Stop posting spoilers or may be spoilers, douchelords.

Dunno how that's a spoiler. It's not like a character named Jenny Olsen being in the movie is a spoiler, or that the character has anything to do with the plot, or that you learned anything about the plot of the movie by finding out there's someone named Jenny Olsen in the movie. You don't know who Jenny Olsen is, what she does, or how she factors in. I didn't tell you what Jenny Olsen does, if she has any lines or not, or anything along those lines.

I posted that a character named Jenny Olsen is in the movie, and provided a link to an article that speculates a little about her.

What's that in reference to?

Sorry, I linked the wrong post. Fixed now. That specific character in the trailer gave me a female Jimmy Olsen vibe, and I was really hoping it was true.

Regarding that specific post you are asking about; it is in reference to the 'maybe' discussion we had at one point.

I'm just talking in general, I saw someone post a bunch of paragraphs detailing the story.

I read the spoilers. For those that won't read them, be assured they do sound pretty fucking incredible. Also, one non-spoiler mentioned in them is that Michael Shannon's character is well-written and his performance is outstanding. Which I totally believe, as I loved him in Boardwalk Empire, and I absolutely believe he can make an incredibly badass villain.

Loved him past tense? Thanks for the spoiler jerk.

(I'm not really pissed)

Max Fleischer Superman is still my favorite look for the character. Granted I'm biased because I was introduced to Superman when I was four years old and my mom got me a VHS of the Fleischer cartoons for my birthday.

Damn it, I want those things on blu-ray Warner Bros. ><

They're out on Blu here in the states, but I read a shitty job was done on them because the stupid ass company Gaiam who put them out watermarked their own logo/name onto the cartoons. Not sure wtf they were thinking, but I passed cause of it.

See for yourself...

Looks like somebody new has been revealed via Lego's MOS sets that were on display at the London Toy Fair. No photos were allowed but the contents of the set and character in question was
The Battle of Smallville - Comes with Superman, Faora, General Zod, Colonel Hardy and Tor-An.

The character is part of comics lore where
Tor-An was part of General Zod's army and at one point is sent to Earth as Kryptonian Sleeper Agent. More info on him HERE

Superman become God in 1995?

lol It was an Elseworlds tale involving Gotham on the brink of being nuked, Superman fighting a Vampiric Batman clone created by 2 Hitler clones who then gun down Superman who survives enough to wield 4 miniguns and blows them away.

Yes this actually happens.

I hope it's as good a Superman movie as John Carter.

John Carter rocked (fuck the haters), but this will surpass it. I hope the music is as good, love the OST... Zimmer don't fail me with this!

Instead of believing a man can fly, I believe a man can finally direct a great Superman movie not named Donner.

I agree

Carter was indeed entertaining.

Looking at that pic, I'd forgotten how many Elseworlds supes books there were.

Wonder if any of them are on comixology.

Sculli, right now I love you.

We don't always agree. But when we do, I want to sex you up.

Is it a coincidence that JC lovers are Superman fans? So we also love and worship The Iron Giant?

Oh and thanks Matrix for reminding me to hit iTunes to grab the JC soundtrack! Loved it!

Iron Giant is basically my favorite animated film of all time. I want that on blu ray badly :( And no problem!

Loving the Iron Giant makes sense, as it's probably the only movie that really nails what makes Superman heroic, even moreso than Donner's original.

But John Carter was confused, scattered, and mostly flat. It wasn't BAD, and didn't deserve the heap of recycled meat that was laid on its chest, but it's not very good, either.

It had an adorable Space-Pug, though, with more personality and attachment to the hero than Jimmy Olsen's ever had, so John Carter's got that over any Superman movie so far.

Man of Steel rated PG-13 "for intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, and for some language."

No surprise really, though doesn't this mean that for the film to have been rated that Snyder would have submitted what should be the final cut of the film? I forgot how the ratings system works.

I believe that's correct.

Season 4, season 7, and Lana's dumping on season 8 are really the only parts I skip. I actually like the brainiac/bizarro/kara stuff from season 7 it's just the lana/veritas stuff I can't stand.

Season 4 had such promise before it got buried by them shoehorning Lana into the main plot and the constant possession/amnesia/body switching episodes.

