Anyway, re: tesselation, it's a great thing, but using a lot of it carries massive performance penalties even on powerful PC systems.

And honestly, many times it doesn't look all that great. I mean the face of the demon in UE4 looked to be heavily tesselated and I thought it looked terrible.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the lid was blown off one or both consoles hardware wise within the next few weeks.

Well that's the risk the companies run by announcing later, announce on your terms or have everything leak and the surprise ruined.

Questions:

  • Is there only one clocked speed for EDRAM (i.e. is its performance identical to that off WiiU's edram)?
  • People are talking about fitting 1080p in that buffer and how it may not leave much headroom for AA. However, if the resolution is something like 1280/1440/1680 x 1080 etc, then would this still be a point of contention?

MS must have some secret deal to get special 8-gigabit or 4 gigabit DDR3/4 chips unless I am missing something. I'm unaware of any DDR 2133 chip with a capacity higher than 2 gigabits. And that adds up to a whopping 32 RAM chips to get to 8 Gigabytes.

It's not even EDRAM apparently. It's the sister, yeah I don't know if she's any hotter.

1080p is all you need! When 4K is right around the corner.
32MB of ram is all anyone will need! No one will ever use more than that.

You could've left the sarcasm out. What is your point of comparison? A GTX 680 running a game made with consoles in mind?

Yeah I'm sure if devs want they can get "last gen" games running at 4K in next gen. If they really wanted to.

If I had to guess this won't be UMA. OS ram will be OS ram(2gb slow ddr 3? - maybe for Kinect and OS). APP ram will be app ram(6gb faster ddr 3?)
