Lance Armstrong plans to admit doping to Oprah (USA Today)

Ridiculous to claim he didn't have cancer.

Is there any scientific evidence to support the fact that EPO / Steroids can give you cancer though? I guess he could have been on HGH.

I think testosterone has some links to testicular cancer. I do believe he did HGH but don't remember the specifics.

I would doubt the EPO has anything like that, it is a commonly used drug, I mean common beyond cyclists :)

Cold blooded. What are they going to do though, come to his house and take it? That's why LA is smug as fuck, because he still has all of this shit hanging up on the walls of his house.

I buy fake Karate trophies so I can order champagne and celebrate when I go clubbing.

Pretty sure Lance is contractually obligated to return them. I would be surprised if WADA/IOC/UCI didn't have specific wording that cheating means forfeiture of awards. Not sure about sponsors that also got yellow jerseys.

I did read that someone was streaming it... but I can't for the life of me remember who.

I'm just going to read the transcript so I don't have the urge to throw something through my TV.

Oprah.com says it'll be available there, but no word if it's a simulcast or re-broadcast. If live, it'll most likely be geo restricted, so get your header modifiers/VPN's ready.

I didn't know Lance had so much money. Damn. With his entourage of lawyers and handlers at the Oprah interview. Those don't come cheap.

I wonder if he's able to keep all the money.

Hopefully I'll be able to wake up for this. Never been interesting in cycling but I'm really interested in this interview.

I don't at all doubt that he had cancer. While I may not believe anything from Armstrong's mouth, the Andreus' were in the hospital room with him when he was telling the doctors about his drug usage.

I don't remember where I read this, or if it's true, but somewhere it was said that Lance has the upper hand with the UCI because they failed to realize his labs were off. With testicular cancer (or any other I imagine) his labs would have been abnormal and should have tipped off someone that he was in trouble. But no one ever said anything or seemed to notice. A different cyclist was told by a lab assistant that he needed to see a doctor and that helped him get diagnosed with TC. By the time LA went, according to legend, it had already metastasized to his brain and lungs.

Jake Gibb is the other cyclist:

The article also explains better about the lab situation.

Remember when he tweeted a pic laid out on a huge couch with all his tour victory and trophies on the wall, being quite a prick about everything? What a douche

I'm waiting on Gaffers to post links to the interview or else make gifs of the best moments.

I expect he'll have a moment where he cries and the camera will alternate between him and sympathetic Oprah who'll pat him on the back and say, "But you can still make it right." And then he'll announce that he's giving half his net worth to charity and the audience will clap. By this time next year, even those of us who think he's full of shit will still try to hold off on berating him because he'll have begun a widespread awareness and research campaign.

I'd be impressed if he said something like, 'yeah I cheated, and I loved every minute of it. You mad?'

Haha, that would be something.

Honestly not expecting anything interesting to come out of this, he'll pull the "everyone else did it" and the usual nonsense people use to rationalize his actions.

Love her take on this. Get out with the biggies. Then you can tune out if you had any doubt or have something else to do.

Lots of running commentary for those of us who can't watch it, plz :)

and for those who don't want to watch it/give this ass attention :p

So he pretty much did anything he could illegally to win?

This interview would mean a lot more if it wasn't happening only after it was proven he cheated. Talk about being late to the party to cover his ass and save any face at all.

lance armstrong's definition of everyone having access to the same drugs: the drugs were there, i was the only one who could afford them

*The Culture*

"So what is the Culture?"

"Well...I don't wanna accuse anybody..."

Masterful dodging the question there.
i can only assume this is going to turn into some digs at hamilton
