Monolithsoft WiiU trailer - X (Takahashi x Tanaka x Sawano, Xenoblade x/multiplayer?)

My thoughts on this is that it's basically Xenoblade 2

This trailer analysis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvScF7vEmpE&list=LLIHnKs0NTAWa7ojUgihQH8A might confirm that at least Shulk is in fact in the game even if he is not the main character.

This game might be more like Guild Wars where you can play online with friends but still enjoy the game just as much in single player, not to mention the story.

One can only hope. I'm not a fan of MMO's TBH. Standing around/waiting for people to join/logon to go fight things annoys me.

The little time I have to play I want to utilize.

Initial reaction: omgomgomgomgomgomgomg

Then came the: What?!? Who's that composer? Why not Mitsuda/Kajiura???

Then I listened to some of Sawano's work: Oh ok, it's pretty much as good as Kajiura's word (god-tier)

I've been defending Square-Enix all this time, even with their most recent announcements, but I'll say this now: Lightning Returns feels so irrelevant now.

"Obviously Shulk" @ 3:40

Oh no, I can see what will be one of the biggest arguments about this game will be until we find out more.

My goodness @ 1:57

The AI character is a tiny dot! I didn't fully appreciate the size of that monster before that was pointed out!

AI partners in Xenoblade could travel that far away from the party but it was mostly because of a bug. :P

Like many others, I'm sorta interested in getting Xenoblade after watching this trailer. Is it really story heavy like the other games in the Xeno franchise? Does it relate to the other games? Or refer to them subtly?

Big gears fan, not so much Saga.

It's standalone, and it's not as story heavy as Gears/Saga. It's still got a better story than most RPGs to come out. HUUUUGE on sidequests.

Not as story heavy (still a good story though, it just doesn't have the complexity of the others) and no connections to Gears/Saga.

Btw I really really like the monster designs in this game. I feel most JRPG enemies/monsters are rather generic/forgettable, but these monsters look really cool.

I don't know if this has been posted, and if it is my apologies then:

This might be insignificant, but the only times where there's no other "players" on the HUD were when the person was inside those dolls. I'm pretty sure there's offline single player mode for this game, but I wonder if we can have online co-op and everyone can use dolls and split up in different parts of the map.

We can only hope.

What an intro!

Not sure if it has been said yet (only read up to page 21) but this game, being for the Wii U could possibly allow MP by having the main player play on the TV with a Pro controller and have someone else play on the GamePad. It would make playing the game in MP with my brother so much better!

I was looking at one of the analysis trailers for the game and I didn't even notice that one of the characters in the party casted a healing/buff spell using what appeared to be an ether rifle. The animation was even the same, just like Sharla's. It definitely smells like Xenoblade !

Oops. Double post.

You can already do this in Call of Duty: Black Ops. If I'm not mistaken, one person can use the TV with either the Wii U Pro controller or the Wii remote controls while the other person uses the GamePad for off-TV play. Apparently, the Need for Speed: Most Wanted port will be offering an exclusive co-op mode feature with one person uses the Wii U Pro controller and the other person can use the GamePad for touchscreen features. Let's hope Nintendo does an Iwata Asks with Monolith Soft soon.

The main dude's running animation looks like Shulk's too. I also noticed that the trailer has the pinks plants that you can see in Eryth Sea in Xenoblade in one of the terrains.

Oh, yeah? Interesting. I'll have to check the trailer again. :)

I loved Xenogears on PlayStation. Previously I said I'd only get a WiiU for the next Rogue Squadron, but this trailer has me seriously considering getting this console.

Can't wait to see more.

Yeah, that can't be Shulk.

Xenoblade spoilers:
Shulk's eyes aren't green.... but Fiora's are. My theory? That's their kid.

I couldn't leave it alone, so I apologize in advance for getting your hopes up.

after altering that frame, I thought to myself "how would that look in motion?". So I changed the entire gif. And I think it would be rude to keep it all to myself. so here you go:

I am sorry :,(

Too vibrant for my taste, something in between would be good.

holy cow!!! So this is what people meant when they said Xenoblade is beautiful? Even though it seems to be running on Dolphin, but that art direction, colors and scale

This looks like a bullshot or a Dolphin screenshot, so it will most likely not look as good on your TV. But it changes nothing when it comes to the incredible artstyle and amazing scale this game has. Despite being stuck in 480p hell, Xenoblade manages to somehow be one of the most pleasant-looking game I played in the last years.

I've never watched a trailer so much in my life

Same.

Xenoblade is my favorite game since it came out in Europe (I modded my Wii in order to play it because the wait was simply unbearable.), I expect so much from this title and this trailer only shows that Monolith can, and is absolutely able to deliver what I want.

The thing I can't wait to know is if its an actual Xenoblade sequel or a game on its own, because that guy in the end that looks almost exactly like Shulk makes me wonder so much.

Another thing I hope for is that NOA won't fuck this up and release it late like they did with Xenoblade, man, the numbers of sold copies they lost by doing this. :(

Nintendo really needs more of these epic titles that cater to a dedicated gaming audience. Skimming through the thread, it seems to have convinced a lot of people to consider purchasing a WiiU. It won't sell anywhere near as much as their established franchises, but it'll certainly attract a lot of gamers who hoped for that grand HD JRPG that never was.

True. I sure hope the mech suits actually feel like their moving fast. Anyway, access to the teleport devices later in Xenoblade made things much more bearable.

teleport devices?

you know fast travel was available from the very beginning to all landmarks....
