NVIDIA to release GeForce Titan

Corky

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
Holy hell that's one powerful gpu. Would buy if I could afford, luckily I can't >_>... a fool and his money something something.

There is no way they put out a single card at $900 and let the rest of their line sit at year old hardware. The 7xx series will surely be following for the rest of us.

This is basically a PS4 with out the bluray right?

Not even close. And I mean that in a good way.

The PS4 is rumoured to have something similar to a 7970m. That is nowhere near this in terms of performance, probably twice as fast as the future PS4 at least.

Finally a card that can handle 3D vision AND surround vision at the same time.

3 screens pushing 120fps in 3D at the same time.

If you dont belong in the group above this card isnt for you.

*ps or supersampling fans...

The things there's probably like a $400 profit margin on that thing. AMD really needs to step it up. Both Intel and Nvidia basically do what ever they want. :\
With the price of the Tesla, they'll actually be forgoing quite a margin that already exists. I think that's a big part of the reason why they haven't released GK110 for consumers until now. Yields were still too low that they could barely keep the Tesla in stock.
Oh yea you can go from 60 fps to 65 fps ooo wow. Maybe a tiny bit more detailed shadows. You guys have become caricatures of yourselves. It's sad.
120hz = 120 fps. The lower the frame time, the lower the input lag as well. Very important for competitive gamers.

Complete BS. (Charlie fan?)

Might sell my 680 for this. Was thinking of SLI but this is the better alternative. I don't think the 7xx series will be a significant leap over the 6xx. Gotta wait for Maxwell for that.

Does not compute, you go big or you go console.

That is sillyness. I have two systems.

Main System:

i7 930 w/ Radeon 7970GHZ, SSD and 6GB of RAM

Media System:

AMD 8150 w/ Geforce 460, 500GB Harddrive and 4GB of RAM.

My media system is hooked up to a TV and it looks perfectly fine on most games at 1080p at high settings 60fps. I appreciate the extra power I get out of my desktop system, but really it's just tiny bells and whistles. You can build a very, very capable machine for $500-$600. When i get into a game, I usually forget the difference of what system I'm playing on.

No. Improvements that change the landscape. Nobody's making mountains out of molehills here.

Isn't it more a case of making their money on the business market and now switching over to the consumer market to make that last buck? It's been cooking for quite a while now. The thing looks like an absolute beast though.

Please tell me what possible use this could have in gaming in the next say 5 years? Much less 2 of them?

Well, computer monitors are lagging behind tablet screens, but it shouldn't be long before 200+ ppi monitors become the standard. If you're downsampling, then you're rendering at a much higher resolution and shrinking it. Pretty soon, that overblown target resolution will become "native resolution".

A 27" monitor at 6400 x 3600 is approximately 270 ppi. That's less than most smartphones.

It could be, but I do know their yields with Kepler were really low. The 680 was even barely in stock for the first couple of months it was out, and it wasn't even a huge seller. Tesla has been consistently in and out of stock for a really long time now as well.

$900!!! Damn.

Yes I am aware that is what high end cards go for, but still every time I see one I go damn $900 bucks for just a video card. I spend that much on a whole system usually.

Of course with that said one day I would like to go all out with a PC build. Even if it is just a one time thing.

For the record people making loud noised over the price. At this moment here in europe the GTX 690 is €969,-. So that being said every new generation the top of the line is always expensive no mather how you look at it.

Overlooking the price, what i find exciting about having this sort of performance from a single GPU is how much more viable running the Oculus Rift will be for demanding games. I mean shit, having two of these cards running in SLI would pretty much guarantee near perfect performance (120fps@1080p) right? But then reality does kick in with the price tag bwahahaha

What? Again, completely untrue.

Kepler (GK104) yields were fine.

I really don't get the reactions here, $900 for the best technology that money can buy you is nothing compared to what people spend in other hobbies.

The business market is a strange place though, I hear Nvidia has that on a lockdown as well. From what I understand most business software is optimized for Nvidia cards.