I completely agree. Season 4 ended with a bang and 5 conducted itself as if to say "ok, we're sorry about the teen stuff" to a degree (especially with the strong first three or four episodes it began with). There are solid episodes even in the bad seasons, though, like "Run" in season 4.

Okay, the more we talk about this, the more I think rewatching Smallville is a terrible idea.

Don't do it.

We should make a master list of the ~25-50 Must Watch/Plot/Good episodes.

Skip most of season 4, watch 5, then skip to 9 & 10.
Season 8-10 are fantastic. When they added Tess the show really found its footing. Too much of season 6 or seven were monster of the week w/ Clark barging in lex's home for advice, or to yell at him

Those are the best seasons really. And you're so right about Tess.

Fantastic is a bit of stretch, but season 9 in particular had a really strong idea of what it wanted to do. Season 10 has some of the absolute best and worst episodes of the show, somehow.

Seasons 3 & 9 were probably my favorites overall with seasons 2, 10, and 5 having a lot of winners.

Good luck. I never got past S3 or something like that and it was my first sitting.

God it sucks.

Ah, c'mon. You didn't like the asylum plot with Lex? Clark discovering his powers? Jonathan Kent? Lionel & Lex?

Okay, if you're GONNA rewatch Smallville, I can see this being a good idea. Essentially a curated mixtape of the best episodes with all the filler cut away.

I bet you could do it in 30 episodes.

Arguably 10, but you'd miss a lot of the fun stuff. You need to see episode 100, the fortress being built, meeting one or two other DC heroes, the major power discovery episodes, meeting Lois, Clark
telling Lois he's an alien
, episode 200, a solid amount of Zod, and a few key Lex/Clark episodes (namely in seasons 2, 3 and 5). The rest would be the basics: the pilot, the finale, etc.

I actually liked Smallville a lot, mostly because I grew up with it, I watched every episode a lot of them more than once. A lot of it is bad but for me I enjoyed the campy feel of the show. I hated deus ex machina and amnesia moments but I still enjoyed the show overall. I'm such a big Superman fan I kind of just overlooked whatever was stupid. I still think the show has the best Kents, Lex and Lois though, Chloe was a great character too and probably the most consistently great thing about the show.

With that being said I know I won't be able to get through an entire rewatch. I don't remember anything from seasons 5-8 probably for good reason. I'm on the 2nd episode of S1 now and completely forgot about the freak of the week format and am already annoyed. Gonna google to see if anyone else has posted those 25-30 episodes that are about the big plot points. The best parts for me were when Clark's secret was revealed, gaining new powers or the season premiere's/finale's.

Also I know Chloe finds out Clark's secret and doesn't tell him she knows, but does anyone know which episode is the one where Clark finally tells her?

We should make one. I remember a few top-ten episodes hitting back when the show ended, but they were all best-ofs and none of the plot-necessary ones. There are a lot of great two-three episode arcs as well, like some of the Alicia episodes, that are completely forgotten despite working so well.

Agreed... I like the early Kents and Lex. Then things kind of got a little crazy... Martha Kent becoming a politician and Lex with the Lana stuff. I also liked Chloe in the early seasons but she became annoying after a while too. All of a sudden she becomes a super crazy hacker? Lana was just consistently horrible with the whole "tell me the truth!!!!!!" in every single fucking episode. jesus christ.

Early seasons were fun because the production values were high and the premiers and finales were always fantastic. But they usually lacked an over arching plot so the season would have some great episodes and some really bad ones. Season 4 was around the time Lana became really stupid and by season 7 they were just retreading the same story lines over and over again. Season 4 to 7 was mostly terrible IMO. The last few seasons were good because of the season-long story lines and the close ties with Superman mythos. We saw Doomsday, Zod, Apokalips, Legion of Super Heroes, JSA, emergence of Lois as the main love interest, and a ton of other stuff. Unfortunately the production value was piss poor by this time so we would pretty much see the same 3 or 4 sets all the friggen time lol.

Overall I enjoyed watching the series through its ups and downs. I thought it finished pretty strong given its shitty budget. The main problem is that the show lasted 200 episodes... that's insane. They were forced to stretch things beyond anyone's imagination. Ten 20 to 25 episode-seasons is just too much. So no, I would never re-watch the show lol it's just way to big of a commitment and I don't think I could sit through those middle seasons that had absolutely no purpose at all. -
