I am hoping the Virtual Console service for WiiU is announced. If I have to re-purchase anything, I am going to be pretty ticked off.

You won't be the only one. That would spawn a 100-page GAF hate thread and this time it would actually be filled with people who own a Wii U, not just those who want to complain about one.

I think that we care about E3 far more than Nintendo does. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually stop turning up for it.

Look at Pokemon X+Y, for example. That would have been an E3 Megaton. The game isn't coming until the end of the year.
They'll likely show off more footage at E3 :)

I'm pretty much 100% sure MonolithSoft and/or Retro will be mentioned, at least. The Wiiu is at a point where people have to know what's coming next, outside of launch window. Nintendo will talk about that. I mean, the tweets explicitely say it's going to be about first-party software, and they can't just mention Pikmin and Wario.
Right?

That announcement was the talk of the day in the gaming world. It would be forgotten fast at E3 because of the next gen announcements. So I understand what you are saying ^^

Virtual Boy ports to 3DS will be the true megaton.

But looking forward to actual Wii U release dates.. hopefully.. the landscape of Wii U software looks so barren right now.

Despite that I'm very sure that we wouldn't get solid news about Smash tmw, but I can see how it could go if they did.

Hypothetically, they could show SSB4 tomorrow but they will only show 4 to 6 returning characters battling it out on stages. Soon as video are going to end, the message would come up. It will read as more characters coming to E3. That's when we will expect bunch of new characters and cinematic trailer debut.

Wishful thinking.

this better be something bad ass. something big coming.

i'm hoping it's mario kart, zelda, star fox, or metroid related.

if not, i'll be playing black ops 2 and NSMBU for another 6 months.... :|

Basically, it's the Blue Ocean strategy in effect. They know full well that the new Xbox and Playstation will dominate proceedings and coverage at E3, so it's best for them to unveil their stuff now, when there's no competition.

At least, I hope that's what they're doing.

Right?
It could always just be 30 minutes of Reggie taking a dump while repeating over and over that Resident Evil Revelations HD isn't the same game as the 3DS version.

Nintendo needs to take the Apple route and ensure that no matter what hardware you buy going forward, your older digital content will be safe and sound on whatever future Nintendo hardware you purchase. I am hoping they will set this precedent so that both Sony and MS will consider doing the same with their upcoming consoles, or be hated on by gamers.

Now if they announce a unification of eShops between 3DS and WiiU, I will just about faint!
Megaton!

They could always announce stuff now but "reveal" it later. What I mean by that is Iwata could announce that (insert major franchise here) is on the way without showing much of anything -- and that would get a ton of attention. Then, they could show gameplay and a full trailer at E3.

I don't know what they're planning but there is quite a few routes they could take.

I think they should announce an achievement system that ties in with eShop discounts people seem to choose 360 over a Wii U version of a game because this is missing

Let's assume that they have a 3d Mario, a major Zelda game, a Metroid game, and maybe one major new IP currently under development...

What would it hurt to reveal one (or two) now, and save the others for E3?

This is what I want to believe.

smh at people expecting a new ambassador program.

I bet it's exactly one of the things they were worried about when the did it for the 3DS. Setting that unreasonable precedent.

Iwata: "Konichiwa. Today I want you to look to our next project. Shibata san?"

Shibata: "Konichiwa Iwata San"

Iwata: "Shibata you're fired."

Shibata: (cries)

Iwata: (laughs)

Iwata: "Now look at Cosmic Walkers Wii U, developed by Artoon"

end.

Nintendo Ambassador 2 !!!

Yes ! The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, F-Zero GX, Super Mario Sunshine on Virtual Console and playable on GamePad all coming for free to those already owning a Wii U. Wii U price slashed by 50$.

I'm guessing I should turn on my Wii U early morning for the update Iwata announces that is released immediately.

Instead of eShop discounts, here's an idea that might make a lot of sense for Nintendo. If you acquire 100% of the achievements in a Wii U game, you unlock a bonus 10 coin Club Nintendo survey with questions specifically centred around having played a game to total completion. Kills three birds, as players get achievements, they get tangibly rewarded for achievements, and Nintendo gets additional data from a very specific demographic of hardcore players.

Nope, unfortunately not possible. (I wish though.)

This is a good middle-ground (although money would be preferred).

More than 10 points would be preferred though. That's not much.

I don't actually believe they are doing an Ambassador Program.

Wii U has achievements it's just not fully detailed like Xbox Achievements and PlayStation Trophies, it's completely optional for devs, but I agree Nintendo should make it as good or better as the others and make it tie to your Nintendo Network Account.
