I managed to get through it but it was obvious the design had shifted from the get go. It looks like 3 will build on that even more. I don't mind having another fun TPS but the original showed so much potential that was never followed up.
 
Oh, yeah I dunno they're weird.

EDIT: I almost thought you were talking about going back to the Dead Space franchise. Made me laugh a bit.

What potential did the first one have that the second one didn't follow, exactly?

Dead Space 2 was superior to Dead Space in almost every way. Hardcore mode Dead Space 2 is fucking incredible.

I changed my mind on Dead Space 3 after playing Dead Space 2 but after knowing there's no split-screen co-op I don't even know.

Fuck this generation's hatred of couch gaming. Split screen should be mandatory, and four player split screen much more widespread.

Split-screen is so good, I also hate when games don't have it. GR:FS has it in the stupid horde-mode instead of the campaign.

I have a 96" (2.4m) screen, and 4-player is awesome.

I really wanted Forza 4 to have 4-player instead of 2-player and then Forza Horizon has no split-screen at all. I'd really like a racing game to play with people on the couch that doesn't involve goddamn turtle shells (or the equivalent).

The only reason I get some console games is because they have split-screen...
Usually Nintendo consoles are still strong in the split screen dept...

Feels as if with the PS3 or 360,
developers think you have no real friends only online ones... :/

I've got a sealed copy of Dead Space 1 that's been sitting around various parts of my room for years.

In my defense I played a bit/watched through most of the game when a couple friends played through it.

While the trend of splitscreen co-op going away is a bummer, I think it's still fun to trade off/share experiences in single player games. Not ideal sure, but these days I'm mostly online co-oping anyway.

I've never owned DS1 but also know more or less how the campaign goes by watching a friend play it on PC.
I know almost nothing of DS2 though, so thats gonna be a fresh experience I hope :p

In Farsi (and other cultures), the word for tea is "chai". I guess Western advertisers didn't have confidence in tea selling without the word "tea" in it. Together, it sounds like someone is ordering tea-tea and I always have to restrain myself from cringing/laughing. No mercy for juniors though! :P

Okay, I'm done being crazy. I'll be on my lawn, throwing cats at neighborhood kids if you need me.
 
Agreed, thanks Trin. It explains why I know people who just say chai.

My first meal of the day is consisting of clementines, bananas, some trail mix, maybe crackers.

Oh and some leftover rice I think...maybe...;D

I actually knew about chai being the word for tea in some languages. I still call it chai tea anyway because if I just say chai many people won't know I'm talking about tea and especially not a specific kind of tea. It's the thing with languages, they take words and evolve them for their own use. It's not silly or wrong to use them this way. For example, if I pronounce karaoke the "correct" way most people in the US won't have any clue what I'm talking about. So instead I pronounce it the way it has evolved in English use despite the fact that the pronunciation makes me cringe. The primary use of language is in being understood by others.

Pronunciation is definitely one of my tiny pet peeves... which is bad since the one who usually mispronounces things is me.
 
Dead Space and Dead Space 2 are both good for different reasons but personally I liked DS1 better. I like that the feeling of Isolation was more pervasive in the first one and that makes it scarier to me. There were also some survival horror elements and had more tools type weapons. I do like the second one but I wouldn't call it horror, its more of a shooter with scary looking enemies. One of the main things I didn't like in DS2 compared to DS was the story, newer markers, unitologists, the government, there's just too much going on and the more they explained the mystery behind the marker and the necros, the more unnecessarily convoluted and shittier it got. I know I'm going to enjoy the third one but probably not as much as I enjoyed the first. There aren't many good survival horror games this gen and DS1 was a breath of fresh air.
 
I "mispronounce" English words/loanwords in German all the time so people have an easier time understanding what I'm trying to say. Weird for me to bastardize them but it's easier for all involved.

The first few times I tried to order a Red bull at a bar/restaurant I had to say it like 5 times before the person understood... finally I realized I have to pronounce it like the Swiss do.

I don't actually have a problem with the pronunciation (other than thinking it sounds bad.) It is an English word now that it has been absorbed into the language and so now more closely aligns with English pronunciation rules. Much like the -oke part of karaoke being derived from orchestra, but now adheres to Japanese pronunciation rules once it became a Japanese word.

I work with Persian kids and trying to explain in their broken English the difference between tea and western chai was a pain in the arse.

Perhaps because I come from a biracial family where both words are used commonly, it's more grating and unnatural to me than others would find it. The appropriation of foreign terms is certainly the defining feature of the English language, but I believe "chai tea" is simply the result of redundant product branding rather than some sort of colloquial evolution.

We've memorized a million different made-up words of Starbucks lingo to distinguish different kinds of coffee, so I don't believe it would be a stretch to think that the same wasn't easily capable with a few different kinds of tea (take "Boba" for example).

Not a Coffee drinker but that Vanilla Bean Frap(No whipped cream or caramel) is probably one of my favorite things ever. I'd take it over a milk shake anytime.
