Monolithsoft WiiU trailer - X (Takahashi x Tanaka x Sawano, Xenoblade x/multiplayer?)

I think the color issues are mostly due to the time of day in game...

I thought so too, but when I checked through the trailer, they have scenes from many different times. Early morning, late morning, afternoon, etc. It's definitely not as vibrant as Xenoblade, but maybe there's a reason for that.

Looks quite good, but the animation looked stiff and the world although very expansive looks a bit sparse and lifeless. That being said I liked the fact you could see people fighting off in the distance behind the big foreground action in a few clips. I suspect the frame-rate will be less than wonderful though when things get busy, it didn't look overly smooth even with one PC and a monster or two in action.

But hey, it could play great regardless, so its definitely a big feather in Wii-U's cap.

Looks the same but you seem to have a lot more options in combat now:

- You have the equipped skills as a human character like in Xenoblade
- Aside from the regular attack from your main weapon there seems to be a secondary weapon (like a pistol in the trailer) you can swap to and use as well
- The mechs have their own attack skills, probably preset
- You can now target specific body parts of an enemy, so that should make the battles more active as well since you can manually change between body parts even when targeting the same enemy

Nah, the mech battles are the same. In the trailer when it cuts off the tail, it's simply using a stronger beam saber slash attack which is one of the skills on the skill bar.

I. AM. HYPED.

So I was staring at this image, and thinking a bit, and I think I see explicit confirmation that this is a direct sequel to Xenoblade.

As those of you who've played Xenoblade will know, there's a day/night cycle in the game; different monsters appear at different times, for instance, with occasional 'special weather conditions' leading to special monsters appearing.

While we don't see any day/night cycle directly, there *is* a clock for some reason, and I think inspecting the clock does give a pretty big hint that this might be a sequel to Xenoblade.

You handsome motherfucker! lol

Intentional to go with the sci-fi style and Tanaka's art? I wish they would have shown more of the characters, I love his style.

The last really good one was 2009 or so.

2010 was the year they showed off DK: County Returns, Epic Mickey, Epic Yarn, Skyward Sword, GoldenEye, Golden sun, 3DS and kid Icarus, Resident Evil: Revelations etc. That was a good E3.

until I saw a trailer on my 3DS for it about a week before the UK release in August 2011.

Huh, so those trailers on the 3DS are justified after all! Always found them odd on that dinky screen!

On foot seems like auto battle, but mech combat seems more action oriented.

Thank you. Not sure if this makes me happy though, I prefer to play a more active part in battles, and having some of the freedom of control taken away from me might feel awkward in a game that seems to place such great emphasis on mobility.

At the 0:54 mark in the trailer, it looks like your gear quickly dodges the enemy's first attack. Game will be fucking cool if you can dodge.

Yeah, HD Games can't have color :P

(I loved your constant 'I Came!' posts last night...couldn't stop laughing).

I hope everything localized in english uses British voice actors.

I don't know if it's just me being tired of listening to the same 5 people over and over or what but I found Xenoblade's dub refreshing.
It certainly is not you. TLS's dub was a little better than Xenoblade's, but overall the voicework in both games were very refreshing, indeed.

British VA, please.

I'll never get tired of Johnny Yong Bosch and Laura Bailey. ;)

Had me for a moment there.

sorry if it's already been discussed in this thread, but what are you guys thinking for a release date? the game looks pretty far along, so perhaps a November release in Japan? I wonder how long Xenoblade took to develop

As a massive Xenoblade fan, I'm surprised to say that visually this didn't really do much for me :/ a bit bland, a bit lifeless. At least in comparison.

I wouldn't really draw too many parallels between this games development and Xenoblade's.

As for when it will be released...when it's ready of course!

Yeah, I think it's likely to release this year in Japan. Early next year for everywhere elseEurope and 2015 for NA.

I'd love nothing more for this game to come out this holiday season in any region. But I'd guess more likely to come out sometime next year. Though if it did come out this year or early next, that be killer!

I hate that I'm saying this, but they should take as long as they need to get it right. I'll live with the wait.

And yes, British VA again, please!

I'll say Spring to Summer 2014 in Japan. Either a worldwide release, or Fall 2014 in US/Europe, depending on how Nintendo wants to handle it.

My god, does this game look amazing. I'm not big in to RPGs, have never played xenoblade, but I need this. Reminded me a bit of PSO, the game I've logged the most hours in out of any video game. I'm going to search for a copy of xenoblade this weekend.
