If we're going to nail people to a cross, let's keep them human. No giant oversized pink rats dying for our sins while everyone else sits on their asses in a giant robot.

Why? My point is this: if you're going to have pink rats in your game in the first place, if you don't crucify them what good are they? :)

Agreed, that is currently Xenoblade. And I doubt it's the last one, either.

Both. I thought the combat, though needing polish was a better direction in II, and the story was leagues better in I (particularly how they ended several characters' arcs). Ironically enough, Xenoblade's combat system is what I consider the evolution of Ep. II; the break and combo system, only done right.

Mind you these are only my opinions, as much as I disagree with GAF's praise of III and will say so in a heartbeat, they're entitled to it.

Well I wasn't going to tear you to shreds over you opinion. I've heard just about everything from people about the series already from xeno I is better than II, to III is better than them all, to all of them suck, to all of them are great. I personally like them all but I think the xeno fanbase is kinda odd sometimes when it comes to liking one game to another with the xeno name.

Creeping your main character out at the implications that a rat is in love with you, of course.

Or we cold just not have the rats. >_>;

Development issues, an overzealous fanbase, and a team switch will do that. Xenosaga 3 is the best polished and overall best playing. Xenosaga 1 is great, but very slow and clunky.

I think we can all near-universally agree that Xenosaga 2 is awful tho. :P

Which part didn't you like?

I edited some of it into my previous post.

EDIT: The one A.E Suggs quoted, that's helpful. XD

But that's all I'm gonna say about it in this thread because it's off topic and I'm going back to work anyhow, so hopefully it'll stop the topic derail.

Carry on folks.

Yeah, well, hopefully there aren't any in the new game. I never liked the mascot-character shit in Takahashi's games anyway. :P

All of Soma Bringer's playable characters are human!

Currently checking out Hiroyuki Sawano's Mobile Suit Gundam OST and I'm really impressed so far. Some of it reminds me of Mitsuda. Can't wait to hear what the guy brings to X.

It's time to post this, isn't it?

Looks fantastic! I don't like the music shown in the trailer, though. Sounds pretty bland compared to the amazing soundtrack in Xenoblade Chronicles. But the composer is supposedly a good one, so I'm sure there will be lots of good music in this one too.

Because I wanted to support Takahashi and Monolithsoft. I wanted to do my part to get future Monolithsoft games in America. I bought the European version before the American release was announced. It was really bad timing on my part. The American release was announced about two weeks after I had gotten the imported version in the mail. If I had known the game would be released in America, I wouldn't have imported. I only imported because Nintendo had spent months saying they weren't going to release it here.

The thing is, by buying Xenoblade (twice!), you're making it more likely for them to make more games like Xenoblade. So you can't hardly be surprised that they're making a game "more like Xenoblade".

Of course, since Xenoblade has gone on to become perhaps my favorite JRPG ever (probably topping Xenogears, or close to it anyway), I have to thank you. Xenoblade is a more balanced game; Xenogears's story is amazing but it's too complex to be contained in a single game, upsetting the gameplay/story balance as a result. Xenogears may have the juicier story, but Xenoblade has the better pacing, gameplay, and balance.

That will help you between little and nothing if you hate the battle system, though, and you'll probably find no solace in X.

Will this be the game that will me putting in more hours that smash bros! Probably not but heh hopefully it'll be about the same as Monster hunter or phantasy star 2 portable.

Look's pretty good. Awesome the main character has a Gear for transportation and stuff. Wonder how far off from release it is? Looking forward to seeing more at E3.

just gave it a little photoshop godness to improve the colors more to my liking

see that monolith? crank up the colors!

Well, that certainly improves it. Now that I'm looking at it closely, the environments we've seen so far seem less designed and more randomly generated. I suppose that's the curse of open world HD, it's difficult to get set pieces that look "hand crafted" in any sane amount of time. I hope it's just because this is early on and we really haven't seen much of it. I will withhold any judgment from this tiny amount we've been shown.

So this game will definitely have a more modern feel to it than Xenoblade, it seems.

All the attacks / system logs / weapons / clothing definitely makes it look like Xenoblade - future version. Either that, or prequel.
Aka, before the experiment
. (or it could be completely unrelated!)

That blue light mentioned earlier is probably one of those collectible orbs being picked up.

Spoilers dude, but:
The world of Xenoblade before Zanza's experiment was, as far as we can tell, earth as we know it.

So will the battles be semi-automatic like in Xenoblade, or more action-oriented?

On foot seems like auto battle, but mech combat seems more action oriented.

I'm more interested in the mech combat myself.

In fact it's the only reason I want this game really.

How long till we get more info about this. I need to know how customizable the mechs are.

It might suck if there are horrendous loadtimes. However, I've got faith in Monolith.

I hope they can eliminate transitions between major areas, but it's okay if they can't.

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't any boundaries/zones/areas this time. You are obviously able to fly, so who is going to stop you from flying over a zone border? how could they hinder you from flying everywhere? The fuel obviously takes a part in this, but I think it's only to ensure that you can't leave the island you are on.

Looks the same but you seem to have a lot more options in combat now:

- You have the equipped skills as a human character like in Xenoblade
- Aside from the regular attack from your main weapon there seems to be a secondary weapon (like a pistol in the trailer) you can swap to and use as well
- The mechs have their own attack skills, probably preset
- You can now target specific body parts of an enemy, so that should make the battles more active as well since you can manually change between body parts even when targeting the same enemy

On foot seems like auto battle, but mech combat seems more action oriented.

Nah, the mech battles are the same. In the trailer when it cuts off the tail, it's simply using a stronger beam saber slash attack which is one of the skills on the skill bar.

I don't think I've ever payed an HD open world game that looked randomly generated. As far as JRPGs go, Dragon's Dogma definitely didn't look randomly generated.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to look around my local town first, but I might resort to this. I'm also having a hard time finding a copy of Lost Odyssey 360 locally. It's pretty reasonable on eBay, but I haven't jumped on it yet.

You're welcome. Hype levels are pretty high for X, so that could very well reflect backt to Xenoblade 1 and it's price. If you find a good deal for the NA version somewhere locally, I wouldn't hesitate.

Speculative spoiler alert!
