If it has weather/night and day systems, potentially any outside location could have varying degrees of lighting/fog/rain/snow/viewable horizon distance and what not. So that gif could perhaps still be correct.

Jeez I really need to get Xenoblade soon. I'm depraving myself of something special I'm sure. ;_;

I couldn't leave it alone, so I apologize in advance for getting your hopes up.

after altering that frame, I thought to myself "how would that look in motion?". So I changed the entire gif. And I think it would be rude to keep it all to myself. so here you go:

I am sorry :,(
God damn, thank you. I always love more vibrancy in a games' color palette.
I don't like that adjustment at all. Looks tacky as hell, and really unnatural. :P
Care to explain what you mean? :p

But this isn't a sequel to Xenoblade. And this isn't Xenoblade.

Doesn't matter really. It's still an open world rpg, and a very grey looking one too. For the entire last gen we've had more than enough of those. Nearly every other rpg looked that way (skyrim, witcher, dragons dogma...). To me, Xenoblade was always the exception to that ongoing trend. It stood out, even the most barren areas had something that felt out of this world thanks to it's color scheme. If it stays the way it is, I don't think it will make as much an impression as it's predecessor did, because besides some variety in terrain, it would look just like any other rpg/game of that era, just with added mechs/dolls.

Ofc we haven't seen anything yet, but judging by what we saw so far, I don't think it's going to drastically shift in other zones.

But I'll try to stay optimistic, after all it sold me a wiiu sooner as I expected (as soon as monster hunter is released)

I think a comparison will be good.

I'd like a happy medium between those two. I watched the trailer on the eShop, and it looks slightly more vibrant than the original image. It will look great.

On another note, I watched the trailer several times in succession. I don't think I've done that since the Super Smash Bros. Brawl trailer.

This looks way too good, I really hope the washed out colors are from bad trailer quality as opposed to actual washed out colors. The faded colors give it the appearance of bad IQ or something.

Rewatching the trailer again... there's a black haired male protagonist, and a blonde (?) long haired female protagonist. Plus the Shulk-lookalike.

Aaargh, I wish they had given more info.

This trailer is so good looking on the Vita's OLED screen.

how many teams Monolith Soft have?

Before the opening of their new offices, they had two. So I'm guessing 3.

I'm just hoping if that's not the case... then at least make up for it in other locations of the game!

I like where the coloring is at, it makes a lot of stuff pop out more like spell effects or certain designs on monsters/mecha.

3 right now. This team in Tokyo, the new Kyoto team which is working on the 3DS, and the Project X Zone guys which is also in Tokyo I think.

Yea, I still think both look amazing, just my preference of color choices. Even if they don't do it, I won't be disappointed.

And yea, I've watched the trailer dozens of times now. The last time I did that was the 60fps Wonderful 101 trailer. It was so pleasing to the eyes.
You guys do realize that we have only seen one segment of the game right? I'm sure other parts of the game will have be more vibrant.

Well generally, a filter stays throughout the whole game, so the game would look less vibrant than it could.

I believe it is going to be male protagonist... as Shulk. (Obviously)

Wii U "X" graphic looks so different than Wii Xenoblade's graphic could explain the difference of Shulk's face in the trailer.

That's my call.

Nothing wrong with some subtlety in a colour palette. Remember: sometimes a few touches of colour in an otherwise pallid game can have a much stronger impact than they would otherwise.

The more I see the trailer, the more it feels more similar to MMORPG. Why do some think it's certainly not MMO? Takahashi?

It's probably more like MonHun than an MMO

No. The blonde is definitely not the Shulk lookalike. She has longer, slightly past shoulder length hair. Kinda like Elly from Xenogears, except not that absurdly silly long. Plus you can see boobs. :P

Also, there are floating platforms in the game world at the start. Looks like places to fly to.

There's another dark haired (looks female) character as well, but she's almost offscreen, right as combat starts. Around 25 seconds in.

I don't mind if some people think it's MMO-like, I just want some action in RPGs. PSO did a lot of things right for its time.

Xenoblade is very action-oriented. You CAN select an enemy and beat the tar out of it with auto-attack, but XB's combat isn't limited to that at all.

Do you guys reckon the party characters in the trailer could just be place holders for the time being? It's still early and the game is bound to change before the final version.

So you think one that is with guns as that shulk-alike female?

I could see it but why they did not include the black hair guy protagonist? That seems like that is going to be our protagonist but we did not even get to see his face.

There are four characters in the trailer as far as I can tell. The black haired male protagonist wielding a sword, an almost offscreen black-haired female (?) protagonist, the blonde haired female protagonist wielding guns, and the Shulk lookalike at the end.

They could just be placeholders/online characters, but I'd like to be optimistic and work under the assumption that they're not.

Are these comments coming from people who never played Xenoblade? Because all I see in the trailer is "this looks like Xenoblade" followed by "HOLY SHIT GIANT ROBOTS!"

I sometimes wonder about the people who say it's like an MMO. Xenoblade itself was closer to Guild Wars 1 than any other real MMO on the market. All that's really "MMO like" is the action bar. :P

Alright I got you now. I was so unsure which you was talking about but now I know.

I don't like the changed colors much at all.

I love colors that make my eyes bleed but a variety is welcome.

Most Wii U games are very vibrant, I like the way the game looks as is.

I wonder if Takahashi is going to try to create a story with Xenosaga/Xenogears complexity again. With Xenoblade they aimed to do a more Shonen-like story, and with this I hope Takahashi goes back to making more complex stories.

People give Xenosaga a ton of shit for its story but if you read the Perfect Guide it's very, very interesting and well thought out. They just weren't able to translate everything they wanted to a game, and I hope Takahashi and crew are able to do all they want now. Third time's the charm?
